Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Ooohhh parking cheeky fuckers are the worst! Stay strong OP. Don’t let the bastards win!

Cheeky parking fuckers are everywhere! Reminds me of my old house where everyone generally used to park in front of their own houses on a unrestricted road. But obviously now and again people would have visitors etc so you couldn’t park directly outside your own house. Horrible neighbour opposite me had a drive with space for one car but owned two. I had no drive and one car. Came home from work one day and someone parked outside my house so parked over the road, outside horrible neighbours house, but not across dropped kerb or anything. Went out the next morning and she’d parked across her driveway , nose to nose with my car blocking me in. Before I could even go towards her house to ask her to move she came out in full fury, ranting and raving saying how dare I park in front of her house! I gestured across the road showing her someone else was parked in front of my house! And told her she didn’t own the road! Apparently she did - I worked this out as she was ranting and raving at me - with her small kids in full view! I asked her again to move her car at which point she said she was calling the police! For what I asked?! But then told her to go right ahead as they’d be telling her she was in the wrong! At this point her very sheepish partner came out and told her to move the car. She then started screaming at him! He eventually moved the car but I dread to think of the earful he’d have got later!

We have some cheeky fuckers next door now but we’re currently taking the high road as we’re trying to sell up. I’m dreaming of telling them they’re arseholes when the moving van is here!

I wouldn't drive until after you've spoke to them. Leave your car there on strike till they stop hiding.

Also tape the note inside your front window on your house 😂

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2018 22:37

Also tape the note inside your front window on your house

😂😂😂 yes!

DesignStatement · 16/07/2018 22:39

Hi NNDN 👋
You are dealing with imbeciles that actually think people with a mortgage have more parking rights on the road than renters 😂😂. All their petrol fumes have addled their brains - clearly.

LimboLuna · 16/07/2018 22:39

waves at NNDN

Hello nice neighbour, just wanted to say I’m a fellow renter and wanted to say what an utter cock for saying he has more right as an owner to park there. Utter utter cock. I hope your landlord is the type to tell him to do one.

AngeloMysterioso · 16/07/2018 22:44

Stay strong ladies!

Arkestra · 16/07/2018 22:48

Jenna you rock! And NNDN too. My only problem with this parking thread is that every diagram I see from now on will be disappointing by comparison.

Personally I'd have a word with the council and see if there's a way to get the dropped kerb at the end marked up with double yellows, or otherwise enforce it...

C0untDucku1a · 16/07/2018 22:50

I do love a good parking thread. Hope youre feeling ok op. Not too stressed by it all.

MsJolly · 16/07/2018 22:53

Gin so you can’t possibly move your car!

BitOutOfPractice · 16/07/2018 22:55

Best. Parking. Thread. Ever.

Best diagrams
A picture of a note
A ranting frothing man (CF)
A ninja MN ally.

It's got it all

I applaud you op and you too NNDN Thanks

Katyb121 · 16/07/2018 23:00

Shamelessly place marking
OP & NNDN 💐

ToadsforJustice · 16/07/2018 23:01

Sorry everyone - but I can't see the note. What did it say?

Minnie747 · 16/07/2018 23:08

Amazing diagrams. I agree, the new gold standard has been set!! Hope you and NNDN get it sorted.

pinkgirl1234 · 16/07/2018 23:12

Oh no! I've just seen this thread! That's going to be a few hours of my life spent catching up.

Just popped on to say FABULOUS DIAGRAMS! I'm in awe!

Star Star Star Star Star

Rozzzzzalmost35 · 16/07/2018 23:13

I have nothing useful to add but can we please have a diagram of the actual neighbours being all angry xx

Arthur2shedsJackson · 16/07/2018 23:21

NNDN Do you by any chance know Miss Jolly?

DesignStatement · 16/07/2018 23:25

Or are you Miss Jolly?

TwoBlueShoes · 16/07/2018 23:26

See, this is my point. Parking threads are really fun for people to read but on the Miss Jolly/Pink Cock thread, it ended with the OP’s husband getting punched and the police being called. Remember the Army Dad thread? Also ended up with assault and the police being called.

Be careful, OP. Some people get too wound up about parking in real life.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 16/07/2018 23:38

Agree TwoBlueShoes. OP and NNDN, don't let this thread push you further than you'd naturally go. You two have to live there after all.

NNDN are you seriously intimidated by your new NDN's diagram skills? All of MN are in awe!

Jghijjjoo · 16/07/2018 23:51

At least it must give you confidence to know they are such wimps.

Efferlunt · 16/07/2018 23:52

Could you get a trailer or something similar and park it where the car that blocks your drive normally is? Then it couldn’t park there but the trailer would be too short to block your car.

yecation · 16/07/2018 23:56

Place marking 🍿

MaitlandGirl · 17/07/2018 00:04

Some people are ridiculous when it comes to parking.

OP - your comment about older houses and the modern lifestyle reminded me of where my parents live. An older cul-de-sac with maybe 11 houses in. Every house has a driveway but most houses have at least 3 cars so some need to park on the road. Whenever the road is full and my elderly parents are struggling to get off their driveway someone alway notices and either guides them out, moves my parents car out for them or knocks on the awkwardly parked car owners door and gets that car moved. When their NNDN was having building work done the builders were fantastic and guided mum out every single time.

I appreciate not every street is like this but with the right neighbours lots of cars aren’t always an issue. Hopefully your CF neighbours won’t stay long.
