To think we’re yet again in danger of race riots, unless something is done?

To be clear, I absolutely do not condone violence of any sort (and I hope there’s a longer version of the video available somewhere to clarify what happened here), but the comments alone tell another story, don’t they?

There’s a lot of resentment brewing, clearly. I didn’t realise how much.

To be honest your language op as in ‘old crow’ and ‘old bag are as vile as her actions*

You're mad. Using insulting words on the internet that would will never reach her eyes is as bad as spitting in a disabled man's face?

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 07:00

No not mad language is important.

Mind you this thread is nuts as we have established this is old news and in Canada.

Barbadosgirl · 10/07/2018 07:26

Seasawride the Scarman report found that the cause of the riots was linked to the disproportionate use of stop and search by the police against black people. The later riots in Brixton and Tottenham were both triggered by specific events where the (white) police entered the home of black elders and they died (in one case, the police killed her). The riots and the fact that the recommendations which came out of the Scarman report were not all implemented were directly referenced in the MacPherson report and its reference to institutional racism in the police. The riots may well have been against the police rather than white people per se but that doesn't mean these riots were not race riots or about race- the institutions against which they were rioting were white and institutionally racist. I think ignoring that state of affairs and that (understandable) rage is what led to the riots and the (not understandable or forgiveable) hacking to death of PC Blakelock. This state of affairs was felt to be basically unchanged when the peaceful protest in relation to the shooting of Mark Duggan spun into riots (which admittedly then became about looting). I think we ignore these things to our cost.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 09:19

barbadosgirl

I accept all that you say but my point was the riots per se were not black against white fighting on the streets.

That was my only point.

Talking of slapping people and words like old crow etc are quite unacceptable just as the actions of the woman were vile.

RunMummyRun68 · 10/07/2018 09:37

As per title..... we are in danger of race riots unless 'something is done'??

Wtf? Is this meant to be inflammatory or is it serious? What is supposed to be 'done'?

EiraCat · 10/07/2018 09:40

That flop at the end Grin

EiraCat · 10/07/2018 09:43

The white woman deserved it.

What an utterly bizarre thread.

@EnthusiasmIsDisturbed
I think some would love the drama of riots

Agreed! In some recent threads you'd think the apocalypse was coming going by the antics of some people and their need to create drama.

mumsastudent · 10/07/2018 09:59

the problem with the internet whether items spread on twitter or facebook or even here is you have no idea of source context what went before or after, whether is been edited, or the motivation of the original person who created it. I always go back and check other sources - things that are suppose to happen in one country or time turn out to be somewhere else, etc etc this kind of thing causes anger and in itself can orchestrate the situation it falsely portrays ie self-fulfilling prophecies ie the circle of vendettas-its individuals not groups and should be seen as such

Battleax · 10/07/2018 11:15

Barbados yes that was what I meant.

I shouldn’t brood after midnight but post-Brexit it’s all been a bit uncomfortable. I just never want to see it kick off again.

Oh piss right off Mission. Seriously. If you’d ever seen anything like that up close, you wouldn’t even joke about people wanting it.

People had an entirely justified sense of grievance. But it’s never good when it all combusts.

Really? You think they were justified in being angry because the police took out and armed gangster who was a danger to the public and had the intent to kill?

And inquiry after inquiry says they were justified killing him?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/07/2018 11:33

Op your post is odd

From two years ago and that is clear with the date

And yes some would love the drama I witnessed that living in London in 2011 the excitement from some was clear if you were on social media and caught up in any incident

There is reporting an incident, discussing but oh I’m so worried about race riots from an article I haven’t really taken much notice of Hmm

PaduaPanda · 10/07/2018 11:34

Yes, it's almost like OP was stirring the pot.

RunMummyRun68 · 10/07/2018 11:36

Goady goady

MaryMcCarthy · 10/07/2018 11:37

Race riots generally aren't prompted by white people and black people arguing on public transport.

Seasawride · 10/07/2018 11:37

Yes some people love a good drama.

Maybe watch a soap instead or love island

No race riots in the uk at the moment. And there won’t be.

Battleax · 10/07/2018 11:39

Op your post is odd

Yeah I know that. I was half awake and worrying about things.

We’ve established long ago that it’s Canada anyway.

Duggan was just the spark. There’s a lot for people to be justifiably pissed off with. It wasn’t very long ago that Stop n search was causing issues again, for example, and we’ve had all the post-Brexit stuff.

But those comments that worried me last night turned out to be about something else somewhere else anyway, so if feelings are peaking, that isn’t a sign of it.

Yes and the constant deaths of black lads are working so much better for the community than stop and search arnt they? Angry

Ffs I have 4 white lads and all of them have been stopped and searched in brum.

No issue at all. Glad police are pro active.

The end of stop and search has caused untold deaths and misery

Battleax · 10/07/2018 11:48

Seaside so far we’ve established that you don’t know what race riots (tabloid shorthand to be fair) ARE and you can’t tell which poster is making which posts anyway.

Why don’t you go and watch the crap tv, dear? Wink

Right. Because those are the two alternatives?

*Duggan was a thriving vile drug dealer.

The following riots were. About looting and let me remind you those poor flat dwellers escaped death by seconds and lost everything.

It was a fucking disgrace. Don’t you dare excuse that.
