i've been feeling very happy since loosing weight and with the hot weather i bought myself some new summer clothes. i found a nice pair of shorts and really liked them until.. dp took a photo of me from the back. the back of my legs are absolutely covered in cellulite, it looks so bad Sad

i'm so embarrassed i've been going round in short shorts oblivious. is there anything i can do to improve the appearance or do i just never get my legs out in public again?

Sad

At 59 I wear long shorts or crops when going out in hot weather with a bit of fake tan. In the garden and around the house I wear shorts. If the neighbours are looking they can suck it up.

We rarely get the sort of summer we are having now, make the most of it. It could be decades before it happens again. I once heard a woman older than me comment that she would definitely wear a bikini on holiday. Her rationale was that "if those big fat German women can wear a bikini, then I can too!"

On a recent trip to Crete people of all ages wore shorts, men and women. When it is hot no one bats an eyelid, but you would look daft in November.

TokenBritPoshOfCourse · 15/07/2018 23:58

Cellulite was invented in the 90s by fashion magazines. It’s bullshit. Everybody has it and it’s totally normal and unavoidable.

Wear your shorts with pride.

Moussemoose · 16/07/2018 00:01

people sniggering behind my back

In the nicest possible way - no one is that interested in you, and if they are the kind of person to be that unkind do you care what they think?

redshoeblueshoe · 16/07/2018 00:05

I agree with everyone else. Its bloody hot for the UK so wear whatever you feel comfortable in
unless you are going to a funeral
but that's a whole different thread Grin

Jonbb · 16/07/2018 00:11

I have a nasty healed hole in my leg from a riding accident and psoriasis scars. We're normal and unphotoshopped! Own it!

TiredPony · 16/07/2018 00:19

The thing that inspired me to wear my short shorts today was looking around at everyone going about their daily business the past few weeks - there are a lot of people wearing shorts with no fucks. Be one of them.

Bridezilla2be · 16/07/2018 00:32

I have loads of visible veins, red scars and cellulite but I figure most of the time I’m in public I’m walking about so they’ll be nicely blurred Grin

Wear the shorts!

BlankTimes · 16/07/2018 00:45

Google for Kardashian Beach Photos Cellulite, then you will not feel so bad about yours Grin

FatSally · 16/07/2018 00:58

Coffee scrub! Best thing for cellulite...although a pp is right, no one else will notice or care!

KinkyAfro · 16/07/2018 05:02

Did your DP photograph you from the back for a reason? Prior to my weight loss, my then DP took a photo of me from behind to show me how bad the stretch marks behind my knees were. He told me they were ugly and how I shouldn't wear anything that doesn't cover them up. Took me a long time to wear shorts again, but I did after I'd lost weight and dumped him. Plus the marks are now faded to silver and can barely ve seen

NeverTooOldForAnything · 16/07/2018 05:27

Cellulite always looks far worse in pictures IME!

I notice cellulite on other women, but I like it because it makes me feel more normal for having some too.

Wear the shorts OP! I do!

LuMarie · 16/07/2018 05:38

Everyone has cellulite and no one else notices!

Spray tan on your legs does a good job if you want to have glorious legs, smooths out skin appearance, makes legs look long, healthy and gorgeous.

Which they already are, but if you want a beauty trick for legs, spray tan!

Wear the shorts! Even when I'm model skinny I have cellulite, no one cares. F it, it's hot, no one else notices and I am sure you look lovely.

StewPots · 16/07/2018 06:28

Sod it OP keep wearing them! I e lost a bit of weight recently and have lived in my shorts. I have a bit of cellulite but the worst part of my legs is those spidery veins! I have them everywhere round my knees and calves, but I'm past caring this year. It's too bloody hot Grin

Monty27 · 16/07/2018 06:36

Wear the shorts. I am a woman of a certain age and I am wearing best tops for the first time in years.
You are who you are. Love yourself don't be judged. Flowers

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 16/07/2018 06:39

Try fake tan , body brushing and cycling or swimming to tone up the legs

As you have lost weight
It’s worth keeping fit

I also have a prominent varicose vein . I know what you mean

But wear anyway

strawberrisc · 16/07/2018 06:41

Even Kate Moss has cellulite!

Monty27 · 16/07/2018 06:44

Don't do fake tan. Just love yourself.
Smile

Bezm · 16/07/2018 06:47

I realised in Spring that, by mistake I'd gone up a dress size since last summer and lots of my summer wardrobe didn't fit well. I pondered the wearing of shorts on a 58yr old size 16 woman and then thought fuck it! I want to be comfortable. I want to have lovely tanned legs. So I popped down to M&S and purchased a couple of pairs of their finest shorts. I feel great in them. I wear nice strappy tops with them. I have tanned legs!
I don't care what other people think when they see me in shorts. I'm not indecent, I'm not making babies cry, I'm not shocking anyone! I'm just a slightly overweight 58 yr old woman minding my own business.

Aus84 · 16/07/2018 06:54

Cellulite is sooo normal. I don't even notice it on women and about 80% if women around here wear short shorts in summer.

TheNoodlesIncident · 16/07/2018 07:22

Even when I was a 6-8 and underweight I still had cellulite.

Mine matters to me but other people's doesn't. We all have our hang ups.

Wear what you like and well done on your weight loss, it's never easy

thelonggame · 16/07/2018 07:26

please wear the shorts.
I would think the reason you never notice cellulite on other women is just that its never as obvious as you think it is.
Even super skinny top models can have it, it's part of being a woman.
Most people are too busy worrying about how they look to notice how anyone else really looks.

imbluedabberdedabberdi · 16/07/2018 07:27

Everyone has cellulite!!!! Slim or curvy! I'm a size 8 and have cellulite! Have alwaysssssss covered my legs, not wearing shorts or skirts in the summer but this year I thought fuck it I am who I am! I took the plunge and I'm wearing short shorts :) am I love it! I feel empowered and happy :) and nice and cool ;) get your pins out OP! Love your self xxxx

imbluedabberdedabberdi · 16/07/2018 07:29

Confidence and a happy smile is 100000000x more sexier and attractive than a 10/10 body!

notafeeling · 16/07/2018 07:33

I bet you look great. Wear the shorts! I'm 33 and a UK 10 and have it all over my thighs.

On Friday, I played at a festival with a band and had them out and proud. Cellulite is a part of life and everyone has it, even supermodels!

dudsville · 16/07/2018 07:34

I want to suggest you wear your sorts with pride. Seriously, no respectable adult would snigger behind your back. However, personally I don't wear shorts because my knees look like they got flattened in some awful attack and left to grow back as best they could. I have the pug equivalent of knees, cow patties could have been designed after my knees.... and because of this I don't wear shorts. So my suggestion is a little hippocritical.
