Im a customer.

Girl has come in with hair down to her bum.

Requested it's cut to the collar bone.

Stylist tied it in little pony fails and cut removed the bands and it's up her neck the girl hasn't seen it properly yet and it looks slightly longer in the front. They have taken her over to wash her hair.

Omg omg omg shes going to go mad! She's just returned from basin whilst I'm typing! That is not collorbone length they have fucking bobbed her!!

Balayage is a more subtle way of highlighting hair...when it's done right (which it all too often isn't!).

Pipeup · 17/07/2018 13:44

No my earwigging is on point. I know what I heard

It's irrelevant if the new style looks nice on the woman. She asked for a cut to her collar bone, one length, and she didn't get that.

At the very least, it should be no more than half the original cost.

Orchidflower1 · 17/07/2018 13:44

Surely the drying has finished! Has she paid op? Poor girl.

PenguinBollard · 17/07/2018 13:45

Please support her if you can, I know that at 18 and even now I wouldn't have had the balls to speak up about it, but maybe with the support of someone else she will at least be able to refuse to pay.

flamingofridays · 17/07/2018 13:45

yes because your bum isn’t on your collarbone! of course it takes years to get that long. This is her collarbone, if her hair is fast growing, we’re talking a few months

Grin no I know that but what I mean is it would take me more tham a few months to get to collar length from a bob that short!

AlleyG · 17/07/2018 13:45

If her hair was down to her bum, chances are her hair grows fast. She wanted it collar bone length and it’s at her neck? That’s a couple months growth. It’ll be collarbone length in no time

Irrelevant, it's not what she asked for.

You are far too invested in this girl's haircut, you've just told her she looks pretty. You can't now say jk about your hair looking nice and suiting you, I've been listening to exactly what you wanted done and this actually looks crap so don't pay the stylist.
OP can still say (and believe) it looks nice. Doesn't change the fact it's not what she asked for.

ShotsFired · 17/07/2018 13:46

@Pipeup Okay hair dryer is on now I can't say anything but I will when it's off I'm just practicing my lines in my head.

I have horrible visions of something like this happening after all your practice!

Shits about to go down in the salon.
DownAndUnder · 17/07/2018 13:46

I have very long hair and had it cut to my shoulders when I asked for a trim, haven’t been since and that was 5 years ago. I also had half my forehead dyed red the day before my prom and went home and cried, I’d been dying it that colour myself for ages and never did that and I was 15! In both cases the hairdresser was too busy chatting and not paying attention Angry

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 13:46

The funny is OPs certainty that the woman hates her hair (all gleaned from a red face) and everyone jumping in saying “save her, be her hero, take her for tea” 😂😂😂

LauraMipsum · 17/07/2018 13:46

Cheers sheep Booms and Andro, I've expanded my hair vocab today!

gallicgirl · 17/07/2018 13:46

Oh god, complaining to hairdressers is nerve wracking the first time you do it. You do learn to be very specific with your questions as a result though.

palomapear · 17/07/2018 13:46

Is what she has left a good cut? Does it suit her?
I know it's not what she wanted but I'm hoping she looks ok.
Poor thing. What a nightmare!

Groovee · 17/07/2018 13:47

Eek! Hoping she likes it

MorrisDancingViv · 17/07/2018 13:47

What salon is this? I need to visit.

I had to go to 3 salons before I could find a stylist willing to cut my waist length hair into a jaw length Bob. The first one kept trying to persuade me to cut it to my shoulders and the second just outrightly refused. The third did cut it - but not very well.

3GreenBottles · 17/07/2018 13:47

Oh, shit! This is bringing back painful memories of that fateful day I went to get my waist length hair cut in to a long, graduated bob and came out looking like Pat Sharpe circa 1988.

Poor girl.

thetemptationofchocolate · 17/07/2018 13:47

I wanted a trim once and asked for 2 inches off the length. I was trying to grow it long but it was looking ragged and I wanted it tidied up. He began cutting at the back, and when I looked at what he was doing he'd cut 6 inches off! He refused to accept that he'd cut too much so I said, measure it then. When the ruler confirmed he'd taken off 3 times as much as I wanted he had to agree he'd fucked up. He then had to cut the rest off to match (only he missed quite a few bits).
I didn't pay for that cut and although I'd been brave (for me) and complained about it I still went home and cried.

PugwallsSummer · 17/07/2018 13:47

The "oh shit. What have you done" look is unmistakable when seen in the hairdressers.

Poor girl. Hope she likes the end result.

theDudesmummy · 17/07/2018 13:47

When I was about 17 I had a perm (it was the eighties) and it came out way way too curly, I looked ridiculous (even for the eighties). I smiled meekly said thanks, went home and wailed, and my mother went to the hairdressers and gave them what for!

bellinisurge · 17/07/2018 13:49

A colleague's daughter experienced this. She was too scared to do anything. My colleague wasn't. Colleague ripped them a new one.

maddening · 17/07/2018 13:49

Tell her to make sue she keeps the hair cut off as she could sell it or donate to cancer charities that make wigs - the salon would prob sell it and charge her for their fuck up

3GreenBottles · 17/07/2018 13:49

I actually paid and thanked the Pat Sharpe stylist, too.

Being British is so hard Grin

Buxtonstill · 17/07/2018 13:50

Stop being vicarious. It really is none of your business. if I were the young girl and you spoke up on my behalf, I would be terribly embarrassed. Not only does she have a haircut she apparently doesn't like but some stranger is acting like her mother.

BlitheringIdiots · 17/07/2018 13:50

They can't still be drying it she's got hardly any hair to dry!

NoFucksImAQueen · 17/07/2018 13:51

I hope you're going to say something to her op. I know you were being nice with the it really suits you comment but you may have made her feel worse and find it harder to speak out. if you can let her know you back her it might really help. poor girl
