Help! I have one dd. My mil has lived with us since we have been married.

She is a very strong woman and overruled me on everything. She sends me to bed if I sneeze.

When dd was 2 dh pissed off capturing butterflies in Africa and I havnt heard off him for years. Bastard. So mil got friendly with a wierd lady next door. She has big hair coils round her ears, writes books and has lots of kids.

I am concerned she is also involved in modern slavery as she has a woman living with her called Anna who does everything.

Anyway mil and this wierd Jo woman have colluded to send dd to a boarding school.

Aibu to just want to move away with dd. Start again and have some fun? Grin

Guess the book and keep going. Grin

That’s Devil's Cub

margotsdevil · 19/07/2018 17:56

Vanilla that's either the hobbit or one of the lotr?

AIBU to think that this mouse must have superpowers? I mean - a mouse that everyone is scared of? Including me...

Tanith · 19/07/2018 17:57

Oooh! That’s Lord of the Rings if ever I saw one!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 17:57

Tanith

Is yours The Winslow Boy? Or a title such as?

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 17:58

Mines not Devils Cub

Tanith · 19/07/2018 18:02

No, not the Winslow Boy, though it has been made into a film, too Smile

Is yours the Man Who Liked Dickens?

MissLingoss · 19/07/2018 18:03

Mine was Devil's Cub. I loved that book when I was in my teens.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 18:18

A Handful of Dust! Another of my A level texts. They're almost all here now. I can't quite see how to work the poetry in but all the plays and novels are here.

Tanith · 19/07/2018 18:19

I’ll post a further clue:

Many months later...

Well, I married her. She’s still beautiful but my goodness, she’s no genius! The mind of an utter child. I think I find that just as sweet, though.

No, the real problem is the MIL. Yes, she did find out we are as poor as church mice. Yes the proverbial did hit the whatnot - we won’t dwell on that painful scene.
She seems to have taken a real dislike to the kiddies, though. Always locking them up, making them keep windows open - I told her they’d catch their deaths of cold and she just laughed at me! At least, I think it was at me...

She complains they keep disappearing. Personally, I think they’re hiding from her.

We’ve just had a really distasteful scene where my niece accused her of trying to murder them! Something about the church graveyard and how our lawyer doesn’t know how sorry he’s going to be.

All nonsense of course! The mother of my angel could never stoop to anything so commonplace!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 18:22

Yes it was Handful Of Dust/Man Who Liked Dickens

Lancelottie · 19/07/2018 18:24

I’m a young widow with four children, and I don’t know what to do about my DS. My DDs are pretty well-behaved, but DS seems to do the opposite of whatever I tell him. Today I just know he went off alone to the spot where his father died. The man who lives there seems to hate us, and DS came racing back barefoot and without his coat. WIBU to make him miss supper and go straight to bed, or should I organise some counselling?

Tanith · 19/07/2018 18:25

Peter Rabbit! ❤️

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 18:26

Peter Rabbit!

Lancelottie · 19/07/2018 18:27

You're too good at this!
(Or maybe I need to read something aimed at the over-tens?)

Scheheramard · 19/07/2018 18:28

I've been having a really intense affair, but my DH has found out and, devastated, has deliberately crashed our vehicle in front of the OM. OM has left me here in a feckin cave while he goes to get help. He's been gone ages though and I'm not sure he's coming back. AIBU to think he's just not that into me? What a c(o)unt

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 18:29

The English Patient?

Scheheramard · 19/07/2018 18:30

You're too good!

5LeafClover · 19/07/2018 18:32

Tanith, the amazing Mr blunden?

Tanith · 19/07/2018 18:35

It is! Smile AKA The Ghosts

questionzzz · 19/07/2018 18:36

Instead of marrying the nice Jewish girl, daughter of my mah-jong buddies, who is a doctor but can make jello with slices of canned peaches suspended in it, (just like me, except mine are obviously better), my insanely talented yet difficult lawyer son insists on cavorting with scrawny goy models who are barely literate, and whose eyes and noses are too small.

Ahhh, and I can well remember the days when he was small enough to toddle around my legs are I was pinning up the laundry, joyfully sniffing my cunt.

LetticeFortescue · 19/07/2018 18:37

I was at work today and oldest DS looking after the others who are much younger. I've just come home and they're all cowering in my bed and there's a bear waiting at the front door. Should I ground them all for the rest of the holidays?

Wanttomakemincepies · 19/07/2018 18:39

I was always very clever in school, bit of a social climber. Am now the company for an old lady and we travel to all the social hotspots. Met a well to do man, but we just can't work it out. Maybe one day we will

Scheheramard · 19/07/2018 18:40

DIL is pregnant with DS's baby. She has one DD from a previous relationship - a totally feral child who wanders around the fields all day and talks to herself. Since DS died last year DIL has gone a bit bonkers and I don't really want anything to do with either of them TBH. That little flower child certainly can't call me grandma - even in my own language...

questionzzz · 19/07/2018 18:40

I loved the Amazing Mr Blunden!! It was the first book I remember giving me nightmares and keeping me up at night.

MissLingoss · 19/07/2018 18:40

Did anyone get the one several pages back, about the deputy head of the south London girls' school? Might have missed it when I was away trying to get some work done.
