Isn't it contagious like that??
I thought they had to be dried out.
What about people with compromised immune systems or very small babies.
She was with a friend buying sweets, not urgent!! Wtf!!
It is contagious like that isn't it?

It’s not for you to decide either, Aussie!

sausagerollsontheside · 04/07/2018 20:21

Aussie you sound a bit mad

OP posts:
QOD · 04/07/2018 20:21

Alrighty then @Alphabravo

I’ll let her mum know. 🙄

AussieOzborn · 04/07/2018 20:40

So what is the problem here? If you've been vaccinated against chickenpox then you won't catch it, and if you haven't been vaccinated then you can get it from virtually anyone and anywhere, and a little kid with chickenpox in Tesco is not gonna make a big difference.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 04/07/2018 20:49

Because you can only get it from virtually anyone and everywhere because halfwits go out when they’re contagious, Aussie!
Seriously, just how dim are you?

AussieOzborn · 04/07/2018 20:51

lama then get yourself and your children vaccinated instead of cursing those who have it! Simples. Problem solved.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 04/07/2018 20:52

We are vaccinated. Doesn’t make some of the idiots on this thread any less idiotic.

AussieOzborn · 04/07/2018 20:54

lama. You are vaccinated, great! Then what is your problem?

Clandestino · 04/07/2018 20:54

@Phosphorus - I had chicken pox when I was a child. I also have decreased immunity to chicken pox, i.e. I could get it again potentially. Considering I have plenty of other health issues including fibromyalgia, it wouldn't be exactly a walk in the park. So please, don't give us the shit about the natural immunity lasting forever, because it doesn't, not even with the natural acquired disease. If you don't believe me, go and get yourself educated.
People who believe that chicken pox or measles parties are OK should get a brain transplant because there's no help for them in their current situation.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. How do you think someone is going to catch chicken pox from a child by walking past them in a supermarket?

Crunchymum · 04/07/2018 21:02

Can you tell me more about the "ill old lady" OP. The one you seem to have diagnosed as immumocompressed.

I get your point, but you need to cut the BS.

KatharinaRosalie · 04/07/2018 21:02

Of course you can catch it by walking past someone. It's an airborne disease.

AussieOzborn · 04/07/2018 21:02

Haribols it's been stated before that the virus is already present BEFORE the spots and other symptoms appear, so if you don't catch it from Tesco kid you can still catch it from someone who doesn't appear to have it yet.
Btw declaring that a random little kid covered in spots has the pox is a tad too early because it could have been anything else...

Phosphorus · 04/07/2018 21:03

People seem to be having difficulty with the concept of a majority.

You can catch chickenpox more than once, you can catch it if you are vaccinated. Most people don't.

For the vast majority of people it is harmless but uncomfortable, hence parents wanting their children exposed/vaccinated young.

A pox party is just exposing a kid to someone with the virus. Not sitting around with cake and party hats.

For most kids it makes perfect sense for the first exposure to be at a young age, rather than risk catching it for the first time as an adult.

glintandglide · 04/07/2018 21:05

Not likely though is it? www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/infections/how-do-you-catch-chickenpox/

How come we've come this far with this degree of stupidity

We are circumventing the survival of the fittest philosophy.

People cannot stay in for over 7 days isolated

Yes it’s not difficult to stay in, or around your house.

This is a crazy thread. Chicken pox is a mild illness. The NHS don't even bother to vaccinate against it. It's much better to get it younger, so Idon't know what all the hysteria is about chicken pox parties, etc. You know your kid's going to get it at some stage, right? Probably at school. It's OK! Calm the tits.

Crunchymum · 04/07/2018 21:08

This vile thread should be deleted. To berate a mum for taking her kid with chickenpox to Tesco is nasty. She probably had nobody to look after the kid so she took him/her. So what? But if you learn that she left the kid home alone while she popped into Tesco then you will berate her for that, you disgusting pack of hyenas.
You can get the chickenpox virus virtually from anywhere, the bus, the shops, restaurants... you name it. I got chickenpox when I was about 30 and not a single soul around me that time had chickenpox so I must have gotten it only god knows where. And I was fine, apart from being very sleepy for about 2 days and no appetite for about 3-4 days

Bejesus!!! I am lost for words.
