To wonder just why Meghan seems so unpopular?

Just that really. I obviously don’t buy the magazines that must print all the insider gossip. From what I’ve seen of her I’ve liked, and felt some sympathy for her. Am I wrong?

The Cambridge kids? They're cute but hardly out of the ordinary! I can think of several kids in DD's nursery alone who are better looking Grin

janeyejones it sounds like you don’t know too much about dysfunctional families (and I don’t mean that rudely). It just doesn’t work like that for everyone.

snooty your weird apart from the fact at least one of your she breaks protocol points has been proven wrong on this thread. I even saw Charles and Diana do PDAs in fact they were the first to do the balcony kiss ive seen William and Catherine kiss ect in public . As for playing with hat ive not seen her do it and if she does i suspect its nerves.

If your serious calling some one you dont know a pain is massively WEIRD
And if your so hot on protocol its CATHERINE not Kate

Princess Di was slagged off by the gutter press at every opportunity, as was Kate, and now Meghan.

It sells papers I guess.

Kate just looks amazing at the moment. So happy, so relaxed and so much at peace with herself. I love the way she throws back her head and laughs. I think she's such a beautiful, classy woman.

Why aren't people allowed to comment on someone who is bi racial?

It's more the dog whistle racism comments - she's "not an English rose", she's "unsuitable" etc. And the fuss about her being an actress was ridiculous - it's the 21st century, not the 19th. Acting is hardly a scandalous profession these days!

@SalemBlackCat Fergie got loads of awful headlines from the British press simply because she wasn't a virgin when she married, she has ginger hair and wasn't slim*, all unlike St Diana. The only thing Fergie had going for her was her family weren't crazy.

The press just turns on any woman who marries into the Royal firm especially if they actually have had a life before hand.

*She was called the Duchess of Pork

@FirstOfHerName at least being an actress when she is uncomfortable meeting a dictator or whatever as part of her Royal duties she should be able to successfully fake it, like politicians who were actors. I see it as a plus point especially when there have been Royal engagements when Kate Middleton has clearly look uncomfortable.

For all Harry says publicly about humanitarian issues and their compassion for vulnerable people I just can't understand why he hasn't encouraged a visit.

Ever stopped to consider that he may know something we don't? We don't know the full story but if he does then perhaps he is acting accordingly.

Yes because god forbid we ever consider her as anything other than a wife and mother to Important Men Hmm

Kate is good at her job and she does a huge amount of charity work and she performs a useful diplomatic function very well. Meghan is exactly the same. The only difference between them is that Meghan is American and mixed race - but that's enough to ensure some people will never accept her place in the royal family.

What does the wife or mother of a king look like anyway? Is Kate starting to look like Queen Mary or the Queen Mum? That's hardly a flattering comparison at her age!

The right wing press don't like her because of a mix of racism and the fact she has campaigned for women's rights and has a voice and an opinion.
I'm not a fan of the monarchy and I'm not really that interested in her but from what I've seen she seems like a good person who has used her privilege to try make a difference even before joining the royal family.

it's very very obvious from people's comments that this is why.
Kate was scrutinised too at first but not this badly.
Funny how people are claiming never to have heard anything bad about her.

I like Meghan too and I don't understand the flak she gets. The only magazine I buy is Woman which recently claimed that she's being ousted by Kate, Beatrice, Eugenie, Pippa and Zara ....... but ..... well that's rumour - never trust celebrity gossip as it's usually a load of glorified turd.
I do read people slagging her off a lot on social media forums though and most of the objections seem to be purely because she's American and been divorced before.
Personally, I've not liked Kate ever since she went deer stalking at Balmoral (I'd loved her until then) and I prefer Meghan's anti-hunt views ......... but that's a whole different argument for a different day, so time for me to shut up and go :)

Presumably that will be because he knows why his wife hasn’t seen her father for a number of years, no?

It’s not like she met Harry and ended her three monthly visits. She hasn’t seen him since long before she met harry.

Imagine some of the women who are very LC or NC with relatives if they posted “getting married soon and even though I’ve not seen my dad for X years DH is encouraging me constantly to visit him” She’d quite rightly be told to tell him to wind his neck in!

I think she can. By staying the course.

And because the public are quite sentimental about Prince Harry (still seeing the little boy walking in front of the eyes of the world behind his mother's coffin), by seeing him happy. And, as he has spoken about how much he wants children, that might be a factor in seeing him happy.
