To need to hear about vasectomies

Dh is waiting on a letter for the date of his vasectomy.
Can anyone let me know what to expect? I work lates and he does the afternoon school run and subsequent child wrangling.
He's not very good at stopping still so I'm wondering if I need to book the evening off work. He's already said no but then it's not something we've been through before!
Friends of his aren't useful as some sailed through and some found it tough.
Can I hear your experiences please.

Just an update to say he had the procedure yesterday. I took the evening off work so I could do the school run and sort tea. He's been ok so far, a bit tender but other than that ok.
He's more bothered about the contraption keeping it all in place and the lack of showering for 48 hours! It's the strangest looking thing! It's a cross between a hairnet, a hammock and a thong
He actually told me the other day that prt of his reasoning behind getting it done was so that I can have my coil removed which is causing me all sorts of hormonal problems. I've been incredibly low over the past week and it definitely has a pattern that I don't always see.
