Film

I met my fiancee when he worked at my father's garage...but then he decided to change careers and won't set the date until he's established in his new profession. I only wish he'd let me help him so that we can get on with a lifetime of bickering, pool playing and discussing the differences between a 1964 Buick Skylark and a 1963 Pontiac tempest.

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 10:51

@Yambabe Mort?

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 11:04

Book and Film

I first met my husband when I was 6 and he was 28. He was married when I met him. He is a lock pick and a thief. Our relationship has struggled because he can never stay in one place and I am always waiting for him to come back.

MissLingoss · 22/07/2018 11:28

Kiki The Time Traveler's Wife?

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 12:46

@MissLingoss yes!

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 12:51

More clues for this one:

“DH and I have 3 children. DS1 and DD seem fine but I’m worried about DS2. I can’t really feel as much of a connection to him as my third child. I am proud of him but also he reminds me of what this society has become. He’s gone off to a kind of boarding school and doesn’t want to see any of the family except DD. Also he killed 2 people by the age of 10. AIBU to worry about this?”

From another character’s POV:

The adults in my life are always trying to control me. I’m exceptionally smart for my age and I understand that sometimes you have to do the wrong thing for the right reason. However I wouldn’t have gone as far as genocide if I hadn’t been deceived.

MipMipMip · 22/07/2018 15:49

Blimey Oil I, I don't know your book but I'm slightly terrified!

MipMipMip · 22/07/2018 15:49

Kiki, weird autocorrectConfused

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 17:06

@Mipmipmip what is?

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 17:06

It is meant to say genocide.

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 17:08

Hopefully not too cavalier a use of it as it is technically correct in the novel but not meaning to offend.

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 17:09

I’m thinking maybe nobody has read this book though so if nobody gets it now I’ll leave it be!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 22/07/2018 18:39

I'm intrigued by yours Kiki bit I have definitely never read it!

Violetglace · 22/07/2018 19:15

Kiki is it Ender's Game?

(may have made an account just to guess this so hoping I'm not going to look like a tit if I'm wrong!)

KittyHawke80 · 22/07/2018 19:21

5LeadClover

The difference is positraction. ‘My Cousin Vinny’.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 22/07/2018 19:22

TV

I'm a cop, I'm good at my job, but can be a bit of arsehole and all my superiors end up hating me because I undermine them

I'm divorced and have two wonderful boys

Recently whilst out with my children I spotted a suspect who has proven quite elusive

I got them to tail him as a "game" and then lost them

AIBU to tell my colleagues my wife is a cunt for threatening to withhold access and taking me to court?

I'll do it from other POVs if no one gets it

MissLingoss · 22/07/2018 19:25

I'm a cop, I'm good at my job, but can be a bit of arsehole and all my superiors end up hating me because I undermine them

That describes most fictional cops, doesn't it? Smile

No takers for mine on p.7?

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 22/07/2018 19:28

I also once took a drugged up informant to my child's football game - ex wife had a face on then too

arranfan · 22/07/2018 19:32

It was McNulty, the suspect was Stringer Bell, but I don't recall the series of The Wire that it was. (I had a brief moment thinking it was Luther because of Idris Elba.)

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 19:35

@Violetglace you wouldn’t look like a tit- but yes, you got it!

LetticeFortescue · 22/07/2018 19:35

Book
I'm an old woman living in Norfolk - round about Holt and Blajeney- on the marshes. It's very damp in my run down house and sometimes I get cut off by the tides.
My memory isn't great but I remember a boy, and a chicken house that got burned down.
I eat a lot of samphire.
I wrote my story down in a book and a real life local authority did me a picture for the cover. Her name is Angela Lewin.
Disclaimer I read this book about 10 years ago and cannot remember the name or the author even though I can remember the cover illustrator. So if anyone does recognise it I'll be very grateful as I'd like to read it again Smile

LetticeFortescue · 22/07/2018 19:40

Not a real life local authority - a real life local ARTIST!

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 19:41

@MissLingoss no sorry the only thing I can think of is the Talented Mr Ripley which I saw a long time ago because I think I remember a yacht but I don’t think that’s right.

kikisparks · 22/07/2018 19:44

@LetticeFortescue haha I did wonder I was imagining someone from the local council coming out to take a photo Grin it’s not familiar I’m afraid but I hope someone knows it!

MissLingoss · 22/07/2018 19:54

kiki, no, it's older than that.

If no-one gets it this evening, I'll give a clue. It's possibly not read much these days, but I should think someone here knows it.
