I know i am being unreasonable.. everyone just likes what they like, im not daft...

But i cant imagine not having a hot drink. I drink both coffee and tea and try most of the new fandangled options that are forever coming onto the market. I use hot drinks as a way to relax and socialise. Almost all my friends drink hot drinks so its a bit alien to me to not have them..

What thing(s) do you absolutely love but cant get your head around other people disliking??

Tea and coffee taste horrible. If it’s a really cold wet day and I feel a bit ill I might have a hot chocoate but I can’t think of anything worse than hot drinks on a hot day anyway or those people who cannot function till they have their morning coffee.

Tea: dirty water
Coffee: dirty water with a hint of evil
Dogs: I'm allergic to them, but they also smell and a lot of dog owners put me off with their failure to keep them away from my children's faces, so I have to shive them out of the way and end up with all the skin coming off my hands!

I also don't like jelly, ice cream, or cake and people look at me like they can't believe I have kids if they find out I'm such a 'party food' refuser.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 27/07/2018 17:03

I don't like coffee but I love tea if it's made properly. I recently made a triptych photo of the stages of making a decent cup of tea and it came 2nd place in a couple of local competitions! Brew
I don't understand people who take a load of photos on holiday or a daytrip or wherever and just upload them all onto facebook without weeding out the wonky and blurry ones first! 📷
I don't understand how people can not have a TV - what does all their furniture point at?! Grin 📺

foxtiger · 27/07/2018 17:04

My DH doesn't like tea or coffee, but it's not the hotness of them he doesn't like, it's those two specific tastes. In cold weather he will sometimes drink hot chocolate, hot Ribena or Cup-a-Soup. I find it surprising that there are people who won't drink anything hot, even if they're freezing, but it doesn't really worry me.

JamesBlonde1 · 27/07/2018 17:10

My friend doesn’t drink tea or coffee. Lovely as she is she is immature in this regard. No special needs just acts like a child in not trying new things. Knowing her parents I can see where it comes from.

She has a poor diet and she knows it, all crap with no veg or fruit. Her parents are the same. Drinks that cola without calories.

Accendo - you are me!

Can't understand anyone who doesn't like reading, I've always got a book or two on the go - and a pile by my bed.

And I have never drunk tea or coffee, or any other hot drink, just never fancied it. Cold drinks all the way. Am a teacher though and do envy the coffee other teachers seem to love in the morning.

mizu · 27/07/2018 17:15

Just been reading down this thread and can't believe so many of us don't drink tea or coffee!

AnExcellentUsername · 27/07/2018 17:22

@JamesBlonde1

I am the least fussiest eater on the planet. My mother always said I would eat shit if it was put in front of me.

I don't like tea or coffee.

You have never been a slave to a cat overlord.

I have never chosen to own a cat I have always had strays select me. She has me fully trained in what and when to feed her, she comes and goes as she pleases.

WhipItGood · 27/07/2018 18:08

I don’t drink hot drinks. Ive really tried too because I can totally see it’s a grown up social thing to do and refusing a ‘cuppa’ is like refusing to join in. People look so crestfallen Confused (Especially at work where a nice cup of tea is what makes the place go round)

It’s embarrassing when your host then in desperation offers you the sticky squash from the back of the cupboard that they get in for their dc and you feel about 5 Blush

I feel I must be missing something that eludes me. I hope I don’t suddenly realise what the fuss was all about when I’m very old and it’s too late to squeeze in the eleventy million cuppas I never had Grin

ProfessorMoody · 27/07/2018 18:15

Hot drinks are rank.

I don't understand people who enjoy drinking alcohol.

poppy196 · 27/07/2018 18:44

I have one bucket size coffee in morning and that's it for the day , and then sparkling water all day .
Always suprised when people say they dislike pets , Probably unfair but I do judge and love any animal with a passion so do tend to distance myself from them as I realise my one passion of animal wellfair won't be the same for them

NorbertTheDragon · 27/07/2018 18:55

Coffee is the devils own foul tasting beverage. I don't understand how anyone can even stand the disgusting stench of it, let alone put it in their mouths. Envy

Tea is also not that nice, but I drink it when I have a cold as it makes me feel better. But I have it really milky and sugary to take away the yucky tea taste!

Hot chocolate is nice, in winter, made by someone else in a cafe.

When I was a child I thought coffee was a grown ups drink and I would like it as an adult. Maybe I just haven't grown up enough yet? Grin

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/07/2018 21:28

Hot drinks just don't seem natural to me. We have to heat them up first..animals don't do this to drink. They all leave a strong aftertaste with me.
One of the good points about not having them is getting out of the tea rota at work. Also not having to drink out of skanky barely washed out mugs. I worked in enough places that just had one grotty sink with no hot water (and having to boil up to wash the mugs, so no one ever did), to be put off hot drinks for ever, not to mention the stained cups with lipstick marks.

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/07/2018 21:29

and don't get me started on the mouldy tea towels used to wipe out those never washed mugs! The mugs end up tasting of tea towel. And if you bring your own in it just gets broken or pinched.. So..that was a big factor for me, giving up hot drinks in my teens

GeekyBlinders · 27/07/2018 21:31

I drink hot drinks in winter (or in summer if I have a cold/sore throat) and cold drinks in summer. I actually like drinking water - it's my favourite drink. I get that that is unusual!

Reallylosingitthistime · 27/07/2018 21:56

Oops I am on the odd list fully....

I don't drink any hot drinks, I just don't really like them and I don't read books anymore but I read and write so many reports for work that I am just too text tired at the end of the day to pick up a book anymore, I think I last read a book about 5 years ago!

Come to think of it... I am also not at all interested in other people's pets so am probably odd for that too.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 28/07/2018 06:29

I've never really understood people being gifted readers but not reading for pleasure. DD's reading age at 6 was assessed as 12, she didn't really get into reading for pleasure until she was 7. I didn't understand, I've always had my head in a book.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 28/07/2018 06:52

CoalTit my aunt used to give her dog tea in a dog teacup, larger and shallower than normal.

SoupDragon · 28/07/2018 06:55

I don't drink any hot drinks, I just don't really like them

Is it the temperature or just that you don’t like tea/coffee/hot chocolate?

AlmostPerfect1955 · 28/07/2018 09:13

As my mum used to say, there’s only one thing better than a cup of tea....... TWO cups!

VeraViolet · 28/07/2018 09:21

I hate tea and coffee as they taste so vile.

Coffee is so bitter and horrid, and tea just tastes like watery, flavourless leaves.

I don't drink any alcohol either, because I hate the taste.

dontgobaconmyheart · 28/07/2018 09:27

Another one here who doesn't really "get' hot drinks- they're ok and I will have the odd one if it's cold weather but can't do caffeine or milk (legitimate health reasons) so it's quite a faff and I don't like to open a carton of dairy free milk just for a splash in the decaf coffee/hot chocolate so usually end up not bothering. Definitely never in the summer, the day, anywhere other than home. Cracking up at my own weird 'rules.

Tbh I only really have them when I fancy dunking biscuits in them, then drink half out of guilt and leave the rest. They are merely a vessel for my penchant for a dipped choccy digestive.

AnxiousPeg · 28/07/2018 09:31

I must admit I am suspicious of people who don't drink tea or coffee. Or those people who go for hot chocolate as if it's the same sort of thing. It's not! It's a liquid pudding!

I don't like any sweet drinks. It's water, tea, coffee (no sugar) or a dry glass of wine.

I think quite a lot of adults these days retain the palette of a child...

MissusGeneHunt · 28/07/2018 09:34

I hate having a bath, or going into a hot tub, or even having a spa day!!

Showers for me, and I find sitting around in a tub of water both boring and scummy...

Each their own!!!
