A woman has told me off for yawning in IKEA?!

There I am, wandering around the plant section with my friend. I'm knackered today, having had 2 hours sleep, and I yawned with my hand over my mouth, not making a noise.

A lady was opposite me in the aisle and came over with her big trolly and said to me "other people are shopping here, you know"

I thought I was blocking something she wanted to get to and said "oh sorry I'll move" and I did move, to which she replied "no for gods sake, I meant about the yawning. Can you not save that for at home"

I laughed, she tutted at her husband/partner/male friend and then they both flounced away!

So, AIBU for yawning discreetly in IKEA?Grin

It's the height of indiscretion, I mean really, how could you Hmm?!

SharronNeedles · 30/06/2018 20:27

Err hello?? Are you me?

IWantMyHatBack · 30/06/2018 20:28

How DARE you! Shock😂

Sparklesocks · 30/06/2018 20:28

People are SO WEIRD

AlexaC · 30/06/2018 20:29

What?! Some people are strange! If it was unreasonable to yawn outside the home, I’d literally never leave! Not only am I tired a lot but I am terrible for infectious yawning! Even reading and replying has made me yawn multiple times!

silkpyjamasallday · 30/06/2018 20:30

YANBU, she sounds batshit. I think the heat sends people a bit bonkers. I had a guy come in at work shout at me, apoplectic with rage, and then threated to sue us for politely informing him we couldn’t have children in the venue at the time he arrived. Crazy.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 30/06/2018 20:30

Dirty bastard

JenBarber · 30/06/2018 20:30

Yes, YABU.

That's what the beds are for. Duh!

sparklepops123 · 30/06/2018 20:32

Are you seriously supposed to wait til you get home?! You should of farted in response, preferably to a tune 😮

purpleme12 · 30/06/2018 20:33

Weird. Some people have strange opinions! I knew someone who thinks you shouldn't sneeze or blow your nose in public!

Sheldonoscopy · 30/06/2018 20:33

I wanna hear her side
‘She wasn’t just yawning, she farted on the pillowcases and a bit of shit came out when she was midyawn’

NoNotheresnolyrics · 30/06/2018 20:33

You selfish cow 😂😂😂😂

LemonadePockets · 30/06/2018 20:33

Was you silent yawning while naked?

Save it for home ffs, what a thing to say!

KellyBailey · 30/06/2018 20:34

IKEA really does bring out the batshit in people doesn't it.

rollingonariver · 30/06/2018 20:34

Where do people on mumsnet find these people?!? I've never had this kind of thing happen to me even if I was doing something actually rude.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 30/06/2018 20:34

I love your username !

rollingonariver · 30/06/2018 20:34

I mean obviously IKEA ...

TruJay · 30/06/2018 20:34

You scoundrel you!
I was in Ikea today too, if it was the same one and I had heard I would have joined you in laughing too, how bizarre some folk are.

MrsMozart · 30/06/2018 20:35

How so very Dare You?!

Don't you know yawning is something that only certain people do?

liverbird10 · 30/06/2018 20:37

She's insane.

kaytee87 · 30/06/2018 20:37

What a nutter! I can see the point if you were sneezing all over food or something, yawning is not a private activity, especially if you cover your mouth. I'm the type of person that wishes people would blow their nose in the bathroom as well.

itsBritneyBeach · 30/06/2018 20:37

@AlonsoTigerHeart I'm deeply ashamed of myself Blush

@sparklepops123 I couldn't bring myself to snap and fart, even in a tune! Grin

@Sheldonoscopy how the fuck did you see through my side of the story?! Wink

@stopfuckingshoutingatme thank you, and you! I should have used it when I got brutally attacked in IKEA Grin

I'm guessing you didn't cover your mouth. People seem to have stopped doing that these days.
