I don't like him or agree with his policies, but what good is it going to do walking around with a giant helium balloon of a baby?

Loads of horrible world leaders from the middle East that are doing far far woorse and they get a royal visit over here with no one batting an eyelid. Just smacks of double standards to me.

LimeBarrel if you're bothered about protestors appearing rude, try this one:

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jul/13/trump-hails-boris-johnson-as-future-pm-and-attacks-sadiq-khan

Anniegetyourgun · 13/07/2018 08:39

That's as if, on her much-criticised visit to the newly-installed Trump, May had announced to the world at large that she thought Hillary Clinton would have made a really great President; i.e., breathtakingly, deliberately and gratuitously offensive. (Wish she had.)

Regarding Brexit, Trump practically said in so many words that he doesn't want the UK continuing to trade amicably with the EU because we won't be desperate enough to accept his kind of "deal".

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 13/07/2018 08:42

Maybe someone will take a pot shot at it (hopefully!).

Anniegetyourgun · 13/07/2018 08:44

Oh yes, let's start shooting at blimps over the heads of a London crowd. Brilliant idea. It's not as if anyone could get hurt or anything.

NanaNoodleman · 13/07/2018 08:47

I guess we can only hope the duke of Edinburgh takes a dislike to him and achieves his usual Olympian levels of rudeness today

maxthemartian · 13/07/2018 08:51

Annie yes and then topped it off with thinly-veiled anti-Semitic insult towards Michael Bloomberg. (Yes I know he was no longer mayor by then but you take my point...)

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 13/07/2018 08:57

Actually I don't see the point in protesting - it only gives our poor overworked police more to do.

derxa · 13/07/2018 08:58

she thought Hillary Clinton would have made a really great President bleugh

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 09:09

Didn't we have a similar thread a couple of days ago? Or are people still desperate to express their racist opinions about SK and do a bit more brown-nosing for DT?

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 09:10

Poor overworked police due to staffing cuts by current Tory government. Anything else you want to throw in?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/07/2018 09:15

The London Mayor has already said he would allow any other blimps.

Is everyone here too young to remember spitting image?

Mqriejonea · 13/07/2018 09:27

SK is very clear and smug that he did allow this on the radio today.

Should never have been allowed just from a safety point of view.

The right to protest isn't a right to fly a fucking blimp.

All these protestors are doing is looking silly and draining public resources.

derxa · 13/07/2018 09:28

The London Mayor has already said he would allow any other blimps.
What an idiot.

Mqriejonea · 13/07/2018 09:29

Of course now he says that now, I think he's a woorse mayor than Johnson, and that's a low bar.

He wasted so much time on media and this blimp, how about some of the affordable houses and less chasing the limelight Sadique?

timeisnotaline · 13/07/2018 09:33

Surely most people on this site are women? Any women who think protest doesn’t accomplish anything should hand back any education they have, any property they own , any employment rights and their right to vote.

echt · 13/07/2018 09:35

Tip-top post, time.

Mqriejonea · 13/07/2018 09:36

That comment would make some sense if the thread was saying ALL protests were a waste of time. It isn't. It's just about protesting about a democratically elected leader of another country.

makingtime · 13/07/2018 09:42

And who do you think was stopping women having equal rights? We might as well say women shouldn't have bothered to protest because it was democratically elected governments that refused them their equal rights. Aren't most political protests about the actions of democratically elected governments?

yy558 · 13/07/2018 09:45

Agreement Sadiq needs to spend his time doing something useful instead of pandering.

I don't understand where these protestors find the time to protest - and I don't even have the time to breathe most days. What use is it to protest someone you can't vote against/for and he's not even in bloody London.

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 09:49

So all you DT apologists? What do you get out of brown-nosing Trump? Your time wasted on here doesn't achieve anything. Why don't you fuck off? Oh, free speech, I hear you say. How about allowing others to spend their time and energy for something they care about. Bunch of hypocrites.

Setpeace · 13/07/2018 09:56

I like protests. I think the blimp is very funny and very English.

But I do feel this is personal from sadiq kahn, from his pov it's un dignified. It's too close to home because of the spat between him and Don.
I think something about protests yes but no blimp... I don't blame sadiq for being secretly thrilled with it but it's not the dignified response from a man in that office.

OhHolyJesus · 13/07/2018 09:56

If the only thing the marches do today is give people a chance to vehemently express their disgust at the most ridiculous POTUS and it makes them feel better for doing so then I think it's well worth it. I wish I was there. I detest him, his policies and his cabinet and I would stamp my feet and shout til horse to tell him to fuck off back to America if I had the chance.

I would not be violent and I don't think the protests will go that way at all.

If people think any agreements made during his visit will be honoured, look at the US and China and don't pin your hopes on a trade deal post Brexit either. He is not a man of his word, he can barely remember his words or speak to a brief!

commonarewe · 13/07/2018 10:07

The blimp is deeply childish, but then lefty virtue-signallers do need something to cheer themselves up as their ideology loses ground across the world, so who cares? Grin

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 10:07

I'd go to the protests if I could. FFS even my parents who live abroad (in Europe) rang me this morning to see if I'm going - and why not? If an 80 year old can be engaged in U.K. politics I think i ought to as well.
