To be mad that some woman took her infected child to Tesco covered in fresh chicken pox?

Isn't it contagious like that??
I thought they had to be dried out.
What about people with compromised immune systems or very small babies.
She was with a friend buying sweets, not urgent!! Wtf!!
It is contagious like that isn't it?

sausageroll. Who was wheezing in a wheelchair now?
I can't keep up with your elaborate story..

glintandglide · 04/07/2018 21:14

It’s not just money, it’s money for something that is overwhelmingly a minor illlness. My friend has been working on it for public health England.

KatharinaRosalie · 04/07/2018 21:16

are people really not bothering to read any of the thread? Several posters have said that for them or their DC chicken pox would certainly not be a mild childhood disease, nothing to worry about. so 2 options - either a parent stays home with their poxy child for a few days, or those people can't go out for their entire life.

Please think about the staff who work in these shops too. We probably come into closer contact with customers. I am on immunosuppressants and another of my colleagues is having chemo (I've worked with several colleagues that have worked during chemo). We really can't chance being exposed to chicken pox.

There is a troll on this thread...

Tink1990 · 04/07/2018 21:26

Oh gosh, I woulda walked out of there! Confused

PramCush · 04/07/2018 21:28

But the NHS say it's more cost effective to not vaccinate BECAUSE it is considered a mild illness. If it were serious, it would not be cost effective for people to have it. It largely just causes discomfort. There are some insane people on here - calm down, you/your kid/everyone will probably get chicken pox at some stage!

PramCush · 04/07/2018 21:30

I mean, a cold is also harmful to immunocompromised people. Are you going to remain housebound while you have a cold? Of course not!

Try to apply the same logic here - in what way is it different? A cold is considered a mild illness, which could be very serious or even fatal for the immunocompromised.

Fairyliz · 04/07/2018 21:30

Can I ask how many of you drive to the supermarket?
According to the AA 5000 children are killed or injured in road accidents each year. That's just children I have no idea of the numbers of adults.

So perhaps we should all stop using cars after all none of use would like to be responsible for injuring a child,

Why is one risk acceptable and another not?

Belle12345 · 04/07/2018 21:31

I think it's SELFISH to expose chicken pox in public places end of , think of others

kitchenrollinrollinrollin · 04/07/2018 21:33

I mean, a cold is also harmful to immunocompromised people.

Very disingenuous and selfish comment. Like you don't realise that if a cold is harmful, chickenpox is exponentially more dangerous.

Grow up pram.

RayneDance · 04/07/2018 21:35

I 🤔 you should have told security guard as she is putting people and unborn babies at risk, those with immune etc.

At very least if she was desperate, in push chair under plastic rain buggy

Arthuritis · 04/07/2018 21:36

Dare say the majority of children that catch it will only have it mildly. But then there are others who are at risk of developing life threatening complications.

If it were a drunk driver on here saying that we were all being hysterical because the chance of them knocking someone down and killing them was only slim everyone would be up in arms. What if they said they had to go out in their car or their mental health would be at risk? Still no excuse for such selfish behaviour.

If you have to go out surely you can go for a walk in a fairly isolated place. You don't have to go shopping in a supermarket.

PramCush · 04/07/2018 21:36

I genuinely don't see the difference. I don't need to grow up, thanks, whereas many on here need to calm down about a minor illness. Lots of things are a problem for the immunocompromised. Chickenpox isn't a particularly dangerous illlness. Best to get it while you're young.

kikibo · 04/07/2018 21:37

Bl**dy hell, quit the hysterics. Chicken pox is not airborne. It only gets transmitted through contact with bodily fluids like saliva, by droplets from sneezing or coughing and by touching the blisters.

As for the 'ill old lady', she'll probably be alright as her parents wouldn't have been in hysterics about chicken pox and she's likely had it. So she's protected.

Itchytights · 04/07/2018 21:38

Selfish inconsiderate pigs.

I am in full agreement with you op.

People generally don’t give a flying fuck these days.

This is why illness is so rude in Schools/ Nurseries etc..

Makes me mad. How fucking selfish can someone be.

kitchenrollinrollinrollin · 04/07/2018 21:38

pram I promise you, you do need to grow up. Because you're evaluating a risk without having a clue what you're talking about. Because, it is obvious, you don't give a shit about the accuracy of your claims. That is so immature that yes, you need to grow up.

PramCush · 04/07/2018 21:38

As for the 'ill old lady', she'll probably be alright as her parents wouldn't have been in hysterics about chicken pox and she's likely had it. So she's protected.

Itchytights · 04/07/2018 21:38

rife not rude !! Grin

Arthuritis · 04/07/2018 21:39

@PramCush I am immunocompromised. I have been warned about the action that I need to take if exposed to chicken pox or the flu and I have to have flu and pneumonia vaccines. I have also been told to avoid certain foods. I haven't been warned about colds. Hth

kitchenrollinrollinrollin · 04/07/2018 21:39

Educate yourselves.

IsMyUserNameRubbish · 04/07/2018 21:40

OP wind your neck in, the woman mightn't have been able to shop on line, Broadband down, computer broke etc. The child needs to eat so stop with the righteous indignation and judging someone you know nothing about. I would never have done it, I'd have have kept my child in rested and relaxed but then again, I have a great husband who would've done the shopping when our children were young, this woman may be on here own. So stfu.

PramCush · 04/07/2018 21:40

Kitchen! Wow! Calm down and get a bit of perspective. I hold a doctorate. It's OK, leave these decisions to the big girls and boys (like the NHS...)
