To tell you about Galaxy Ripples

Grrr! Galaxy Ripples seemed to be one of few remaining chocolate bars that hadn't changed and been ruined. Until today. I bought one to have with a cuppa at lunchtime and what's happened? It's turned into some sort of disgusting waxy shit. It was like cheap cooking chocolate. I actually threw half of it in the bin. Obviously the palm oil has 'got it'.

RIP Galaxy Ripple Angry

Complain to galaxy directly of enough tool consoling they will more than likely look into it

whymewhyme · 19/07/2018 22:50

Well thank you auto correct, you have made me look like a knob!

comeherepetal · 19/07/2018 22:50

What is wrong with palm oil? Blush

Tinkobell · 19/07/2018 22:53

If anyone's bought Rolos recently they are MINISCULE! Once upon a time, Rolos were a real gob filler. You were well chuffed if someone gave you a Rolo, but now they are scaled to suit The Borrowers 😞

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 19/07/2018 22:53

Haven’t had a ripple in yonks, want one now

Paranoidorno · 19/07/2018 22:54

Swap your ripples for ...

I recently discovered this - Waitrose milk chocolate with feuilletine and sea salt. I swear to god it is the most delicious chocolate ever invented.

But it now seems to be out of stock everywhere. If you see it, get it. Sooo goood.

Palm oil tastes horrible, really claggy, oily texture to the chocolate and is responsible for the deaths of orangutans.

SpaceDinosaur · 19/07/2018 22:57

Nnnnnoooooooooooo 😭

Beamur · 19/07/2018 22:57

Tunnocks...mmm
I'm no fan of Dairy milk but am saddened by the prospect of rubbish Galaxy. Lindt is good who ever was asking, but I really would recommend Montezumas, especially the giant buttons. Bit pricey relative to Cadburys but really chocolately and still the right amount of sweet.

Tinkobell · 19/07/2018 22:58

If you are more inclined to the milkier chocolate as per Galaxy....then I recommend Marabou which is sold in the foody bit of Ikea. If you like chocolatier chocolate which is milky but not diary then Ombar pushes all the buttons - it's raw cacao and coconut and very addictive.

Slightlyjaded · 19/07/2018 23:00

Oh I've got another ok (for now) chocolate offering: M&S Walnut Whip. No Palm oil and not as powdery as some of the other 'Whips'.

Wishiwasa · 19/07/2018 23:00

Ironically tescos value chocolate is Palm oil free. I know this from making chocolate crispy breasts at Easter with my toddler group.

FASH84 · 19/07/2018 23:01

Thornton's don't use palm oil, the only fat in their normal chocolate is cocoa butter. Does give it a fairly low melting point which is not ideal in this weather, but makes it delicious and melty in the mouth

Slightlyjaded · 19/07/2018 23:01

YYY to Marabou - good shout @Tinkobell. Creamy but not too creamy. Mmmmm

Wishiwasa · 19/07/2018 23:01

*chocolate crispy NESTS, although breasts might have been more interesting!

KarinVogel · 19/07/2018 23:01

I make a special trip to Lidl to buy their almond milk chocolate bars
They really do have that many almonds in each chunk and are so satisfying to eat. Lovely chocolate and nice crunchy nuts !
Of course all of their other chocolate is nice too but I love almonds!

PhilomenaFogg · 19/07/2018 23:04

Ffs why do they have to mess with things?? I like montezumas lime choc but its expensive and hard to find (waitrose used to sell it plus I hardly ever shop in there!) para what is feuillitine when it's at home? Just in case I don't get to ever taste it as mners will have bought any remaining stock up! Grin

AlecOrAlonzo · 19/07/2018 23:05

Aldi chocolate is lovely. Moser Roth and other brands. I stockpile it whenever I am near an Aldi.

PhilomenaFogg · 19/07/2018 23:05

Crispy breasts and crunchy nuts?! Am I on the wrong thread?! Grin

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 23:06

I had a Twirl yesterday fucking tasteless
White Green and Blacks also not the same

There needs to be a MASSIVE online campaign to restore old chocolate recipes and kick the palm shit out of chocolate

Everyone's complaining but nothing will happen without consumer backlash

LockedOutOfMN · 19/07/2018 23:08

PhilomenaFogg Feuillitine is crispy wafer - much crispier than the one in a KitKat, and shredded into little pieces studded through the chocolate.

I can't be the only poster who fancies Wishiwasa's chocolate breasts?

Wishiwasa · 19/07/2018 23:09

@PhilomenaFogg Grin

PhilomenaFogg · 19/07/2018 23:09

SO where can you buy Ritter and also Ombar (to eat whilst yr doing yoga? -sorry but I'm hungry now all this choc talk )

Dancer12345 · 19/07/2018 23:11

I really wanted a Ripple when I read your title, then read the rest of the post Sad Gutted, I haven’t had one for years and used to love them.

I also heard on the news today that they’re reducing the sugar in a Dairy Milk bar by 30%! That’s going to taste rubbish!

fairylightseverywhere · 19/07/2018 23:12

In brief, re the palm oil questions. It is very cheap and used as a filler in many products.

Rainforests are being chopped down to make way for palm oil plantations, removing amazing biodiversity and the habitats of thousands of animals.
There are some palm oil companies that produce sustainably. They seem to be few and far between.

Avoid palm oil as much as you possibly can. It is hard though, it's in so, so many things.
