Im a customer.

Girl has come in with hair down to her bum.

Requested it's cut to the collar bone.

Stylist tied it in little pony fails and cut removed the bands and it's up her neck the girl hasn't seen it properly yet and it looks slightly longer in the front. They have taken her over to wash her hair.

Omg omg omg shes going to go mad! She's just returned from basin whilst I'm typing! That is not collorbone length they have fucking bobbed her!!

No my earwigging is on point. I know what I heard

Is it just me who is imagining OP saying this to the police? (I may be getting over-invested in the thread)

3GreenBottles · 17/07/2018 13:51

They better not start trying to upwell some extortionate wanky hair products to this poor girl. I know what those upmarket salons are like. She'll probably pay and thank them for the cut and leave with some £50 hair gel.

Lonecatwithkitten · 17/07/2018 13:51

I asked to have my bum length hair cut to shoulder length and my stylist refused to cut it all off in one go. He cut to just below the shoulder and then I went back 6 weeks later he went shorter. His reasoning was it was too bigger amount for one go.

IggyAce · 17/07/2018 13:51

Poor girl, I hope she says something.

Travis1 · 17/07/2018 13:52

Oh fuck! The poor woman!! Don't let her pay for it Jesus!

SirVixofVixHall · 17/07/2018 13:52

Hair grows about half and inch a month, so depending on the length of your neck it could take almost a year to get to collarbone length.

colbyandmontysmum · 17/07/2018 13:52

Depends on her hair. Mine would do that in a few months.

If her hair has been cut in a graduated style, then growing her hair to be one length would take a lot longer than a few months as the top is so much shorter

CoperCabana · 17/07/2018 13:53

Shameless placemark

bigKiteFlying · 17/07/2018 13:54

If she's like me she'll thank them heartily and then go home and cry (like I did with a bad haircut once).

I've done this so often Sad.

They always cut more off and halfway through say - oh it's got real bounce - yes it curly hair lose the weight it coils up. You'd think they'd be cautious. They never do what I ask and then iron it straight or puff it up so it three times it's normal size.

I loath getting my hair cut.

Duskqueen · 17/07/2018 13:54

Omg poor thing. Please stand up for her and don't let her pay. That is not what she asked for.

Cantaana · 17/07/2018 13:54

Poor girl. I go to the same hairdresser now even though objectively it is an extortionate price to pay because she ALWAYS cuts it just right. ANd if I want something that won't work with my hair she tells me. Too many experiences like this poor girl - memorably my failed attempt at Reece Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama

HELP HER!

ExplodingCarrots · 17/07/2018 13:54

Please speak up for this girl if she's struggling to complain. I'm one of these people who is petrified of confrontation and it would be a god send to me for someone to speak up for me. I feel so sorry for her .

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 13:54

Oh fgs. Fine, it’s an absolute distaster and will never grow back, FACT! they might as well just shave it off and OP can give her a huge hug and tell her she looks great hun. 😂

RoboticSealpup · 17/07/2018 13:54

A hairdresser once told me that it's "difficult" to cut hair all one length...

I guess that's why they're so insistent on doing layers on everyone. They're not skilled enough to cut a straight line all the way around...

Dangerousminds · 17/07/2018 13:54

This is why I hate going to the hairdresser!

Storm4star · 17/07/2018 13:55

Note to self: Do not go on MN when you have work to do because you will find a thread that you have to keep checking for updates! Grin

Ariclock · 17/07/2018 13:55

The hairdressers is mucking about with the dryer because they know they've made a mistake. Oh I really hope that she says something.

Lightbulbdrain · 17/07/2018 13:55

You cant start telling her she doesn't have to pay if she doesn't like it without her saying she doesn't like it, she will think it's awful and be devastated!

LuMarie · 17/07/2018 13:56

A salon once called the police on me because I wasn't happy with my hair and refused to pay.

Lol and freaking good for you!

Seriously, we all know it's only hair, but it's our hair!!! I'd say arrest me you bastards.

witchofzog · 17/07/2018 13:56

By saying it looks really nice you are appearing to side with the hairdresser. I would say that it looks lovely but isn't it a lot different to what she originally asked for? Try to open the dialogue that way op

OftenHangry · 17/07/2018 13:56

For all of you saying, it's fine if it will look ok in the end.
It's not.
When you go to a reastaurant and order filet steak and get pork chop instead, no matter how good looking one, and still be charged for filet, you would complaint. And complaint a lot. So why wouldn't it be ok to complaint about something what will stay with her for months and months.
She said how she wanted it done. Stylist fucked up. She is AT LEAST owed a massive discount.

GabriellaMontez · 17/07/2018 13:56

Been there. I feel her pain. I was 18. I paid then cried all the way home.

billybagpuss · 17/07/2018 13:57

Only problem with OP helping the girl and standing up to the salon is she is still in there with and unfinished treatment and die on her head and if they take exception to her interference she could end up looking like the Cookie Monster.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 17/07/2018 13:58

I’m guessing Op is giving her witness statement to the police now.

Myotherusernameisbest · 17/07/2018 13:58

I still wouldn't tell the hairdresser I hated it I don't think and I'm way way older than 20! You have to back her up OP. Step in there and help this girl.
