To be unsurprised that Corbyn is still being called anti-semitic?

Corbyn has been quite happy over the years to work with those who are clearly anti-Semitic. And he continues to do so. Whilst at the same time saying that he condemns all forms of racism, recently changed to say he condemns anti semitism. Does he not realise yet that people judge him by his actions, not his broad statements which are pretty meaningless? And until he clearly shows in his actions that he condemns anti semitism, these allegations will continue?

I see the Corbyn cheer leaders have pissedofg.

Even they can’t defend the indefensible and one actually was truthful by resort to ‘I don’t really care about anti Semitism’

Great article bananafish

The Jewish issue is too small an issue for me to worry about

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
                                                                                Martin Niemöller

Ok.
ROFL that Boris isn't running the country. He and his Brexitters have been dictating government policy for 2 years now.

I will explain, my jews comment( god knows why) this "scandel" blow up lately.
So when my wife and sat down last year to decide our voting options, I can truly say neither of us mention/thought about jews.

Why because we voted on Education, health, social care, fears over Brexit, student debt, housing crisis. Lack of funding for speech therapy. Mays government treatment of the police and unions. All things that effect our 2 extended families and I would again tomorrow, so do go away.

Not anti semetic, just Jewish issues aren't on our politic map. Why would they be, not Jewish.

MariaMadita · 02/08/2018 18:04

Btw, to the people that seem to doubt that anti-Semitism might be an issue in the UK:

Anti-Semitic views seem to be comparably low in the UK, yes.

But there seems to have been a rather noticeable uptick from 2014 to 2015...
And no, they don't equate criticism of Israel (or even anti-Zionism...) with anti-Semitism.

global100.adl.org/#country/united-kingdom/2015

And anti-Semitic incidents were apparently also at an all-time high in 2017.
The 34% rise of violent assaults is imo especially concerning.

www.google.ch/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2018/feb/01/antisemitic-incidents-in-uk-at-all-time-high

(the improved response may have partially contributed to the higher number, which is also mentioned in the article...)

To be unsurprised that Corbyn is still being called anti-semitic?

Not anti semetic, just Jewish issues aren't on our politic map. Why would they be, not Jewish.

Asian issues aren't on a lot of peoples minds because they are not Asian, etc etc.

Do you see where that leads?

Trying to be virtuous as though people who vote alternatively don't also have the same worries but a different view on achieving it is somewhat condescending, but to top it off, coming from an ardent true labour supporter the comment you made above is dripping in irony more than I think you will ever realise.

Barbarianmum
Well said
I have stood in front of a mosque with other lefties to stop right wingers attacking it. Marched to stop NF rallies. Rescued a neighbour from drunken abusive partner. Hidden a girl in our student dump from a honor attack. Given blood in times of national emergency.
Taken elderly and infirm to vote, even Tory voters.
So I will ask what you have done?
Recticing a peom is easy.
Tell me where an attack is planned on a Jewish home and I will happily stand next to you.
Come on just because Jewish people don't come high in my priorities doesn't mean I would not defend them.
I just disagree that Jeremy Corbyn is a anti semetinite.

They say the modern way is to attack people who think differently. Well this proves the centre and right wing are equally quilty.
Just because I have different ideas doesn't mean anything.

SillySallySingsSongs · 02/08/2018 18:14

Not anti semetic, just Jewish issues aren't on our politic map. Why would they be, not Jewish

Are any minority issues on your map? After all why would they? You aren't muslim/catholic/Hindi/ethnic minority etc etc etc

You are singling out Jews.

MariaMadita · 02/08/2018 18:16

I don't think that who you voted for is necessarily the issue, @user1471450935.

But I do find the attitude of "I don't care about things that don't directly affect me" somewhat disturbing.

And I feel like it's often applied rather selectively...

Forgot to mention lost money for both wife and I to strike to defend our industry pensions and working conditions. Striked to defended the black and muslim cleaners to get a decent living wage.
What have you all done

crunchymint · 02/08/2018 18:32

You really think you are the only one who has ever been on strike, on demos, organised strikes or demos? Probably done a lot more than you.
BUT even if I hadn't it does not mean that it is okay to not challenge anti Semitism.

Isreali funded and pro Zionist movements are wetting themselves with fear at the thought of Corbyn becoming PM.

It seems to me like the Tories are thanking their Gods for Corbyn and Abbott... (Certain opponents seem to diminish the possible impact of incompetence.)

mycatthinksshesatiger · 02/08/2018 18:38

I am Jewish. Not religious, but a cultural and ethnic Jew. I have relatives who died in the camps.

I have never felt so uncomfortable in my country of birth as I do right now.

I wholewheartedly agree with crunchymint and many others upthread about Corbyn’s behaviour. It is irrelevant to this discussion what the Tories do as we are not discussing them. It’s like telling someone to not be upset about sexual harassment because someone else has had it worse.

What I would say, to all those who don’t care about Jews, is that they should however look at the big picture.

No amount of protest, media debate, criticism from within his own party has led Corbyn to budge his position on this. Anyone who makes public declarations against him on this from within his party is subjected to disciplinary procedures. So we have a leader who penalises those who disagree with him and stubbornly remains impervious to other people’s views. A very dangerous combination in politics, and in my view not a million miles away from dictatorship. That may sound far-fetched but hey, scaremongering is all the range these days (according to the Daily Fail...,)

user1471450935 · 02/08/2018 18:40

Or possible the 1000 pounds we as a family raised by running 2 10k races for local breast cancer support and homeless charities. The 4 years as a school governor. The child early years course from the OU my wife paid out of our own money so she could volunteer for 5 years reading to disadvantaged kids.
Does that count.
The family room at local ICU/PICU we & another bereaved family decorated, equiped and paid for 29 years ago after my brother died and we donated his organs to 17 people. So others wouldn't get told your brother is dead in a cleaners cupboard or nurse's locker room.
No not good enough.
So sorry. Remind me to only vote Tory in future so I am not anti semetic

SillySallySingsSongs · 02/08/2018 18:57

user1471450935 You assume others dont do charity work etc.

Not sure why you keep bringing the Tories into it. I have never voted Tory in my life.

The smear attempts are getting ever more desperate and sad.

The dismissal of people's genuine concerns is getting desperate and sad. Would you behave that way to other minority groups?

Bingpot · 02/08/2018 18:58

To all of Corbyn's cheerleaders, I have to ask: when Jewish communities and individuals and MPs are speaking out about how they feel about antisemitism under Corbyn, and you deny he is racist, what are you saying?
A) jews are lying
B) Jews don't understand what antisemitism is
C) Jews are making a fuss over nothing and have nothing to fear because you say so?

I'd truly like to know your answer. Because the answer shouldn't be to soapbox about how wonderful Corbyn is about fighting other forms of racism, your answer should be why do Jewish people feel this way and what can be done about it? Unless of course there's another answer.

Seasawride · 02/08/2018 19:06

why would they be be not being jewish

Neither am I! I am a white English middle class woman with a high earning dh who runs his own business. We have put or are putting 6 kids through uni and live in a nice area. We should vote Tory. We don’t. We have always voted labour until momentum siezed power.

I can’t vote for a racist mysogynistic rabble so voted Lib Dem. and I resented doing that.

You vote for what is right not just what is right for you.

user1471450935 · 02/08/2018 19:06

I have defended miniorities Muslim, Sikh, Zimbaebian with a death warrant on them from being sent back. Black and Asian workers paid peanuts to do dangerous jobs.
My Ds looks after a Muslum refugee.

Has far as I know my brother's liver went to a Rabi. Noticed to avoided all that

Seasawride · 02/08/2018 19:13

I think you are desperately trying to gas light is all into forgetting your earlier dreadful comment.

I find it very hard to equate all the fighting the worlds wrongs you say you do with anyone who could make that comment.

I think hiding people from honour killings is slightly over egging the pudding.

Still I think it’s bizarre you seem to think no one on here does charity work or protests or cares about others?

You were the one who said you still voted labour because basically anti semitism didn’t affect you.

How ever you dress it up it’s not pretty is it.

And why do you assume everyone who detests Corbyn voted Tory?

Bingpot · 02/08/2018 19:15

Can someone explain why the poster below is ranting about all the charitable work they do for minorities when this thread is not about their personal endeavours or these particular groups of people? Seems like a spectacular derail.

Seasawride · 02/08/2018 19:16

Gosh how do you find the time to eat with all this saving the world.

Sod the Jews though aye.

FloralBunting · 02/08/2018 19:18

No one is wetting themselves in fear of Corbyn becoming Prime Minister.
Because it's about as likely as cats growing thumbs.

MariaMadita · 02/08/2018 19:20

Bingpot

I'm fairly certain that this is the poster who wrote this:
The Jewish issue is too small an issue for me to worry about

And then explained why s/he(?) Didn't care about "the Jewish issue" (but apparently about nearly every other issue...)

why would they be not being jewish
