Once again, our hopes for some type of watershed moment are dashed. He's managed to turn our 'Ah HA!' moment into another 'Oh fuck no!' moment.

Look, supposing he had said "I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be Russia"? That wouldn't get him off. It's so damning in its faintness that there's almost no difference which version he trundled out.
His message after the fact isn't, "I meant XB, not XA,"
it's "You got me wrong, nothing to see here, move along."
And that's not true.
This is still a gotcha. We just have to not let him use the "misspoke" crap as a pivot out of the whole presser. We need to keep hold of the fact that Trump was wavery and uncertain about whether he believed his own IC or the foreign adversary. That he repeated Putin's points for him. That he did not respond when reporters asked him if he would condemn Mr Putin.
