Think of the children!!! 😂

Candyflip · 12/07/2018 02:56

The Jules Rimet trophy hasn’t been used since 1970, and has since been stolen and never recovered. choccywoccyhooha

Candyflip · 12/07/2018 02:58

And the current trophy was made in Italy! 😂😂

malificent7 · 12/07/2018 05:09

Croatia have world class players....it was tough.

confused5 · 12/07/2018 05:38

I was sad too, but Croatia are a much better and more experienced team. They played very well in the second half and deserved to win.

Whether England will ever be able to play like them or better teams, I don’t know. Something is missing. Pure unadulterated skill.

I did want England to win though - they are a sweet unassuming team and it would have felt great. Especially given the twin delights of Brexit and Trump about to land here Sad.

confused5 · 12/07/2018 05:40

But given the damage that there might have been if they had won, maybe it’s a good thing. The team are lovely, some of the fans - not so much.

Costacoffeeplease · 12/07/2018 06:37

Some people are so joyless. I love seeing people coming together to celebrate and take pride in their country. It’s fun. It’s happiness. Some people really don’t like to see others too happy though, it makes them feel inadequate.

Ha ha ha to infinity. Thankfully there are lots of things that bring me joy rather than bloody football.

And seeing other people happy makes me feel inadequate. Really? Confused.

One of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen on here, and that’s saying something. Football certainly brings out the numpties

Yogagirl123 · 12/07/2018 06:49

Yes, we are disappointed, but they did us proud. Well done England.

Shumpalumpa · 12/07/2018 06:51

It's incredibly sad to see so many bitter people who can't muster the smallest ounce of sympathy for the young lads who have been representing England, playing their hearts out, training harder than ever, missing families and friends who are desperately trying to leave their mark in their industry (not unlike many of us) and make us proud. But yes. Who gives a shit because it doesn't directly impact you

Who is bitter? Some people are not that interested in football or in the loss, that's not a crime. These young lads are going to be richer than any of can oossibly dream so I can't feel to sorry for them.

Rosie342 · 12/07/2018 07:19

I'm gutted for the country, everyone was behind the team and very enthusiastic for a win. People seemed happier generally and excited BUT I'm glad we lost. There is an air of relief that its finally over and yobs can stop trashing ambulances and behaving like idiots over a football game.

Mousefunky · 12/07/2018 07:22

I don’t support England but I have to say, this is easily the best I have ever seen them play football in my lifetime. Pickford is brilliant and Southgate has done a great job. I was slightly disappointed for them last night but Croatia were the better team.

southeastdweller · 12/07/2018 07:25

For all those boring people out there who have nothing good to say, shame on you....there's no I in team, but there is a u in c@*#.

It’s this kind of weird attitude I find annoying. Can’t the football lovers just accept without being nasty and rude that some others have no interest in a game?

Lethaldrizzle · 12/07/2018 07:32

It's the crying I don't understand. What's with all the crying. Of course It's a bit sad but have never understood the emotion side of it.

Itchytights · 12/07/2018 07:37

I am completely gutted.

They should have wrapped up the game in the first half as they had many chances.

I thought Kane was shit; possibly due to an injury and that the referee was very biased.

The Croatians played dirty and I am rooting for France on Sunday.

LEMtheoriginal · 12/07/2018 07:41

Mousefunky - i agree with you. I think Gareth Southgate has been exemplary as has his team. No massive egos have emerged just fantastic footballers. Especially pickford - he has been outstanding in goal. Harry kane started well but i think he didn't maintain.

I dont agree that croatia were the better team i just think the dice didnt roll our way. In fact when we scored so early i knew we would lose. Croatia got themselves together in the second half and psychologically this put them ahead even though it was a draw. We went into extra time exhausted.

But well done the boys - you gave people like me who really couldn't care two figs about football day to day a real sense of pride and i have loved watching the world cup this time. Thankyou

EXACTLY!!! I'm not interested in football at all. Though I did watch the Columbia and Croatia matches on tv out of mild interest.

My general dislike of football is primarily due to the way it makes people behave. Watching people celebrate goals - especially in the World Cup - is like watching people try to out do each other over how much excitement they can display. Such aggressively OTT behaviour is quite intimidating. That sort of behaviour can be seen in football at all levels. Right down to the manic parents who scream at primary kids playing the game.

Then of course there's the ridiculous sums of money they're paid and all that stupid rolling around on the floor 'in agony' if they break a nail.

JacquesHammer · 12/07/2018 07:48

Things I have learned during the World Cup.

A number of posters on MN think they’re incredibly edgy
A number of posters on MN can’t seem to understand that there isn’t a hive mind of football fans
Certain people who professed to finding football tedious have posted more on the subject that anyone else

Useful exercise Grin

MadMags · 12/07/2018 08:00

Can only agree with that because lets face it - Scotland, Wales or Ireland aren.t nearly in the same league

Why are you bringing Ireland into this? Ireland is not part of the UK. FFS!

Pleasegodgotosleep · 12/07/2018 08:05

I'm Scottish but feel gutted on your behalf!

hairyscarey · 12/07/2018 08:08

all that "bringing it home" shite was tedious. I'm glad it's all over. Think it would be great for a small country like Croatia to win.

Butterymuffin · 12/07/2018 08:18

There are always people who go OTT about anything or use it as an excuse to be dicks, but that's not the team's fault. They played well, did better than expected, and Southgate has been a great role model for boys, men, well everyone. Someone has to lose and last night it was their turn.

sunlighthouse · 12/07/2018 08:22

I feel pretty sad about it. It was nice to have some positive to unite everyone for a little while.

Beehiveyourself · 12/07/2018 08:26

What are they even bringing home? The ball?!

What does it mean? It doesn’t make sense.

Beehiveyourself · 12/07/2018 08:28

sunlighthouse Streets were smashed up when the England team won, not exactly everyone united...

Theycouldhavechoseneve · 12/07/2018 08:34

Absolutely gutted! But proud at the same time. Roll on 2020!
