I know i am being unreasonable.. everyone just likes what they like, im not daft...

But i cant imagine not having a hot drink. I drink both coffee and tea and try most of the new fandangled options that are forever coming onto the market. I use hot drinks as a way to relax and socialise. Almost all my friends drink hot drinks so its a bit alien to me to not have them..

What thing(s) do you absolutely love but cant get your head around other people disliking??

Agree with blank coffee doesnt smell nice but come one how on earth can anyone enjoy tea. It smells like wet dog and taste like dish washer water.

londonrach · 29/07/2018 22:53

Coffee smells mice!

londonrach · 29/07/2018 22:54

Nice not mice! Im doing well here, 🙈🐭

The thing I don’t understand about other people (ok, mainly DH) is when they can’t make a small, unimportant decision without 10 minutes of fannying around, like going into an Italian restaurant and not being able to choose which type of pasta you want, just pick one they’re all the bloody same anyway! MIL described him as a tit in a trance today and it really made me laugh!

Pinkprincess1978 · 29/07/2018 23:00

I don't drink hot drinks - well I do drink hot chocolate occasionally but maybe have 10 cups a year.

What I don't get is why people think it is weird when I say I don't drink tea of coffee. So many people are shocked and not the only one who gets this, i know 3 or 4 other people who are the same and they get the same reaction.

Personally I can't stand coffee and anything coffee flavoured and couldn't drink it. Tea I just don't enjoy but could drink it if I really had to.

AnxiousPeg · 29/07/2018 23:03

Tea smells nothing like wet dog! And, if you brew it properly, it has a wonderful astringent, refreshing quality. More thirst-quenching than water after something sweet.

The above does not apply to tea with sugar or sweetener in it Tea with sugar is vile.

TotHappy · 30/07/2018 00:23

You're making it wrong, londonrach. Tea is delicious.

Coffee is a drink i choose to have sometimes, I like it, I would miss it if it ceased to exist, but it is an active choice, 'mmm, shall I have a coffee?'

Tea is not like that. I don't choose it, it is part of the fabric of life. You must have tea. A day without? No. It is a routine, a ritual, and our national drink. That's why people look at you funny. The question is 'how do you take your tea ' not 'do you want to have tea'. You MUST have tea. It would be like deciding to live without water otherwise.

In England, that is.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 30/07/2018 00:26

I don’t like hot drinks, dogs or ice cream which apparently makes me the biggest cunt in the world Grin

ThisIsntMeHonestGuv · 30/07/2018 00:40

Glad I'm not in England then!

QueenOfPharts · 30/07/2018 00:44

I am addicted to drinking tea I bloody love the stuff...since age 2..hey it was acceptable in the 80s. There's very little a cup of tea can't solve. Most of life's heartaches and challenges I've had a cup of tea on and managed to sort myself out or get help. Its always been something me and my mum have shared too.
My Dsis and BIL dont drink hot drinks I think they might be psychopaths they have 5 young kids...how to do they cope?!
My DH can take or leave a hot drinks and is more of a coffee drinker, he is keen on the odd cuppa though and I love him even more when he joins me in one.

AnExcellentUsername · 30/07/2018 00:49

@tothappy

Tea tastes like cat's piss.

hellokittymania · 30/07/2018 00:50

I don't like Vietnamese coffee heart, the condensed milk makes it very very sweet. So unless it's freezing and I'm in Hanoi, or you're out in the elements, I drink iced coffee in Vietnam, always. In the UK, I like both, hot and cold. Depending on the weather really. I will never try a hot bubble tea though. They ask you if you want it hot. But you don't drink that hard either. I don't know about China, but in Singapore, it's always nice. Same in Vietnam.

Fabricwitch · 30/07/2018 00:56

YANBU
I drink tea (breakfast and herbal), coffee, hot chocolate, mulled wine. When I was a kid I insisted on having my Ribena heated up in the microwave!

SoupDragon · 30/07/2018 01:06

Now hot chocolate with marsh mellows...what not to love

The sweet sickly rankness 😂

bluebellforest · 30/07/2018 01:21

Well, shoot me now, as I hate all hot drinks and don't like cats or dogs either 😁
Why does that make me weird? It's just personal taste after all, is it not?
Yes, puppies and kittens are cute, but they stink, your house stinks and you stink, the end.

accendo · 30/07/2018 01:24

My husband also doesn't drink tea or coffee but does love a hot milo or hot chocolate. The smell of coffee and especially the smell of coffee on a person's breath makes me feel Ill. I can't stand it.

FamilyLawAdvice · 30/07/2018 01:46

I don't drink hot
Drinks 😁 I don't like the warm
Feeling they give you as they go down 😂

Also don't like soup, or dogs

cmwife · 30/07/2018 02:20

I love to cook, and cannot understand those who don't. Having said that, cooking for fussy/unappreciative kids or partners, or cooking the same 7 meals on rotation, or the kind of cooking you do as fast as you can after a day at work and during witching hour, is no fun and I get why people hate those things. But cooking a delicious meal, with nice produce and lots of time to do it, is magical.

Housewife2010 · 30/07/2018 06:15

I never understand people who say they don't like water. It's the most refreshing drink there is and far better for your teeth than the alternatives.

Timeisslippingaway · 30/07/2018 08:29

I bloody love coffee. I need coffee every morning, ran put the other day and could not pull myself together at all and ended up with a headache.
I can't understand this fashion of shorts where your arse cheeks hangs out the bottom. Just why???

JynxaSmoochum · 30/07/2018 09:24

I don't understand tea/ coffee drinkers, they're just so unimaginative Wink

I occasionally drink hot drinks but my avaliable choices are very limited.
Tea and coffee are unpleasantly bitter.
I have an intolerance to milk and soya so can't add it to tea or coffee anyway particularly when out, and most hot chocolate is ruled out. I miss that as an option in a cafe.
Some fruit teas are nice, the trick is to tell yourself it will taste of water and any flavour is a bonus Wink
Most squash is now contaminated with foul tasting, headachy sweetners. RIP hot Ribena Sad.
I like half hot/cold water and find it very soothing especially if I have a headache. Apparently that's odd Confused

Hot drinks are a faff. You have to boil the kettle up then wait for ages until the optimum moment for it to be cool enough not to singe your tounge but still be warmer than body temperature. I've usually forgotten by that point then end up drinking tepid fruit tea Blush Then there is the staffroom politics over the stuff and its paraphinalia which is best avoided anyway.

Every year I have to date check the tea and coffee and dump the remaining 73 dusty teabags and crusty coffee. If I'm expecting guests I have to remember that they need cow juice (can't even remember which form of low fat they want, fussy buggers Wink). I've yet to discover a type of long life milk that these faddy and unimaginative tea/ coffee drinkers approve of in their bitter beverage!

Without a caffiene addiction to satisfy, it is abundantly clear that I am the sane one and the tea/ coffee drinkers are slaves to addiction and unimaginative social convention, poor dears. Grin

I shall humour you with a nice Brew. Unforunately I wasn't expecting you so the tea bag is dusty and the oat milk separates a bit and has a hint of poridge Wink

Loyaultemelie · 30/07/2018 11:01

I drink way too much coffee (can't warm too tea though) pregnancy was tough with a mix of decaf, hot choc and even hot squash to try to fill the gap.
I adore reading it's my me time and escapism. Dd1 is severely dyslexic and only learned to read this year in p4 and to see her now trying to read for pleasure and even listening to stories (never liked that as a baby/toddler) is a dream come true. Give me a coffee and a book and I'm happy

Timeisslippingaway · 30/07/2018 14:57

Instant coffee is the devil's work though. I dread when people offer me coffee at their houses because they know I love coffee so think they are doing me a favour and I have to try and choke the disgusting stuff down.

AjasLipstick · 30/07/2018 23:47

Housewife water tastes like nothing. It's boring. I drink it because I have to but I don't like it. I find a can of full fat coke more refreshing than water! Grin Not that I allow myself more than one about every two weeks but I do love the stuff.

SoupDragon · 30/07/2018 23:54

Water tastes like water.
