To keep leftover takeaway food from the indians?

Our local regular takeaway is doing a great deal with a large amount of food for £20 - but its way more than we will be able to eat so will be left with extra lamb and chicken curry, chicken pakora, rice and nan. I think we should order something else rather than having to much but dp is adamant we should get this deal and can use the leftover for the next few days? Aibu to ask is this safe or is it totally gross BlushHmm

Rice shouldn't be kept or reheated- nothing wrong with doing that with the rest provided you keep it refrigerated and eat the rest the following day

fuzzywuzzy · 17/07/2018 16:04

I don’t mind eating leftovers the day after but not longer than that.

easyandy101 · 17/07/2018 16:04

Fry it all in the same pan in the morning for breakfast

We always keep leftovers. I love leftover curry!

Budgiegirlbob · 17/07/2018 16:05

It’s not gross! Reheated Indian food is lovely! Except the rice, I’d throw that away if you don’t eat it straight away - it can be dangerous to reheat rice

Hoppinggreen · 17/07/2018 16:06

Not the rice

wellBeehivedWoman · 17/07/2018 16:07

Totally fine except for the rice, which should never be reheated!

TrolltheRespawnJeremy seems to be having a bad day Grin

allthgoodusernamesaretaken · 17/07/2018 16:07

You can reheat rice if it's refrigerated quickly, kept for no more than one day and then reheated to piping hot

SaucyJack · 17/07/2018 16:07

It's perfectly safe, but probably better just to order what nice bits you actually want to eat in the first place- rather than be stuck with eating stale naan and rice for the next two days dinner.

PitterPatterOfBigFeet · 17/07/2018 16:08

Rice actually can be reheated - you need to put it in the fridge to cool quickly rather than leaving it at room temperature for any length of time (NHS).

Left over curry is even yummier than the first time round I love it!

BlueTears · 17/07/2018 16:08

Most restaurants expect to be asked for 'doggy bags' and are prepared for it.

More people should do it!

Would just be wary about reheating any seafood or chicken that's all.

SaucyJack · 17/07/2018 16:08

Fucking Hell Jeremy.

That's an impressive overreaction- even by AIBU standards.

lastnamefirstfirstnamelast · 17/07/2018 16:08

erm just eat the left overs the day...but not the rice

BonanzaGoing · 17/07/2018 16:09

Left over curry is amazing. I prefer re-heated curry to "fresh"curry

Rice is fine to reheat as long as it's cooled and reheated thoroughly.

InspectorIkmen · 17/07/2018 16:09

I kind of agree with Jeremy. Does nobody know anything about day to day living any more?

Also OP - I think you mean Indian Restaurant not the indians Hmm

Sleepyslops · 17/07/2018 16:09

I would defo keep the leftovers from the Indians... and the English too.

BlueTears · 17/07/2018 16:09

Just realised this a take away 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😂
Wack it in the fridge, sorted.

BlackWatchBelle · 17/07/2018 16:10

Well, I have been reheating left overs (including rice!!) for a very long time and never suffered ill affects. I have even (gasp!!) re-heated 2 days later!! If you are worried about the rice just bin that

princesspeppax · 17/07/2018 16:10

Thankyou we dont order takeaway all that often and never usually have any leftovers. I did try google before posting here but very mixed reviews and not really sure whats what.

@TrollTheRespawnJeremy

If you have nothing nice to say apart from insults how about you politely fuck off from my thread instead of being nasty when i was asking a genuine question Hmm

I agree

But Jeremy's "Fuck off OP" did make me laugh out loud for just how completely unnecessary it was Grin

spugzbunny · 17/07/2018 16:11

That title had me super confused!

Left over Indian takeaway is even better than on the day in my opinion!

VickyEadie · 17/07/2018 16:11

We usually order more than we need and freeze the rest as soon as it's cold. Been doing it for decades and no ill effects, ever. We just reheat everything until it's piping hot.

I know the accepted wisdom is not to reheat rice; however, (a) I've been doing that for decades and no ill effects and (b) you can bet that leftover rice in hot countries gets used up the next day (and some of those people won't have a fridge, either).

alleypalley · 17/07/2018 16:12

I also agree with Jeremy.

^ and also that

princesspeppax · 17/07/2018 16:13

sorry for any offence caused definitely did not mean it racist if thats what has came across

Did not realise i was not allowed to ask a question without being insulted so thankyou to people have answered my question as I was genuinely unsure.
