It's not coming home. Who ever said England is home? It makes us look idiotic to the rest of the world. Someone on the radio said they really believe England is going to win this year. The rest of the world must be pissing themselves looking at England cheering over such a mediocre team and having such delusions of grandeur.

It also seems to make people behave like hooligans. I've seen some crazy driving before the matches start, and people were making noise until the early hours last night.

It's just a game! We never get this excited about the olympics, Wimbledon or even Rugby.

I don't like football day to day but I always watch the world cup.

Let people enjoy celebrating a very successful national team. They are a source of national pride and "it's coming home" is just a way of joining in and celebrating. I'm very very excited! I don't understand why it would annoy anyone it will be over soon. Some people seem to resent celebrating England, no one can deny this team is absolutely fantastic.

I hate miserable people. Whether you care about football or not plenty of other people do. Let them enjoy it.

There are plenty of things that I don't care about that are constantly rammed down my throat - the royal family. Love Island. I don't begrudge other people enjoying them.

Honestly I wish the Lemon Faces would just pipe down. Once every four years for about a week you have to deal with it because we always get knocked out and this is the first time in almost thirty we've got anywhere close, I think it's really mean spirited and bordering on spiteful to sneer at people and try to make them feel small and stupid over something they're getting so much joy and pride out of.

Fuck, I'm a Brit living in the Caribbean and even I love hearing "it's coming home..." makes me all puffed up with pride! And I absolutely loathe football, I only started watching the World Cup about 53 minutes into the Colombia v England game. And frankly even then I had no idea who any of them were (except Gareth Southgate!)

I've got to have something fun being married to a scot who supported Sweden and two sons who have zero interest in football beyond wanting "the yellow team to win".

But off the back of today's victory, I'm taking Wednesday afternoon off to go and watch it in the local sports pub with me Yorkshire mate Julie.

I apologise for hypocrite, but if you can't stand to see others enjoyment of something, I really don't have the words.

I don't actually feel it is "being rammed down our throats". As I said before, me and DH both hate football and we have managed to avoid almost all of it (I watched the penalties the other night).

I agree with posters who say it's only every 4 years. Soaps are on almost every night and I often seem to read things about the East Enders actors or see one of them on tv. I keep hearing about Danny Dire and his daughter (also imaginatively named Danni).

I have sky tv so plenty of other things to watch. Even if you don't have sky there are other channels to watch or a dvd.
