To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

Neither ill nor particularly overweight, btw. My blood pressure drops when I overheat, though, even with plenty of fluids, and I am perimenopausal which definitely makes it worse.

Clionba · 24/06/2018 20:15

28c where I am, going up to 30 tomorrow. It's fine if you don't have to do anything! Not so great if you have to be formally dressed and at work!

cattyxxx · 24/06/2018 20:19

No you are not being unreasonable op. I live Spain (partner got a job out here so we moved) it is 31 degrees at 9pm tonight and I'm laid on the bed after nearly just passing out. I look forward to the winter too although it usually only drops to 18 but at least that is bearable. The thing that annoys me the most is when I say "it's too hot" and people say " i know it's lovely isn't it " sometimes I feel like I'm living in the earths core 😂

cattyxxx · 24/06/2018 20:22

Just to add I'm not overweight but I do have a chronic illness so maybe that doesn't help

Martinimonster · 24/06/2018 20:23

I hate it too. I'm a postie and I come home feeling ill every fucking day. The water heats up in the van and I can't escape the heat. Dd is a moaning whinge in the heat too.
Would be ace by a pool and Sun lounger but otherwise it's awful.

FurryDice · 24/06/2018 20:24

I'm consoling myself that we're now past the solstice and in a couple of months we'll be heading back into autumn again

That was exactly what I thought on the solstice, @DuggeeHugs. Great minds, etc.

Come on over to the thread in chat, OP, you’ll find kindred spirits. Oh and YANBU

flippinthebird · 24/06/2018 20:32

YABU Shock

ColourfulOrangex · 24/06/2018 21:09

Agree with you OP I hate the heat, it's suppose to be hotter this next week though Sad

holasoydora · 24/06/2018 21:13

YANBU! I really struggle in heat.

madmomma · 24/06/2018 21:20

I'm fat and pale with low blood pressure and hayfever so I'm not feeling fab physically in the heat but gosh th the mood-lifting effects are fabulous, and after the awful, never-ending winter I'm really not complaining

bobstersmum · 24/06/2018 21:31

I like sunny weather but not hot weather unless I'm abroad with access to the pool and sea!

Doingreat · 24/06/2018 21:48

Dreading the heatwave next week. I don't cope well at all. So YANBU.

However I also struggle with the cold in winter. And I live in London where it neither gets too hot nor too cold. Sigh

It's a taboo almost to complain about the summer though. You're meant to wait for it longingly all year then fling yourself into enjoying it with abandon.

Proseccoagain · 24/06/2018 21:51

I have lived in Cyprus, Singapore and tropical Australia. The heat here is nothing compared to those places.

IceBearRocks · 24/06/2018 21:56

We've just got back from Florida and I will never complain of being hot again!!!!!
We we're sweating pools...I've never sweated like that here and it's only 32...

keyboardkate · 24/06/2018 22:39

Heat is not the problem really, it is the relative humidity, you know the sweating and dripping part of it!

Sahara heat for example in Southern Spain is hot hot hot, but it is not debilitating really because there is very low humidity.

Amanduh · 24/06/2018 22:45

I agree with the humidity thing though. And people from far flung places and their ‘how do you think we survive its 38 here every day you’re idiots lol lol lol’ etc yes but we aren’t built for that weather and we don’t have air con or pools like you, twats!

northernlites · 24/06/2018 22:47

YABVVU
love this weather, embracing it, (just not entering the greenhouse in this heat!)
Also got let the tabloids have their day. How many times do they predict hottest/coldest summer/winter for decades?
Loads of times and they are never right, but they hit the jackpot this time Grin

KickAssAngel · 24/06/2018 23:00

I normally live in the US but am visiting my family here this week. Back home it's in the 40s (over 95 F) and this is beautiful - clear, sunny, light breeze. Just perfect.

gottachangethename1 · 24/06/2018 23:02

Unbearable hay fever
Sticky back of legs and neck
Noisy neighbourhood bbqs/parties in gardens all weekend.
Uncomfortable sleeping at night.
Eating ‘light foods’ like sodding salad.
All the reasons I long for autumn to arrive!

Nichelette · 24/06/2018 23:10

I'm grumpy too, but it's mostly because I can't get away from the heat. I live in 2nd floor flat in SE, newish build so very well insulated. Has been up to 27 in the flat today with curtains closed for quite some time. It's suffocating despite fans, and I unfortunately don't have a balcony either. I love the sun but prefer it when it's low 20s. Am really dreading this week as cooking/washing up makes it even hotter.

keyboardkate · 24/06/2018 23:15

Dry heat is great, humid heat is awful. There, I said it again!

mathanxiety · 25/06/2018 01:30

The thing that annoys me the most is when I say "it's too hot" and people say " i know it's lovely isn't it "

That is why I don't talk to my mum in Dublin about the weather any more. She doesn't understand why I find the oppressive heat and humidity unpleasant.

MouseholeCat · 25/06/2018 01:53

I'm in the US where we'll hit 37-40c this week, but it's bearable because we have ceiling fans, an ice maker in the fridge, an outdoor pool and everywhere is airconditioned.

When we lived in London out flat would hit 27c and take a whole week to cool down again. Couldn't really have the windows open overnight as we lived by a train line and under the flight path, plus the mix of pollen and air pollution triggered my asthma. It was miserable. Hated it with a passion!

FurryDice · 25/06/2018 04:46

Just to point out something so glaringly obvious I’m always shocked it needs pointing out.

If you live in a very hot country the set up for daily life is very different to the UK. Even in the US which we don’t tend to think of as tropical, they are PREPARED for hot weather with air con fitted as standard.

In the UK we still don’t seem to realise we need to be prepared for either Very hot or cold weather so that’s why we don’t deal with it very well.

Ffs.

cattyxxx · 25/06/2018 06:12

Amanduh
Not true I live in an old Spanish building no air con here and no pool !
