... on the assumption that you are! This isn't the thread for negativity! Mine are:

  • knowing what clothes to wear each day
  • sitting out in the evening and talking with DP instead of watching TV/doing admin
  • actually drinking Pimms rather than having a bottle going fusty at the back of the cupboard
  • being able to confidently plan outings/outdoor social events

RunMummyRun my sales figures!!!

I think we should try and guess what RunMummyRun68 sells. I’m going for ice cream van Grin

runningkeenster · 24/07/2018 16:54

Being able to wash clothes and have them dry really quickly.

Not needing to take a cardigan/jacket out.

Being able to cycle to the station rather than worrying about if it might be raining when I get back (I am a fair-weather cyclist!)

seventhgonickname · 24/07/2018 16:57

Just had my fuel bill, soon happy about that!
That when I get home at 7pm it's still warm enough to sit out, makes e feel less cooped up.
That is is due to continue so that I can go inside to sort things without feeling I might miss summer.

McFugget · 24/07/2018 17:03

Becoming practically feral and only coming indoors to sleep. Bliss! Eating all meals outdoors and not even fretting whether the black specks are bugs or bits of black pepper.

LilithTheKitty · 24/07/2018 17:04

•Not having to wear loads of layers.
•Not being in pain.
•Actually feeling warm.
Last two are courtesy of Raynauds syndrome. Being cold hurts and I'm always cold.

OopsPardonMrsArden · 24/07/2018 17:05

Ice cold chablis

thornyhousewife · 24/07/2018 17:10

I'm cooking as little as possible. So lots of salad and cold cuts and pickles and bread 😊

GreenShadow · 24/07/2018 17:11

The clothes (or relative lack of them).
I love living in shorts, vests and summer dresses.
Being able to go out with worrying about whether to take a jumper or a rain coat.

And of course, just being lovely and warm all the time.

sulflower · 24/07/2018 17:11

Getting washing on the line and being able to wear summer clothes that normally only get an outing in sunnier climes and are usually packed away until holiday time. This has got to be the best summer we've seen in Scotland for many a year!

TuesdaysAreGrim · 24/07/2018 17:11

A lot of these are only advantages if you've got a garden, which several of us city dwellers do not.

However OP, since you asked for no negativity, then my thing I'm enjoying most is being able to stay indoors all day with the blinds and shutters closed and not feeling guilty about doing so.

gluteustothemaximus · 24/07/2018 17:14

Whilst it's tough with a toddler at night, thinking positively, these are what is making me happy:

Washing actually dries!
No heating on, and no tumble drier on, so saving money there.
Sitting out in then garden until late with DH and kids. Feels like we're abroad, and seeing as there's no holiday again this year, this is a good thing!

mydogisthebest · 24/07/2018 17:21

Being able to dry washing on the line
Being able to wear summer clothes some of which I have had a few years and only worn once or twice
Being able to wear sandals (I got sick of wearing boots in the never ending winter)
Not having to have the heating on (and saving money)
Not having to sit wrapped in a throw every evening even with the heating on

delphguelph · 24/07/2018 17:26

A tan.
Eating outside.
Wearing summery clothes.
Eating more salads, fruits etc so looking good.

StereophonicallyChallenged · 24/07/2018 17:32

Really low energy bills, now we're a few weeks in ive noticed on my monthly statement that we've hardly used any. Result!!

People are generally cheerier.

Parking at work loads easier this last few weeks as loads more of the parents at the nearby primaries walk it. Holidays now, so annual 6 weeks of 8.45am parking happiness Smile

StereophonicallyChallenged · 24/07/2018 17:33

Plus all the other things already mentioned 😂 I love it!

JellyBears · 24/07/2018 17:33

I love leaving th house in a light cool outfit knowing I won’t be cold by the afternoon!!

Baubletrouble43 · 24/07/2018 17:34

I have tanned legs for the first time since about 2003!!!

Alicatz66 · 24/07/2018 17:34

Flip Flops
Cold wine
Bees

FuckMePinkAndCallMeCedric · 24/07/2018 17:37

Drying the washing outside
Knowing the rabbit is happy outside all day (she hates the rain and has plenty of shade and water)
The garden is covered in chalk drawings by the children and they’ve played together nearly everyday (nicely) for hours

MumInTheCity · 24/07/2018 17:40

Long evenings in pub gardens, picnics, swimming at the lido, day trips to the seaside, summer dresses and sandals, barbecues with friends - so many lovely things! I'll be so sad when it's over.

twilightcafe · 24/07/2018 17:40

A proper summer for once!
Long, lazy evenings

AnnabelleLecter · 24/07/2018 17:47

Summer clothes
Sitting out until after 9pm then retreating into the conservatory with the doors wide open until all hours
Being able to plan things without having a wet weather back up.
Going for late walks with the dogs to our favourite pubs (with insect repellent)

FatTory · 24/07/2018 17:49

My tan
Paddling pool with the kids
Long evenings with the children playing and going out for walks without getting cold as soon as the sun goes in
Not thinking about clothes just pull on shorts bikini top and vest everyday
Spending so much time outside that I’m exhausted by the end of the day and sleep like the dead
Knowing that if I have a bad day (chronic illness) that I haven’t missed the only day of summer

parklives · 24/07/2018 17:49

The single positive I am getting is I don't have to mow my lawn as all my grass has completely died.
I'm hoping it will grow back in the winter, otherwise that small advantage now is going to be a big, shit, expensive job to re-turf in the future.

Other than that I am absolutely fucking hating this weather.
I like the sun, but it's not even sunny most of the time, just bloody humid!
No end in sight, I am dreaming of winter!

52FestiveRoad · 24/07/2018 17:52

I have not had to cut my grass in weeks, because it has just gone yellow instead of growing! But then so has the rest of my garden which is not good news....
