To think this cannot be legal...

DS1 13 months would not go to sleep tonight so DP took him in the pushchair for a walk. He came across an absolutely massive snake in the park. Someone had let him out of a large tank apparently (not in the pic). Lots of bystanders taking pics. I know people can have these in their homes, but in public??? Cannot be legal right?

I'm a regular but name changed as I knew people would ask where this was and obviously telling the location could be outing. This is in Roberts Park, Saltaire, West Yorkshire.

This is for real.

WTF?!!!!

I'm laughing at a snake going for a walk, wouldn't it go for a slither? Lol

FrangipaniBlue · 15/07/2018 22:56

Yes @FASH84 usually DH out of the kitchen!!

They do run a lot faster than people think, if I knew how to do it I'd post a video !

Melanippe · 15/07/2018 22:57

The snake is beautiful, but I don't think I'd take one of mine out in the park. They move like greased weasels when the mood takes them.

princesstiasmum · 15/07/2018 22:57

HerRoyalNotness Yes.people really did do that

sirmione16 · 15/07/2018 22:59

Can we just appreciate the fact that the owner in no physically possible way took his SNAKE for a WALK ..... HmmGrin

SoupDragon · 15/07/2018 23:00

Bet there’s a Jack Russell in that park more aggressive than the snake!

Possibly inside the python.

Accidentally coming across a snake is my worst nightmare. I would freak if I saw this.

A colleague once told me that there was a guy who regularly walked around Brixton market with his pet snake. I've avoided Brixton ever since.

KarlDilkington · 15/07/2018 23:12

I have a client (I'm a vet) who lets their snakes out in the front garden and finds it hilarious when they slither onto the garden wall and terrify people walking past. I laugh along politely whilst thinking "thank fuck you're not my neighbour!"

TiredPony · 15/07/2018 23:18

But - how did he get it to the park and back? I buckle my dogs up with seat belts but not sure how you would do that to a python Confused

IKillEveryBloodyThreadIPostOn · 15/07/2018 23:19

That's not a snake, it's a basilisk! Hope it's owner knows Parseltongue.

userxx · 15/07/2018 23:19

I'm presuming the two very chilled out guys in the photo are the owners. Never knew letting a snake out for a wonder was a thing!

Nicknacky · 15/07/2018 23:19

karl Do they just sit there on the wall?!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 15/07/2018 23:23

Frangipani that’s several shades of amazing.

Have you seen the jackets you can knit for them? They fit over the shell and button underneath, so you can have a tortosaur on a lead.

No?

:o

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 15/07/2018 23:24

user well, I'd love to have been there, but I've always referred to small dogs as snake food, if I owned a Yorkie or something I'd definitely pick it up! Shock

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 15/07/2018 23:27

IKill they can borrow DS2, he sounds like he speaks fluent Parseltongue. He also has a scar exactly the same place as Harry's. He had an argument with a table when he was 2.

Singlenotsingle · 15/07/2018 23:28

I love snakes and we've got a 5ft corn snake at home. That is NOT a corn snake! Looks like a python - hope it's owner was there.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 15/07/2018 23:30

For a while we had a guy locally who would bring his snake into town so it could feel the sunshine. He would just sit on a bench in the main shopping street and people would stop and talk to him. He was approached by the police a couple of times but there was no reason why he couldn't be in public with the snake so they let him be.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 15/07/2018 23:32

Butchy when I lived in Maidstone, there was a man who walked around with a cockatoo on his shoulder and bird shit down his back.

Darkestnight · 15/07/2018 23:35

Would love to see this and would not bother me at all seeing the snake although kind of strange Grin

Myusernam · 15/07/2018 23:38

Fuck sake, that’s me having nightmares tonight then 🙈😂

user49er · 15/07/2018 23:40
