... on the assumption that you are! This isn't the thread for negativity! Mine are:

  • knowing what clothes to wear each day
  • sitting out in the evening and talking with DP instead of watching TV/doing admin
  • actually drinking Pimms rather than having a bottle going fusty at the back of the cupboard
  • being able to confidently plan outings/outdoor social events

I've had barely any washing to do because my 4 month old spends the day in her nappy! (Unless we go out)

VeganCanBeFabulous · 24/07/2018 17:55

Wearing flip flops every day.

Being able to make outdoor plans everyday.

Being reasonably confident that our UK holiday will not be ruined by crap weather this year.

It being completely acceptable to sit on the sofa in a t-shirt and pants of an evening.

I am getting a lovely golden glow just from walking to school/work.

Really getting to appreciate the air conditioning at work.

We have really got our money’s worth from the paddling pool this year.

Saving money because outdoor activities with the kids are generally free 👍🏼

I have lost weight because it’s too hot to eat much and I am drinking about 6 gallons of water a day.

VeganCanBeFabulous · 24/07/2018 17:58

Also feeling reasonably confident that my grumpy sun-loving Dad will not be able to say “we didn’t really have much of a summer this year” come Autumn.... although there is no guarantee.

Timeandtune · 24/07/2018 18:00

Definitely being able to hang a washing out and know for certain it won’t be rained upon. I feel like I am in California.

Firstnameterms · 24/07/2018 18:03

Another one who loves not having to plan for the weather! I haven’t checked a weather forecast for weeks! Will be so hard when it goes back to random rain showers Grin

Also it is two fingers up to the gas company, bet they will raise their prices this winter to combat the lack of energy we are all using though Hmm

flumposie · 24/07/2018 18:07

Wearing clothes I usually only wear abroad. Bike rides with my daughter in an evening. just feeling more positive in general.

theredjellybean · 24/07/2018 18:11

Making tonnes of bit d
Reliability.. Can decide now to go to beach at weekend.
Feeling warm
No muddy dogs after walks
Easy clothes.. Shorts, t-shirt or sundress
Actually hanging washing out.. I hVe never done this before it's amazing.

PinkBuffalo · 24/07/2018 18:12

Not having to cut the grass!

JuneFromBethesda · 24/07/2018 18:14

Early morning dog walks when the day is still fresh, the sky is blue and the woods are cool. Bliss.

This heat is the perfect excuse to eat icecream 😁

MelanieSmooter · 24/07/2018 18:14

The knowledge that every day of it means we’re closer to autumn.

ForalltheSaints · 24/07/2018 18:46

Not having to take an umbrella with me anywhere.

Bonkerz · 24/07/2018 18:48

Loving my hot tub which doesn't have to be warmed
Loving that the kids don't want to eat cooked meals so I can be lazy mum and let them independently make sarnies
Love only having cold cider in fridge ;0)

HunterofStars · 24/07/2018 19:00

The only four positives for me are:

  1. Washing dries quickly.
  1. Using less electricity.
  1. I lose my appetite in heat so eating less and not having to cook.
  1. It's getting closer to autumn.
BetsyBigNose · 24/07/2018 19:01

Looking like I've spent a month in the Caribbean - I've never had such a good tan!
Washing being dry within an hour or two of being hung out.
Being able to entertain the kids simply by taking them to the park for a few hours with a picnic.
Ice lollies. Lots and lots of ice lollies!
Having a week of camping booked from the end of this week and not having to dread what on Earth I'm going to do with 2 DDs if it pisses down all week.
Sitting on the balcony, reading a book for an hour in the evening.
Wearing summer dresses and not having to take cardigans everywhere for me and the kids.
Birkenstocks!
Having such brown legs that no one can tell whether I've bothered to shave them or not, unless they get up close! Grin

BlueJava · 24/07/2018 19:04

Easy dressing for work. Sandals every day. I wear sunglasses to work. The feel on the sun on my bare legs as I wait for the overground train.

MissusGeneHunt · 24/07/2018 19:05

Wearing flip flops / thongs all day every day;
Seeing local children having fun in the water hole;
ME having fun with the dogs in the water hole! (don't worry, no children present at the same time!) ;
Lack of having to take Vit D;
Just being blooming happier!!

AtreidesFreeWoman · 24/07/2018 19:05

The heat :-)

I hate being cold.

I'm loving the weather Blush

CraftyGin · 24/07/2018 19:05

I am fully justified in doing nothing all day.

sickmumma · 24/07/2018 19:08

We have a bestway framed pool - absolute bliss floating round on my lilo reading a book 😬

Not having to cook proper meals - jacket potatoes,Picnic dinners etc!

Eating lots of ice cream/ lollies to 'cool down'

I do feel sorry for my poor dog though (we have a husky) despite investing in cooling beds, ice packs in water bowl etc she spends her day in front of the fan asleep and is missing out on some of her walks!

Threehoursfromhome · 24/07/2018 19:23

I'm really enjoying it, though I know a lot of people aren't.

Hair has bleached from 'mouse with grey bits' to streaky blonde.

Lovely walk to work through the park without fear of getting wet.

A 'new' wardrobe of summer clothes which I never get to wear in the UK.

Painting my toenails and knowing it will be worth the effort.

Less washing, and washing drying in no time.

Going to barbecues and not having one where someone cooks beneath an umbrella, while the rest of us watch from the kitchen.

Losing a couple of pounds due to all the salads.

House which can be cold and damp in winter, being cool and airy right now.

I could go on Grin

Mogleflop · 24/07/2018 19:55

I wish I did love it. I do honestly try to remember others do.

My happy thought (?) when I'm trying to be reasonable and not feel panicky is that at least people who live on the streets or in houses they can't afford to heat are having some warm nights.

lljkk · 24/07/2018 20:03

Getting good use out of my summer clothes.
Feeling like I have plenty of Vit D.
Being warm, no pain in my hands, neck or ears.
Swimming in the sea.
Never cold on a cycle ride.
Almost everyone is tan & no one is sunburnt.
Walking outside barefoot, wearing sandals (cycling sandals esp)
Washing dries so quick

wonkylegs · 24/07/2018 20:29

Family water fights
My produce I have been watering religiously has gone mad - raspberries, strawberries, cucumbers and almost tomatoes
Late evening wanders round the grounds with DH watching the owls & bats
It's so hot the grass has stopped growing so we don't have to cut it as often.

dinodora · 24/07/2018 20:39

No slugs

dinodora · 24/07/2018 20:40

But no slugs worried me for the birds.

I'm struggling to find positive things now!
