To think people queuing for build a bear are Fucking insane

Sorry if anyone else has mentioned this also I don't know if this is happening anywhere in the country but where I live they're doing a "pay your age for a bear" at build a bear.

People in my town were queueing for FIVE HOURS + with their children just to get a cheap bear. I think they're fucking stupid. I'm totally shocked that so many people were willing to wait that long for a Fucking bear.

AIBU?

I do actually understand the next sale, esp if you are buying furniture or saving on buying clothes that you would have bought anyway.

Nicknacky · 12/07/2018 17:31

mary but if you were so keen to get him one why don't you just buy him one, save the time and so something else fun? They start at about £12.

MaryShelley1818 · 12/07/2018 17:34

I didn’t notice screaming children or ‘sweaty’ parents.
There was loads of entertainment on and the shopping centre staff were giving our little toys/sweets/DVDs to the waiting kids too. There was characters who were dancing with the kids.
It just wasn’t that big a deal for less than half a day of my 365 days off!

FreddyFasbear · 12/07/2018 17:34

My dd just paid a fiver for a hand knitted beautiful wee bear, one of a kind, at a craft fair on Orkney 🤷‍♀️ I think BaB do overcharge for nylon generic bears. Dds old ones look cheap. They weren’t cheap, but look it. The wee bear she got today is lovely and she’s sat on a camping chair with it on her lap😊 the BaB were usually abandoned as soon as we got home.

blahblahagain · 12/07/2018 17:37

I considered going when I first heard about it. My 4 year old has a couple already and loves them and they are expensive for a teddy but the idea of even queing for a couple of hours with her and loads of other bored kids sounds like hell so I decided to keep my sanity. (and save my £4).

megletthesecond · 12/07/2018 17:37

"Buildabearg" Grin

Momo18 · 12/07/2018 17:37

All that for a cheap bear! My child is 1 but I'd rather pay full price...

MaryShelley1818 · 12/07/2018 17:38

Because I wasn’t that keen...I wouldn’t have bothered without the promotion.

Why on earth does it matter? Why on earth would people be so desperate to try to put someone else down and try to ‘prove’ they had a horrible time when they didn’t. Personally I think that’s far ‘sadder’ than someone queuing for a few hrs for a teddy bear.
AIBU really does bring out the worst in some people.

BrewDoggy · 12/07/2018 17:40

Whatever rocks your boat, @Mary, but I think the general consensus is it's rather sad.

Nicknacky · 12/07/2018 17:40

I think it's sad a grown adult wanted a teddy bear so badly.

woodenblock · 12/07/2018 17:41

@ICanOnlyLaugh

Kyla-maydia 😂😂😂

Telford! That's my nearest store. Looks like hell on earth on the best of days.

@MaryShelley1818

We've come on here to laugh at all the people who thought it would be a good idea to queue for that long for such a shit reason. If you're not happy stop reading the replies!!!!

Nicknacky · 12/07/2018 17:42

The kia-midia guy was taking the piss on the BAB FB earlier and looks like the daily mail fell for it

Metoodear · 12/07/2018 17:42

Momo18

Some people don’t have a choice it’s either cheap or nothing I eaten £700 a month and my husband is a Nurse we have 3 children and mortgage my childcare alone is £300 per month

FreddyFasbear · 12/07/2018 17:43

Personally I’m not giving much thought to the people who queued, I’m just relieved I’m not caught in the fucking traffic at home trying to get in from work 😂 and I couldn’t have had a long walk and a couple of local gins in Intu 😳. I’m just selfishly glad I missed the chaos 🤪 and a bit tipsy maybe 🥃

2018Already · 12/07/2018 17:45

The media don’t help. Giving space to the tweets and moans of the idiots who feel hard done by, as if it’s the shop’s fault for forcing them to stand in a queue for 6 hours. This entitled, consumerist, bad behaviour should be shamed not encouraged. If you’re happy to queue - fine. But don’t people realise that they’re not owed a stupid cheap bear? That if the queue’s that long, there probably won’t be any bears left when they get to the front? And that they have a choice about whether or not to be there?

honeybeeq · 12/07/2018 17:45

Haha! They've totally been duped by that Ben person.

To think people queuing for build a bear are Fucking insane
NoFucksImAQueen · 12/07/2018 17:48

I wish people would lay off Mary. I can see that if you'd spent 2hours in the queue already you'd be loathe to leave it and her child is kind of the perfect age to wait around. As long as the child is happy and fed and not bothered then who cares?
We went with my 2 year old and my friends 3 year old but the queue was 6 hours so we left it and went shopping because I can't think of much more hellish than waiting that long with a toddler

Hawkie · 12/07/2018 17:55

It’s because it’s pay your age

No shit Sherlock! I thought they had lines like that every day...

ChristmasArmadillo · 12/07/2018 17:57

The wait time near me is estimated as “all day”. We have a few BABs and they are definitely not worth it! I’m not sure I can think of much, if anything, that would be worth standing in a line all day with two toddlers.

Hawkie · 12/07/2018 17:57

What a marketing ploy though. They'll be announcing they are all out of stock today but I suspect the shops will all be refilled tomorrow, when it's full price again.

That, or the perfect time to bring in a new over inflated range of bears. What a great way to sneak in a few price hikes with new products.

JumbleJamba · 12/07/2018 18:03

I'm with you OP I think they're nuts. I can't imagine how anyone other than a deeply stupid person would stand in a queue with their kids for hours on end to get a few quid off a Teddy bear. Especially the ones who are complaining about what an awful time they've had. Idiots.

ChuffingNorah · 12/07/2018 18:21

I just heard a man on the radio complaining about the queues, saying "You can't tell a three year old they.. they... CAN'T HAVE A BEAR!".

Yes. Yes you can.

Soubriquet · 12/07/2018 18:43

I love BAB. Preferred bear factory as the bears seemed to be better quality. I've got 3 bear factory bear and one BAB and the difference is plain to see.

My dd has a BAB and it has slept in bed with her every single night since she got it two years ago.

I would have gone along today but as soon as I saw the queue I probably would have walked away even if my dd was upset. I would rather pay full price and save 5 hours of queueing over a bear I could say £15 off.
