i've been feeling very happy since loosing weight and with the hot weather i bought myself some new summer clothes. i found a nice pair of shorts and really liked them until.. dp took a photo of me from the back. the back of my legs are absolutely covered in cellulite, it looks so bad Sad

i'm so embarrassed i've been going round in short shorts oblivious. is there anything i can do to improve the appearance or do i just never get my legs out in public again?

Sad

Like others have said, wear the shorts.

I don't like getting my legs out. I have lots of thread veins and they're so pale they're practically blue. And I don't do orange fake tan. But it's too god damn hot right now to wear anything else!

MiniTheMinx · 16/07/2018 07:35

Wear them, why worry. You've done well to lose weight. I've always taken the view "don't like what you're looking at, don't look then"

Cellulite I think can be reduced. Improve circulation with massage, reduce toxins such as caffeine, cut down on fats, improve muscle tone, fake tan, or tan, buff skin, moisturise. I have a bit now, but if I do take issue with it I can and have improved it. I can't though get rid of the Bien's in my left leg caused by pregnancy and sitting cross-legged. It looks bruised, but hey my legs are slim, I'm a nice shape and I don't give a shit what others think. I'm not doing bad for 45.

Eesha · 16/07/2018 07:37

I would have been conscious in the past but I’ve seen bigger people in shorts who look great so I now wouldn’t be bothered. I think it’s more about your overall look than one part like cellulite. If you have nice shorts, a nice top, made a small effort with everything else, it looks great!

MiniTheMinx · 16/07/2018 07:37

Veins stoopid phone

imstartingtogetfitnow · 16/07/2018 07:45

Wear the shorts. I have cellulite on the front of my legs too and saggy elephant knees. Too hot to do anything different. Smile

kaytee87 · 16/07/2018 07:48

No one will care. I don't have any cellulite on my legs but I do have 2 large surgery scars and a limp. I doubt people notice.

MustBeThursday · 16/07/2018 07:49

Wear the shorts! If I even registered anything other than the fact that you were wearing shorts all I'd probably think would be along the lines of wishing I'd let myself wear them. On a similar note I'd never go out with my legs out without shaving them, but can't remember the last time I looked at anyone else's legs long or close enough to notice if they were shaved or not.

I hardly ever wear things above the knee without leggings as I feel self conscious of my potato knees and millions of broken veins but when I did go out in mid thigh shorts I don't think a single person so much as glanced at my legs. Certainly no open mouthed horrified stares. We feel like these things come with neon signs and sirens but really they're not nearly as attention grabbing as we think.

The only thing that might draw my attention might be if they were super tight and/or short enough to show bum cheek. Or if it was the depths of winter.

GreenMeerkat · 16/07/2018 07:55

I feel you OP. My legs are AWFUL. I have a small waist, flat(ish) stomach (when not pregnant). From the hips up I am about a size 8 then I BALLOON! I have a huge bum (which I don't mind), but my legs are huge. I exercise and my legs are probably my strongest part of my body but no matter what I do I can't tone them fully or get rid of the cellulite. Also have varicose veins. They are just horrible so shorts have never been an option for me 😩

Iamtryingtobenicehere · 16/07/2018 08:06

Wear your shorts! And wear them with pride.

You don’t have to conform to beauty magazines standards, you’re a real person not a photoshopped image of perfection as dictated by some beauty mogul whos probably a man anyway.

LuckyAmy1986 · 16/07/2018 08:08

I agree with what a PP said earlier, I love seeing women wearing short shorts when they have cellulite, stretch marks etc. I don’t think anything negative I really admire it and it makes me feel so much more confident to be able to wear things like that too because I have the same. That being said, even if I do notice I have forgotten about it in 5 seconds, people are too wrapped up in themselves to focus on it.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 16/07/2018 08:08

Wear them. Who’s image are you comparing yourself with? Real women have real bodies. Well done on the weight loss!

Flamingo84 · 16/07/2018 08:08

Wear the shorts!
One picture does not accurately reflect how you look in them. I’m a size 8 UK and have had numerous photos taken where my legs look lumpy and bumpy! (One particularly awful one taken at a party where I had crossed legs and my thigh looked triple it’s size with a bit of cellulite on top!)

Every single woman has cellulite, stretch marks, wobbly bits or wrinkly bits that they despise and fixated on. But other people passing by wouldn’t even notice them (probably because they’re stressing about whether you can see their wobbly bits!).

There was an article from one of those super fit personal trainer type women - the ones who take pics in sports bras and skin tight shorts. She was saying that she has to time her pictures really well (first thing in the morning before eating, getting the right lighting and turning her body at an angle etc). She posted a prepped ‘insta-worthy’ pic and an hour later her normal picture taken after eating and straight on. She looked beautiful still, but like a normal woman on the street rather than some perfect model.

Congratulations on losing weight and feeling confident to wear new things, please don’t lose that.

Loveatthefiveanddime · 16/07/2018 08:10

But shorts are horrible everyone! It is no loss not to wear shorts, everyone who wears them looks like a boy scout.

Iloveantiques · 16/07/2018 08:24

Short fat person here with varicose veins. Still wearing shorts at the local lido yesterday.

Most of the year I do cover my legs up but come the hot summer days then I just think fuck it. Nothing is as comfortable when it is so hot.

HeyDolly · 16/07/2018 08:26

Have never found a cream that has made any difference to cellulite. Spinning a few times a week was the only thing that helped dramatically reduce it for me.

AmayaBuzzbee · 16/07/2018 08:27

Dry brushing a few minutes before every shower/bath really helps!

ElspethFlashman · 16/07/2018 08:30

Remember in the 1990s when we were obsessed with cellulite?

I honestly haven't thought about mine in years. But back then I was horror struck at the idea people would see it. Two kids and two stone later, my cellulite hasn't gotten any worse, but plenty of other things have!

And I honestly can't remember the last time I noticed it on anyone. It's just not on people's radar anymore, imo.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 16/07/2018 08:36

@loveatthefiveanddime. I don’t know what Boy Scouts you’ve been looking at.... 😬😂

@fatted you know most fake tan isn’t orange right? Skinny Tan is amazing 👌

ResistanceIsNecessary · 16/07/2018 08:39

Cellulite is normal. Most women have it. I saw two young women yesterday who can't have been more than early 20s and they both had it.

If you want to wear shorts, then wear them. Focus less on what other people might think and more about what makes you happy.

diddl · 16/07/2018 08:47

Why on earth did he do that?

Wear the shorts.

I have horrible veins at the back of my legs.

And I can't see them-so I don't care!

mayandjuniper · 16/07/2018 08:51

I've just got back from holiday and apparently 90% of women have the same issue, even the super skinny ones. It's a normal part of your body, it's totally ok to have and show off.

Balaboosteh · 16/07/2018 09:00

Remember that photographs can be very misleading. Catch the light wrong etc. Wear the shorts!

BatShitBuns · 16/07/2018 09:13

TBH I'm more likely to notice a woman wearing jeans in this heat (28c today in London) and think "she must be boiling", than a woman with cellulite wearing shorts.

TheNavigator · 16/07/2018 09:16

Cellulite is more attractive than fake tan in my opinion Grin

RoboticSealpup · 16/07/2018 09:21

I'm a size 8. I was wearing something short the other day and when I got in the lift at work I realised the light in there made it look like I had loads of cellulite. I have a bit, like everyone, but some lights make it more obvious. Maybe the photo was just a really unflattering one!

I've also had varicose veins since my teens and I hardly tan at all. We've all got our insecurites but really we're all just normal.
