To not understand people who dont drink hot drinks (lighthearted bit of fun, come join in)

I know i am being unreasonable.. everyone just likes what they like, im not daft...

But i cant imagine not having a hot drink. I drink both coffee and tea and try most of the new fandangled options that are forever coming onto the market. I use hot drinks as a way to relax and socialise. Almost all my friends drink hot drinks so its a bit alien to me to not have them..

What thing(s) do you absolutely love but cant get your head around other people disliking??

I cna't understand not giving ice in a drink of water to someone! I'm American and it feels really rude, like just flinging some tap water at the person. It's free for fucks sake.

AnExcellentUsername · 27/07/2018 13:57

Adults that don't like/drink water.

sirlee66 · 27/07/2018 14:07

Like my dear, old Ma used to say: 'A brew for any occasion'

You can have a cup of tea at a wedding or a funeral. It's always time for tea.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 27/07/2018 14:12

I love a cup of tea or a herbal tea, there is something very refreshing about scorching hot drinks you have to enjoy slowly.

Personally I don't like being drunk and I hate pubs. I like some alcoholic drinks and getting slightly tipsy but thats it. The great thing about getting older is you can have a social life without pubs, except gastro pubs!

Comeymemo · 27/07/2018 14:15

Funnily enough I had lunch today with someone I didn’t previously know, who said she has a huge aversion to hot drinks because of the sipping sound people make when drinking them. She said she is hypersensitive to that noise and it makes her want to murder them.

It’s only as I’m typing this that I now remember I ordered black tea about five minutes after her story. 😳

JurassicGirl · 27/07/2018 14:19

When I got back from the beach yesterday I had the best cup of tea!

Now it's raining here I've just had a lovely hot chocolate.

My DSS & his GF don't drink hot drinks, making a cuppa & a glass of water seems odd to me Shock

When I was about 18 i remember asking if there was any chance of a cup of tea in a nightclub - no chance apparently!

trinity0097 · 27/07/2018 14:22

Can’t stand the taste of tea or coffee. Means I don’t have this caffine fix desire every morning!

I love a few coffees a day. Will have a tea if i feel unwell at night... not sure why!

My neighbour doesnt touch either, she had to chap my door this morning to ask if i could make her workmen a coffee

Nikephorus · 27/07/2018 14:29

People who offer you a cup of tea and then reveal that they only have fruit or herbal stuff!!! You get my hopes up and then dash them?!!! Shock
And ditto to the non-reading, non-bookcase owning types. Just weird.

TrudeauGirl · 27/07/2018 14:34

People who don't eat breakfast Shock
If I don't eat breakfast I get sick and dizzy by 11:30.

Who's the rebels that skip breakfast? Mad people Grin

TrudeauGirl · 27/07/2018 14:35

Who are the rebels**

The heat has made my typing go down hill I think.

bringincrazyback · 27/07/2018 14:38

I do. First thing I do every morning is open a Red Bull. Go ahead and judge me, I already judge myself. Grin

Kaykay06 · 27/07/2018 14:41

I drink tea now, but for years when my kids were small (youngest are 7&8) I didn’t ever drink hot drinks, except v occasionally a hot chocolate. Not sure why, also didn’t occur to me to make visitors tea or coffee mostly because I don’t buy it. Or didn’t then.

I’m not sure why I’m drinking it now, I love a nice cuppa and enjoy trying different blends etc. Wasn’t anything to do with the kids being small or anything. No coffee though 😊 can’t stand taste or smell.

Purpleguitar · 27/07/2018 14:46

I don't drink tea or coffee but will have hot chocolate - just not on this weather! I've not had diet coke for 5 years as it was giving me chest pain and can't drink alcohol as I get an allergic reaction!! Good thing I'm happy to drink water really 😞

DoubleNegativePanda · 27/07/2018 14:49

My coworkers think I'm a complete loon as I've carried on drinking my hot tea in the morning when it's 43 degrees out. I still want my tea, thank you very much!

And actually I remember being told that drinking cold drinks too cool you down actually has the opposite effect. White it feels good in your throat, your body gets fired up trying to regulate it's temperature after you've thrown ice down there. So you heat up to equalize the temp and in the process get warmer than you were before. That being said, I still drink icy drinks when I'm not Grin

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/07/2018 14:59

I don't drink any. Can't bear the taste of tea and coffee, can't bear 'coffee culture' either.
I don't understand people who... play computer games or go to Wagamamas or Nandos. You know, all those so called usual things

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 27/07/2018 15:03

Not everyone who has an empty book case is a non reader!! I've been using a kindle or phone for years and years and I've moved continents.

I think it's weird that some people keep books to show how many books they've already read Grin

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 27/07/2018 15:03

I've moved continents.

So can't move everything I own, I mean. I wasn't just bragging about being well travelled!

strawberrry · 27/07/2018 15:10

No hot drinks for me thank you! If pushed I can about cope with a hot chocolate or heavily flavoured coffee 😂 - I could count on one hand how many hot drinks I have per year!

runningkeenster · 27/07/2018 15:28

I like coffee and tea but I don't like tea without sugar, I simply don't enjoy it, so I drink very little of it. I can drink coffee without sugar though. I don't find all coffee bitter, there are plenty of milder ones that taste really nice.

And I don't get the pet thing either - too much work, too expensive, too restrictive - ie you have to worry about them when you want to go away. Much like kids in fact.

NorthenderNamechanger · 27/07/2018 15:43

I love animals, I just think they belong outside in the wild. I love spotting them doing what they do when I'm out for walks in the woods and beach.

I don't think pet owners are weird though.

People who don't drink hot drinks though, well! WinkBrew

LemonBreeland · 27/07/2018 15:50

So nice to see people on this thread who also don't like hot drinks. I only have two real life friends who don't drink hot drinks. I do like a hot chocolate when it is cold, but will drink a cold drink after it as I just don't like the feel of hot liquids in my mouth. I realise that this is odd, and I know many British people in particular struggle to understand not having hot drinks.

tobee · 27/07/2018 16:13

I like tea, coffee, wine, dogs, cats and telly.
I love books too. I used to babysit when a teenager and my 2 regulars were lecturers and always had loads of lovely books. I used to go round my babysitting households and look at them all on the shelves. Then I had one babysitting gig where they had no books Shock(it's all right, I didn't open closed cupboards) . They were lovely, intelligent people with loads to chat about but ... no books!!! ShockShockShockConfusedConfusedConfused

MrSpock · 27/07/2018 16:16

Drinks are far nicer cold

I only drink hot drinks if it’s really cold and even then only fruit tea.
