Yep Barab. I was inspired by the last post! Grin

TarquinGyrfalcon · 21/07/2018 20:27

MissLingoss - Yes it is!

drudgewithagrudge · 21/07/2018 20:28

My DH is a kind and loving man. The only word to describe him is "good". He is old enough to be my father but he took me in when I had nowhere else to go. When he was a young man his wife and baby died and he was a widower for many years.
My past is unhappy and rather colourful but he married me and adores our DS.

I know that he will die in the near future but try not to think about it. The son of his life long friend has returned home after getting up to all sorts of mischief and is paying me a lot of attention. It's nice to talk to someone my age who my DS can play football with but I try not to encourage the relationship.

If you guess this be very careful what you say about this book as it is my all time favourite.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 21/07/2018 20:41

Drudge! Surely Gilead, please tell me you've read Home too, the end of Home is an absolute sucker punch in light of the end of Gilead

drudgewithagrudge · 21/07/2018 21:02

I've read Lila but not Home. I just love Rev John Ames.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 21/07/2018 21:02

I am a young up and coming movie star. Mother and I are holidaying in the Riveriea (it isn't very fashionable, but we wanted to get away from everyone as I am recovering from an illness).
We've met up with a group of people on the beach and they really are a motley assortment - however one of them has such charm, personality ad charisma that I have fallen head over heels.
I've come to a party at his house and his (beautiful) wife has been in the bathroom for a disproportionate amount of tine and everyone seems very tense - their friend Tommy is acting really oddly.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 21/07/2018 21:08

Drudge you have to stop what you are doing right now and buy Home, or start Home if you own it

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 21/07/2018 21:09

Tarq is that a Fitzgerald ?

TarquinGyrfalcon · 21/07/2018 21:10

MrStark - it is indeed

MipMipMip · 21/07/2018 21:29

In fairness The Host isn't actually a bad book. I'm being unfair to it.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 21/07/2018 21:30

Tender Is The Night?!

drudgewithagrudge · 21/07/2018 21:32

Mr Stark I have ordered it from the library two minutes ago. Thanks for the tip

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 21/07/2018 21:34

Basically if you've only read Gilead, you've only read one half of the same story

MipMipMip · 21/07/2018 21:34

Do you read Home or Giliad first?

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 21/07/2018 21:48

Gilead

TarquinGyrfalcon · 21/07/2018 22:04

Yes "MrStark* Tender is The Night

Tanith · 21/07/2018 22:42

Thank you Mip! Justin lived! (weeps tears of joy!)
I had no idea there was a sequel. The film doesn't look as good, but I shall definitely invest in the book.

MipMipMip · 21/07/2018 22:44

Two sequels actually. Enjoy.

MipMipMip · 21/07/2018 22:44

Refused to watch the film as the style looks terrible and takes the charm away.

brattitude · 21/07/2018 22:54

I'm a book and a TV series.

And I am wearing a shirt my mother for me from a CND jumble sale. The Canadian lumberjack it used to belong to though had a perspiration problem though.

I hated my father...but I cant believe he's dead now. He drank and beat me up regularly, just for fun. I'm no angel myself, (it's hard to get a job when you're face don't fit) but I'm not a killer. I kind of wish I had stabbed him now...because I reckon I'm going to be found guilty anyway.

12 Amgry Men?

neitherfleshnorfowl · 22/07/2018 00:38

@Lancelottie: Eureka. Thanks for that.

I did a search on Fant Fic and it brought up every title with "her" in it, from the most recent/most popular backwards. A very looong list and I didn't have the stamina to look. Google brought up the book I mentioned.

MissLingoss · 22/07/2018 00:57

Book and film, which is quite faithful to the book, as film adaptations go.

I'm a (very) junior official at the Foreign Office. I was stuck in the office all summer, while everyone else was away enjoying country house parties. When I was finally able to take some leave, I had nowhere to go; all the house parties had broken up. I had a letter from a chap I was vaguely friendly with at university, asking if I'd like to join him on his yacht for a cruise in the Baltic or the North Sea. A bit late in the year for that, but I had nothing better to do. I packed my yachting outfit and started out. Little did I know what I was letting myself in for....

Yambabe · 22/07/2018 01:23

Book.

I didn't fit into the family business so I've got a new job but I'm not sure I'm really cut out for it. The boss is OK but a bit weird and the bloke who works for him gives me the creeps. I try really hard but I've made a couple of mistakes and now some really weird stuff is happening. The boss's daughter is a bit of alright though!

5LeafClover · 22/07/2018 10:10

Tangerine. Yes! (Glad someone got it, I thought after I posted that I should have mentioned the flat by the El-train to make it easier).
