To think we’re yet again in danger of race riots, unless something is done?

To be clear, I absolutely do not condone violence of any sort (and I hope there’s a longer version of the video available somewhere to clarify what happened here), but the comments alone tell another story, don’t they?

There’s a lot of resentment brewing, clearly. I didn’t realise how much.

Hopefully that one is clicky ☝🏻

I don't take those comments seriously even if they're distasteful.

Battleax · 09/07/2018 23:04

I do think maybe we should take the feeling and frustration behind the comments seriously.

I admit I’m out of touch with London now, but was still there at the time of the London riots and change WAS promised.

I’d been hoping that developments since then (Sadiq’s election, BLM UK) might have moved things along a bit.

I don’t know what the cause of the argument was, or if race played any part. But that white woman spat at the black woman. Regardless of colour, if anyone spat at me they’d be getting a hiding for it.

Was it race related, or is skin colour only being brought into it after the event?

GorgeousJaws · 09/07/2018 23:11

The incident was nearly two years ago, there is a little more to the story.

Bus fight

Comments like those are sadly commonplace on the Internet.

Noqont · 09/07/2018 23:11

FFS. That's appalling Angry

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 09/07/2018 23:12

Must add... I don’t have sound on my phone (too many dips in the toilet 😬) so if audio played a part, I missed it.

RochelleGoyle · 09/07/2018 23:12

It's hard to comment when you can't see the origin of the confrontation.

GorgeousJaws · 09/07/2018 23:12

Was in Canada, 2016.

Battleax · 09/07/2018 23:13

I don’t know cabbage. And I’m not trying to defend any of the behaviour in the video, from either party.

I’m just dismayed at what bad feeling there seems to be.

According to the below article, the video was filmed in Vancouver in 2016. Where and when are you expecting these race riots?

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 09/07/2018 23:15

From the report posted above.. there’s no danger of riots, it’s just a bitter old crow - possibly racist, possibly just full of hatred generally - that got put back in her place.

What a nasty old bitch.

GorgeousJaws · 09/07/2018 23:15

The link above is to a Daily Mirror article about it

RochelleGoyle · 09/07/2018 23:15

Ah, thanks for the further info Jaws. If the case was as reported, the white woman's behaviour was shocking.

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 23:16

Er no!

race riots indeed! The only riots I remember were those In the 70s/80s/and the ones in 2013!

So the miners strikes, poll tax and general yobbish looting and thieving in that order.

Race didn’t come into it all races rioted.

Battleax · 09/07/2018 23:17

Yeah I’m talking about 2013 sea. People had an entirely justified sense of grievance. But it’s never good when it all combusts.

I thought they were British voices?

It seems wrong to say that I hope it IS Canada, but I do.

Well, no she got battered.

There are plenty of nasty old racists about, sadly. Battering them all isn’t the answer.

Today I witnessed an older meditteranean woman call a black girl a "black shit" for screaming in the street. I'd say the girl was 13 and yes the scream was ear piercing. The girl and her friends responded maturely and told her politely she couldn't be racist.
The old bag's aggressive response was she had a headache.
Those teenagers showed more restraint than that old bitch.
So no, I don't worry about race riots.

Battleax · 09/07/2018 23:25

Good for that girl Smile

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 09/07/2018 23:30

@battleax she didn’t get battered... she got a slap, she earns that by spitting... if far rather be slapped than spat at!

The fall wasn’t from being hit, the fall was to block the man in the wheelchair from getting off the bus until the police arrived. When she got up... she spat again and tried to slap the man.

She deserved that slap.

Barbadosgirl · 09/07/2018 23:34

I don’t know about the video but Seasawride you cannot possibly think of any riots in the 70s/80s where race was a component?!

Battleax · 09/07/2018 23:36

I m ant battery in the legal sense.

Do you know how many people with no criminal record acquired one in the 2013 riots?

That’s what worries me.

The content of that particular video isn’t really the point. The comments are.
