A woman has told me off for yawning in IKEA?!

There I am, wandering around the plant section with my friend. I'm knackered today, having had 2 hours sleep, and I yawned with my hand over my mouth, not making a noise.

A lady was opposite me in the aisle and came over with her big trolly and said to me "other people are shopping here, you know"

I thought I was blocking something she wanted to get to and said "oh sorry I'll move" and I did move, to which she replied "no for gods sake, I meant about the yawning. Can you not save that for at home"

I laughed, she tutted at her husband/partner/male friend and then they both flounced away!

So, AIBU for yawning discreetly in IKEA?Grin

maybe she's heard people say that yawning is infectious and actually believes that infections are spread by yawning??

I have yawned in public before but I'm very discreet
But I have never been to an Ikea
I now know not to mix the 2.

We're just leaving the house to go to IKEA. Am desperately hoping for a similar nosy woman so I can come at her with a devastatingly witty rejoinder.

The best I have so far is 'Why don't you, uh, save your FACE for at home!?' followed by a close second, 'Your mum!'.

itsBritneyBeach · 01/07/2018 10:44

@MadeleineMaxwell if she calls you rude in retaliation, don't forget "I know you are but what am I?"

It's a classic, fool proof way to win any confrontation.

A lady shouted at six month old DS last week for having the nerve to LAUGH in Ikea Shock

I think Ikea should have a section of padded cells some shoppers can sit in and run at the walls till they calm down!

I hope you snapped and farted

You're nicer than me OP, I would have told her to FOAD.

Since having a baby I find all my patience goes to her and my husband with none leftover for twatty strangers.
