Help! I have one dd. My mil has lived with us since we have been married.

She is a very strong woman and overruled me on everything. She sends me to bed if I sneeze.

When dd was 2 dh pissed off capturing butterflies in Africa and I havnt heard off him for years. Bastard. So mil got friendly with a wierd lady next door. She has big hair coils round her ears, writes books and has lots of kids.

I am concerned she is also involved in modern slavery as she has a woman living with her called Anna who does everything.

Anyway mil and this wierd Jo woman have colluded to send dd to a boarding school.

Aibu to just want to move away with dd. Start again and have some fun? Grin

Guess the book and keep going. Grin

I had an idyllic rural childhood with DM and many siblings although I hardly ever saw my DF. In my early teens I had a sexual experience with an older girl which, although I'm older and have travelled far and wide, I can't get out of my head. Should I report her for abuse or just write a book about it? It might be popular.

BevBrook · 19/07/2018 11:32

Cider with Rosie? We had to read that at school.

ScrambledSmegs · 19/07/2018 11:33

I own a bijou wisteria-strewn castle in Italy, which I’ve decided to market as a holiday let for an entire month this spring. Four women have rented it, I’ve met two of them and have taken a serious shine to one who is married but I don’t really care about that. She doesn’t seem to like her husband much anyway, she’s very devout and he writes racy novels, so I’ve heard. The other one I’ve met thinks she’s psychic, and the other two sound horrific, a virago and a vacuous socialite.

I’m considering ‘popping in’ at some point during their idyllic holiday to see the one I fancy a bit, and turning into a lovestruck buffoon at first sight of the socialite (which I’ll admit is a bit of a snub to the original one I fancied but her husband’s going to turn up anyway and she does actually like him after all). .

My DH suffers from PTSD from The War

To help himself recover he took a job in a remote location and I was determined to marry him even though the job would isolate me from my family

Since then we have had fertility issues and I cannot seem to carry a child to term.

I was being driven wild with grief when a baby washed ashore in a boat

DH says I absolutely cannot keep her
I say it's a miracle from God

Who is being unreasonable ?

EmilyDickinson · 19/07/2018 11:36

poorchurchmouse yes, The Winter's Tale.

EmilyDickinson · 19/07/2018 11:36

Mr Stark, The Light Between Oceans.

iismum · 19/07/2018 11:39

We spend our summers in our gorgeous Italian estate (DH, DS (17) and me). DH (who's an academic) always invites one of his young researchers to spend the summer with us. Usually they're a bit of a bore but this year the guy's pretty great (and really beautiful!). He's developed a very intense relationship (maybe sexual, I think) with DS. We're super-liberal parents so this is basically fine - but sometimes I worry whether DS is a bit young for this - there's quite an age gap!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 19/07/2018 11:40

Can't say where I am working or what I do -
but have been sharing digs with someone rather fun. Only now she's heaven knows where and her exceedingly intense ex boyfriend has been bothering me trying to establish her whereabouts.
I don't want to hurt his feelings but she's never lacking for male company. Here we all are, in our community, doing our bit - all classes, quite a few chaps from overseas - I mean, there is a war on! I just hope there's nothing sinister going on.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 11:41

Call me by your name?

iismum · 19/07/2018 11:42

MrStark - yes ... that one was a bit obvious. No takers on the Jacobite one?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 11:43

Enigma, Donkeys?

MissLingoss · 19/07/2018 11:44

Yes, Crocodile on the Sandbank.

Should have got Winter's Tale, had to do it for A Level!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 11:45

I thought it sounded like Outlander but it can't be so I'm confused

iismum · 19/07/2018 11:50

Not Outlander! It is a bit obscure I guess - I think it was made into a TV serial, but years ago.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 11:50

Recently, at a ball for people of Society I stole a man away who my sister in laws younger sister had her eye on.

Since then, her parents feel massively slighted and she's practically had a breakdown and gone to Europe to have some restorative baths

AIBU to think that they are all having hysterics about nothing?

I ONLY DANCED WITH HIM

(well as yet..)

iismum · 19/07/2018 11:51

The relationship between the English soldier and the Jacobite is the heart of the book - I think it would be quite obvious if you've read the book.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 11:52

AIBU to kill my nephew so he won't try to get his rightful inheritance back from me? I'm going to wait till dark, then send him to the top of the tower without a light and hope he falls off the unfinished stairs. If that fails, I've got a back up arrangement with a sea captain for him to be taken off to the Carolinas as a slave. What could possibly go wrong?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 19/07/2018 11:53

Indeed, Gasp0de.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/07/2018 11:54

Though I don't know it, a bell is ringing massively like I feel like I should - the Jacobite one and the staircase one

iismum · 19/07/2018 11:54

Gasp - Kidnapped?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 11:55

I'm thinking of retiring and handing over to one of my three daughters. I've decided the best plan is to give the largest share to the one that loves me most, and I'll know which that is by asking them all to declare their love for me at a public gathering. Great plan, eh?

MissLingoss · 19/07/2018 11:55

Gasp0de, Kidnapped?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2018 11:55

Well done, Kidnapped it is!
