To think people genuinely hate England?

Is anyone else sick of seeing the anger/hatred towards England in the World Cup? This 'anyone but england' mentality from almost every other country is disheartening honestly. I've seen every excuse under the sun, we haven't played a proper team yet, 200,000 signatures to re-play the Colombia match because apparently that wasn't fair, blaming a few rowdy fans for not wanting England to win. I'm especially surprised by the amount of Scottish/Irish/Welsh people who seem to feel like this (on social media) i know we'd so be routing for our neighbours if it was the other way round! So... AIBU to think everyone just friggin hates England?!

@DeltaG

Has hubby given you permission to speak? If not, pipe down.

How do you know if I am male or female?

Or indeed married?

Go on. Have a dig through my threads, like you did rose... And tell me if I am married, and if I am male or female...

By the way...... You do have a really amazing amount of spare time considering you have such a well-paid, busy important job.

So go on then. Am I male or female? And am I married?

rosesandflowers1 · 09/07/2018 14:30

You can spend wordy paragraphs attempting to belittle me, but it won't have any effect on the facts.

The "facts" are that I stay at home and you work.

Everything else is opinion, and your opinions, quite frankly, are vile and misogynistic.

Also, what on Earth was 'wordy' about what I said?

Now, why don't you run along with the other upper class wives and do whatever it is you 'do' with your afternoons, in between looking down on people who work for a living.

Gorgeously patronising from someone who claims I look down on people!

I don't know what you do, but it's nothing better than the work I do. Not just my actual job - it's no better or harder than domestic work either. And if you do think that domestic tasks are inherently lesser or easier than whatever you do, you might just be a misogynist.

By the way, your implication that SAHM don't do anything is staggering. Do you have any idea at all? How can you accuse me of "belittling" you?

RoseWhiteTips · 09/07/2018 14:31

Upper class wife? I very much doubt she is that!

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 14:34

LOL at @DeltaG calling Roseandflowers1 an 'upper class wife.' DeltaG has so many chips on her shoulders, she needs a wheelbarrow to carry them all.

And some ointment for all those raw nerves. Grin

She is probably busy right now trying to find 'evidence' of my marital status and gender...

Keep looking DeltaG! Grin

Duchess of Daftness and Housekeeping? It’s got a certain ring to it.

hmcAsWas · 09/07/2018 14:37

"It’s shite when they do that isn’t it?"

Meh, it doesn't bother me - just felt that it was an interesting counterpoint to the suggestion of Anglocentrism

derxa · 09/07/2018 14:38

My point is (as you have just proved) that we shouldn't judge all farmers (young or otherwise) because of the bad, boorish and violent behaviour of a minority. It seems that some on here won't apply the same principle to English football fans. That's true. However I'm shocked by that Blackpool thing. Young Farmers have been getting drunk since God was a boy but in my experience they don't get violent.

rosesandflowers1 · 09/07/2018 14:41

Duchess of Daftness and Housekeeping? It’s got a certain ring to it.

Oh dear - I've brought out another one!

You two are going to have to confer - are her posts unnecessarily 'wordy' or is she really daft? Can we keep acting like housekeeping is the only work she does (not that it would be bad if I did) or will someone cotton on to the fact that she's stated she works from home at least twice on the thread? Can we accuse her of snobbery while "doubting" that she's upper class as an insult? even though if she's gone digging through my threads Delta already knows I'm not

bellinisurge · 09/07/2018 14:44

Actually, op, you'll find a lot of people not wanting Germany to win because of Hitler.
I support England but if it was England vs ROI .... hmm. That'd be a tough call.

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 14:50

@DeltaG has gone awfully quiet hasn't she? Grin

Still not found out my marital status or if I am male or female Delta?

Bet your mind is working overtime! Bet it's driving you crazy trawling through my threads, trying to find out eh?

scottishdiem · 09/07/2018 14:56

Lots of touchy English people on this thread up to and including defending colonialism. Deliciously thin skinned people.

DeltaG · 09/07/2018 14:56

Oops, I got distracted arguing with the Stepford wives contingent.

But back to the matter at hand, my take from the thread is that not everyone hates England by any means and that every nation has it's share of hooligans and idiots.

I didn't expect England to get this far but I'm glad they have. If they go no further then I'll still be happy with the team's performance. We're all enjoying the festive atmosphere where I live and very happy to see the flags of many nations flying from homes and cars!

ElBurroSinNombre · 09/07/2018 14:57

As an interlude whilst we wait with baited breath for the next diatribe in the SAHM spat, here is some good news about the damage caused by jubilant fans;

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-44763415

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 15:01

@DeltaG

Didn't think you would know whether I am male or female or married or single.

Which makes your comments aimed at me rather pathetic and pointless and fucking stupid really.

DeltaG · 09/07/2018 15:02

@chrisinthesun

I don't know or care. Bye.

rosesandflowers1 · 09/07/2018 15:02

Oops, I got distracted arguing with the Stepford wives contingent.

Does that mean you found out that chrisinthesun is a wife, then? Grin

I find your view of SAHM intriguing. Submissive conformist women who are only concerned with appearance, obedience and domestic tasks.

It says a lot about you.

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 15:03

@DeltaG

Couldn't find out anything about me from trawling through my threads eh?

Bet you're tearing your hair out. Grin

rosesandflowers1 · 09/07/2018 15:03

Oh, you don't know if they're a wife or not?

Dear me, 'contingent' was a bit of a stretch when we were a pair.

DeltaG · 09/07/2018 15:05

I hope that the morons who were responsible for this damage have time to think upon their actions before the next game and that we won't see a repeat of it. I think some people are just looking for an excuse to have a pissed-up brawl.

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 15:05

Roseandflowers1, @DeltaG has no clue if I am a wife or husband or if I am single or married, or what I do for a living.

Must be driving her nuts.

Her ignoring my question is proving she doesn't know FUCKALL about me. Grin

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 15:06

@DeltaG

Nor answering coz you're stumped, and backed into a corner!!!

PMSL!

Lweji · 09/07/2018 15:06

You could have put a warning that James fucking Corden was in that clip

Do more people hate James Corden than they hate England?

chrisinthesun · 09/07/2018 15:07

NOT answering !!!

DeltaG · 09/07/2018 15:08

@chrisinthesun

Yes love, that's it 🤣🤣 Off you pop now

ElBurroSinNombre · 09/07/2018 15:09

@roses
@chris
@Delta

Take a chill pill guys.
I think everything that could have been said about SAHMs vs working mums has been said. Move on. This has been an interesting thread about perceptions of English identity - can we go back to talking about that?
