To feel sickened that this man is being referred to in this way (WARNING UPSETTING CONTENT)

This man raped a three month old baby boy to the point where the baby needed corrective surgery.

He is now in a women’s prison in Canada where he has beaten up a female inmate.

THIS is where self ID leads. Men like this being incarcerated with women and their crimes being counted as female.

Go on, Mumsnet, delete me for deliberately misgendering a male baby rapist.

THIS.IS.A.MAN.

Perhaps this story will illustrate why feminists are so up in arms about self ID.

I would love to see even the staunchest anti-women transactivist tell me that this person is a woman and that they belong in a women’s prison.

If you are giving evidence you swear to tell the truth, religious or not. That was one of the problems many people had with the trial. The judge told the victim to lie about their attacker, and penalised them for non compliance.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/07/2018 23:43

I think you have spotted the problem - I am not really engaged in online debate

So you’re not going to answer any of my requests for explanation? Cool, cool.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 19/07/2018 23:48

You can be a second wave feminist even if you were a child at the time of the movement. Fourth wave feminists are unwilling to acknowledge that previous feminists allied themselves to transexuals.

I wasn’t even born at the height of second wave feminism, however it’s what I find myself most aligned to.

And as many others here have said, I used to be more on board with accepting transwomen as women, however the sheer entitlement and the pushing of boundaries peaked me. I’m certain I’ve shared toilets with transsexuals who identify as women and have never had a problem. My peak came when Germaine Greer was no-platformed and a bloke with a beard started pushing the boundaries of womanhood. I started thinking critically and now I can’t stop

Femjacking

waterlego6064 · 20/07/2018 06:34

The idea of telling a court that you’re going to tell the truth, and then proceeding to tell a lie which everyone in the court knows is a lie....sort of makes the justice system seem a bit farcical.

And yes, all witnesses make the oath. They can choose to swear on whichever religious book applies to them, while atheists/those with no religion are given a secular oath to read.

TransplantsArePlants · 20/07/2018 06:42

This is what Stonewall says about trans people, including those with a penis, in their document The Truth About trans":

Do you need to have gender reassignment surgery (a 'sex change operation') to be trans? A lot of media coverage is obsessed with details of body parts and surgical procedures. For some trans people, having gender reassignment surgery is an important part of their transition. Getting access to that surgery is extremely difficult at the moment, and more investment is desperately needed so that trans people can get the procedures they need. But for other trans people surgery isn’t something they want. Being trans isn’t about having (or not having) particular body parts. It’s something that’s absolutely core to a trans person’s identity and doesn’t alter - whatever outward appearances might be.
And frankly, it’s no one else’s business: you wouldn’t dream of asking someone else what they’ve got going on under their clothes, so why would anyone think it’s appropriate to ask a trans person?!

So. It's nobody's business whether the person in front of you claiming to be a woman, has a penis. In fact it's prurient to even think about it

Branleuse · 20/07/2018 07:32

Science is transphobic

ToeToToe · 20/07/2018 07:49

There is just an erosion of women's natural boundaries going on. In a time when rape & sexual assault is still scandalously under-reported and under-convicted - women are being told to mind their own about whether someone in a single sex space has a penis or not. And, furthermore, that penises belong in single sex spaces because "penises can be female".

What do the NHS say in training?

EeebyMum · 20/07/2018 08:13

Rapey Trans-women with their rapey penises need to be kept away from women, not locked up in a confined space with them.

nauticant · 20/07/2018 08:17

Although I posted about understanding that a trans person with gender dysphoria can have perfectly valid reasons for not having surgery, this:

And frankly, it’s no one else’s business: you wouldn’t dream of asking someone else what they’ve got going on under their clothes

is very wrong-headed. It really depends on the context. If I see someone walking down the street then I don't need to know. But that's not what this is about. This is about people, particularly women, feeling safe in single-sex spaces.

Eresh - external diversity training to NHS staff - I think there's a video on Youtube of a training session.

Great article again from Kirkup.

He doesn't lecture. He just lays it all out very simply.

TheBiologicalWoman · 20/07/2018 12:07

I can't access full.article so if anyone could highlight any sections or cut and paste, I'd be grateful thanks.

Great article.

The foreshadowing around the GRA consultation resonates strongly. Will politicians take note?

TheBiologicalWoman · 20/07/2018 12:29

Thanks Vicky for sharing the full article.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 20/07/2018 13:06

Great article - I am so pleased he's been reading FWR again and helping us spread the word re safeguarding concerns - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery;)

Jesus. Who is the provider?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 20/07/2018 14:22

Vicky, I appreciate why you did it, but posting an entire article here is frowned on, as it is a breach of copyright. You may have your post deleted. Quoting from an article is fine, even long quotes, but pasting the whole article isn't.

Ucantarguewistupid · 20/07/2018 14:31

If it has a penis then it is male. If it has xx chromosomes it is a male. How they feel will not change this.chopping bits off and growing goodwill not change this. This is a biological man.
