to wonder what the real reason for them missing the christening is?

The BBC are reporting that the Queen and D of E are not going to the christening of Prince Louis but say it's not due to ill health.

Why else would they miss it? It doesn't make sense to me.

To prepare for Trump visit..

StoorieHoose · 09/07/2018 15:18

Pulling a sickie and making Charles do the trump visit

Pengggwn · 09/07/2018 15:19

Because if they attend this christening, they have to attend all the others?

CruCru · 09/07/2018 15:19

Maybe they’re just really overscheduled. The Queen has a diary that I’d find a bit much (I know that she is looked after in many ways) and I am fifty years younger.

Oddcat · 09/07/2018 15:20

Maybe it's just too much for them , I know it's not an official duty and normally families attend christenings , but they could just be tired.

NewYearNewMe18 · 09/07/2018 15:21

At 92 and 97, one recovering from a hip replacement and broken ribs, the other on a weeks arduous tour of Scotland in the heat …….. but if you follow court circulars you know this was discussed weeks ago and agreed upon.

itswinetime · 09/07/2018 15:22

Because they are in their 90s it's boiling hot and all that driving around is a bit much??? For a 30 min service!

There are going to be like 20 people there Sound like the family want it low key I guess the queen being there makes it more fuss! There are loads or reasons, press making something out of nothing again.

QuinquiremeOfNineveh · 09/07/2018 15:23

Elderly couple don't fancy dressing up in posh clothes to attend an event in hot weather. Don't see what 'doesn't make sense' about that.

hipposarerad · 09/07/2018 15:28

Because the heir and spare are sorted and they're not arsed about no 3. Or one of them is on the brink of turning their toes up.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 09/07/2018 15:35

He's 3rd in line and it lets Charles be king for the day (haha) . There may be another private family engagement or issue going on that has been prioritised.

ScoobyGangMember · 09/07/2018 15:37

5th in line, surely.

AmazingPostVoices · 09/07/2018 15:39

For goodness sake, very elderly relatives feimed both our wedding and our children’s christenings.

They weren’t unwell, it’s not that they don’t like us or don’t value the children, they are just old and it was too much for them.

It’s pretty normal and not that big a deal.

elQuintoConyo · 09/07/2018 15:40

They have Bingo on Monday afternoons after the 2for1 pensioners offer on soup of the day at Harrods.

I imagine:
A too busy
B too hot
C bit too much to cram in to a week at their age & health worries
D not bothered

CuriousaboutSamphire · 09/07/2018 15:41

They're old, they don't fancy that kind of event, it's a long way from Sandringham!

You know, all the reasons lots of elderly relatives don't attend family occasions!

AlbertaSimmons · 09/07/2018 15:44

Sudden onset CBA.

Sudden onset CBA
I like that, I can see myself coming down with that in future.

00100001 · 09/07/2018 15:47

it's because they secretly hate the baby, and want the world to know it.

AlbertaSimmons · 09/07/2018 15:48

I'm a martyr to it Utterly Wink

halfwitpicker · 09/07/2018 15:54

When is Trump actually due to arrive?

you lucky, lucky people-

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 09/07/2018 15:55

@Scoobygang yes. I meant to say 3rd kid & 5th in line. Paraphrasing in the heat, oops!

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/07/2018 15:56

The d of e is still fragile. The poor queen I expect is pooped. Think it’s ok of them to miss one engagement.

DryHeave · 09/07/2018 15:58

Laying a plausible foundation for sacking off the Trump visit.

Atthebottomofthesea · 09/07/2018 15:58

Anyone who is #3 or has 3 (or more) knows that by that stage no one else is bothered and if they can get out of something they will.

signed bitter 3rd child

Turmericky · 09/07/2018 16:01

Because they fancy spending the afternoon on their La-zee-boys with a can of Fanta, a packet of hula-hoops and the tennis on volume 95.
Rocking their cheesecloth kaftans.

Least that's what MIL is doing and she's a similar age.

kingseat2016 · 09/07/2018 16:02

I am no fan at all of the royal family but they are in their 90s and I think are with their rights to say we can’t be arsed!
