To think we’re yet again in danger of race riots, unless something is done?

To be clear, I absolutely do not condone violence of any sort (and I hope there’s a longer version of the video available somewhere to clarify what happened here), but the comments alone tell another story, don’t they?

There’s a lot of resentment brewing, clearly. I didn’t realise how much.

You spit on me, you get a slap (unless you are a truly older lady, because come on), no matter your colour. She earned that.
On the other hand, you do not have to look far to see some truly hair raising comments from all races, but mostly black and white, on some supposedly legitimate sources of informations and opinion pieces. And I am not talking about the DM. That is really concerning.

I’d rather not condone violence, personally, even when massively provoked.

But, yes, this exactly.

It feels like trouble brewing to me and the government need to do something about the environment that breeds it.

She spit in the face of a disabled man. I wouldn't have slapped her personally, but the dramatic floor roll was quite disproportionate to the slap. I can't bring myself to feel sorry for her.

Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:05

I don’t think anyone anywhere has suggested that anyone should be feeling sorry for the racist steffi Confused

Barbadosgirl

Not really I grew up in Handsworth in brum In the late 70s early 80s and yes remember ‘this town is coming like a ghost town’ about Coventry and the wonderful music of that time but my recollection is general rioting against authority not between black/white.

steff13 · 10/07/2018 00:07

I was just saying. Is that not ok?

Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:10

Fine. I was just concerned that you’d misunderstood what one of us on the thread had meant.

To be honest your language op as in ‘old crow’ and ‘old bag* are as vile as her actions.

Very ageist and silly

Shumpalumpa · 10/07/2018 00:17

That video, especially the accents, is so obviously North American. How on earth did you mistake it for the UK?

Are you new to Twitter, OP?

Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:22

I haven’t said either of those things or anything ageist.

Perhaps you’d like to apologise @Seasawride ?

OP posts:
Seasawride · 10/07/2018 00:26

I apologise for that op as I see you didn’t say that and I am sorry.

However your op is nonsense and I think you realise that now.

Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:26

Maybe I should be worried about my hearing shump. Im not great at accents but I’m worried that I can’t hear anything N American there at all. But if it’s Canada, it’s Canada, regardless of my ears.

OP posts:
Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:33

No it’s not nonsense. As I said, it was the obvious story of the comments that worried me. People don’t vent like that unless they’re suppressing a lot of frustration and hurt. We’ve got a long way to go.

I just got the continent wrong.

I think some would love the drama of riots

Even after the Brexit vote when unfortunately it gave rise to some who felt they were able to air their racist views far more people will speak out against them and challenge racism that’s not to say there isn’t racism within our society but we have moved on from the 70’s

Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:40

I think the internet has enabled a lot of that. At one point every other thread here was about Britain First bollocks in FB. I only saw it twice, but blocked a relative for sharing something like that. Without seeing it on FB, I never would have dreamt they were racist, grey certainly never expressed it verbally in however long I’ve known them. I guess there’s a lot of that now.

🤣...

The groan and slump!

She deserved that!

🗣 DON'T GIVE IT IF YOU CANT TAKE IT!

She's lucky that's all she got!

Battleax · 10/07/2018 00:43

Yeah you’re right Beans; Well Just have anti-racist vigilantism and when EDL get in on the act in retaliation that’ll all be cool 🙄

Or we could, y’know, tackle the underlying murkiness.

LuluJakey1 · 10/07/2018 00:56

It was in Canada in Vancouver 2 years ago. Nothing to do with London in 2018.

Battleax · 10/07/2018 01:00

Yes we established that.

I hadn't seen this before. If relating race riots to UK tho - racism is more open than pre-Brexit vote.

Although now Windrush descendants are prominent in England National Squad, they've taken a breather from calling the players monkeys on social media. It spells out the hypocrisy of racism over here.

Generally I think most racists hide behind social media and would shit themselves before they'd ever directly racially abuse someone in real life. I'm not bothered by them and would take no shit from them either.

A lot of elderly people decide they've reached an age whereby they can speak and act as they please. Nice to see they can get a reminder that life doesn't always work that way.

Whatever the case there won't be race riots here as not enough racists are brave enough to start one.

Battleax · 10/07/2018 01:13

No, but young people could riot again. People fed up with policy, and police action and open racism and poverty etc. It only takes one incident to spark it when feeling is high. (Duggan last time.)

Thankfully it turns out the spitting is Canadian thing, so that’s something.

OP posts:
Keepittenten · 10/07/2018 01:19

@Seasawride We did have ‘race riots’ in Northern England in 2001. Although, not on the scale of the mass looting and destruction of the later riots that started in London.
Burnley, Bradford and Oldham were all affected.

Beansonapost · 10/07/2018 01:22

No, you don't go around assaulting people especially with your bodily fluids and not expect retaliation.

Not everyone is a door mat!

And you're taking this video way out of context.

If it was another white person who had slapped her would you even be concerned?

Or is it because this video seems to be playing into the "angry black woman" narrative that has you concerned about violence and race riots?!

Because god forbid people actually stand up for themselves instead of going home to have a moan....

I repeat; not everyone is a door mat and not everyone who defends themselves against assaults are violent. Some people just don't like taking shit.... black white or brown.

She deserved what she got! And she's lucky that's all she got! Shes a nasty piece of woman!

@Battleax

MistressDeeCee · 10/07/2018 01:33

The theatrical slump and groan in the clip.is the usual when they get a ringing slap after their out of order behaviour.

The old woman is scum. Needs locking away if she can't conduct herself properly when out and about.

Battleax · 10/07/2018 01:39

Needs locking away if she can't conduct herself properly when out and about.

That she does.
