Who's watching?
I love George.

Agree with alias. If his victim had been a woman that he'd tied up and beaten he would've been slated to the heavens and back on here.
He comes across well but being charming doesn't detract from vicious sex crimes

MoonsAndJunes · 26/07/2018 09:07

I forgot about all the previous BG threads and how they go.

Why is this do you think?

derxa · 26/07/2018 09:07

Sparkling Sad

You did make it obvious in the thread title that it was about the TV programme you were watching too.

longwayoff · 26/07/2018 09:12

This is ridiculous. What you see is manufactured for you to buy, across the board, with all famous zlebs. If you expect them to be 'a lovely person' you are likely to be disappointed. Therefore when our expectations of loveliness are confounded we need to remind ourselves they're only people who, like the rest of us occasionally screw up and behave like a fool. That doesnt make us vile and horrible people, just makes all of us human.

MoonsAndJunes · 26/07/2018 09:15

WDYTYA is as much about the person featured as it is about their family history.
The two are interconnected obviously.
People are naturally going to comment on BG on a thread about BG.

ShirleyPhallus · 26/07/2018 09:18

Absolutely agree with the “me too” movement showing that one sexual assault that makes the headlines is usually the tip of the iceberg

SouthWestmom · 26/07/2018 09:18

don't know if it's wishful thinking on my part, but his external speech during the programme and my responses inside my mind were in near perfect harmony. It was weird.

You may need to get out more.

Don't care about BG having his roots discussed - as a mentor maybe that's off, but all sorts of supposedly hideous people are still hanging around and visible.

Eliza9917 · 26/07/2018 09:22

Ok thanks, I've heard of it but not seen it, we don't have live tv, just netflix etc.

ShirleyPhallus · 26/07/2018 09:23

Sexually assaulting someone does make them a vile and horrible person

Yoksha · 26/07/2018 09:28

Noeuf....Grin

SouthWestmom · 26/07/2018 09:29

Sorry @Yoksha Grin

Yoksha · 26/07/2018 09:33

I didn't expand on what I meant. I meant his responses were guarded and careful. He didn't jump in and dominate the meetings. I meant he was articulate from the aspect of how he conducted himself.

Ooh! I shouldn't post this early when I've just had all my tablets.

FoofFighter · 26/07/2018 09:42

Only ever cried once before at WDYTYA (other was one about a train crash but I can't remember whose it was now)
This one brought me to tears too. I can't imagine how it must've felt for George to be in the hanging room.

Yoksha · 26/07/2018 09:42

Noeuf no worries. I admire you're constructive honesty. And as a bonus I get to hone my conversation skills on here and learn healthier conversation dynamics for dealing with my semantic, pedantic, super-intelligent, pain in the arse Dh. He always tells me he knows when I've been on Mn. I become a delight to converse with.

On Annie Lennox, just to be more clear. I should have said that her ancestors were poor. I came from a similar background in Edinburgh. Cheryl Cole from Newcastle. People who improve their lot in life through subsequent generations fascinate me. Yes you're correct, I do need to get out more. Grin

PeppermintPasty · 26/07/2018 09:45

Why are so many people so angry on here about the reactions to his crimes? Of course people are going to bring them up. I had completely forgotten, I'm ashamed to say, until they were mentioned here. We should remember them.

Anyway, is it because we're all 'of a certain age' and don't like to be reminded that erstwhile heroes often have feet of clay? In his case, feet, legs, the whole package?

PeppermintPasty · 26/07/2018 09:54

Is that to me MoonsandJunes? If so, you misunderstand me, i am talking to the people defending him and being angry at others bringing up his crimes. He is repellent to me.

PeppermintPasty · 26/07/2018 09:55

Doh, bold fail 🙄

mrsnec · 26/07/2018 09:56

I thought it was very interesting and thought he came across as intelligent, articulate and genuine.

Like many celebrities I just see him as someone with a troubled past but I've always found him interesting and I love his music. In response to someone else up thread, I thought I had seen him say in an interview at some point that he had a mutual respect with George Michael but they were never friends and it was something about egos.

I wouldn't say I'm an avid viewer of WDYTYA but I've watched a few over the years. The emotional and memorable ones for me were Alan Cumming and Meera Syal.

BertrandRussell · 26/07/2018 09:56

“we need to remind ourselves they're only people who, like the rest of us occasionally screw up and behave like a fool. That doesnt make us vile and horrible people, just makes all of us human.”

Yeah, any one of us could accidentally committed sexual assault and gone to,prison for it. Just a youthful indiscretion- at the age of 47........

MoonsAndJunes · 26/07/2018 09:56

peppermint
No! I just happened to post after your comment! It was to all the 'fans' - it's obvious from your post that you're not one of them! Smile

PeppermintPasty · 26/07/2018 10:01
