To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

It hasn't been hot enough for me yet. It 20c here today with a bit of sun. I want it to be at least 24c.

Bring on the sun and heat!

Oliversmumsarmy · 24/06/2018 16:57

I hate the cold weather and after the winter we have had, (my heating went on last August) it can stay this way for as long as possible. It is the only time I get things done.

cricketmum84 · 24/06/2018 17:02

Laid in my garden with an iced white wine in one hand and a magazine in the other. Happy happy me lazing around in the glorious heat whilst feeling it "necessary medical treatment" I have vit D deficiency so I need the sunshine :)

So many days in the UK are grey and dreary that the few sunny days we do get feel like a glorious treat. I don’t even do well in heat but blue skies and sunshine just make my spirits soar.

Planesmistakenforstars · 24/06/2018 17:08

I hate it too. It's 33 degrees in the shade outside now. I work outdoors and I'm dreading next week.

lljkk · 24/06/2018 17:11

I'm happy as Larry in the hot sun. Give me more, more, more!!

Wonkypalmtree · 24/06/2018 18:14

Me too, I am really nbthe douth east, parked in the sun earlier and it showed 35c on temperature gauge. We have massive windows, even with blinds closed all day it’s 30c in our bedroom. I am buying an air con tomorrow

StewPots · 24/06/2018 18:28

I usually detest summer - I get too hot too quick, feel light headed and unwell in even 21 temps, can't bear the crowds everywhere... the list goes on.

However!! This year, I've actually been enjoying the heat for some reason (and to me, current temps are hot!). I don't know why, I've just enjoyed getting out in the sun for once. I've been out all weekend, been making sure I'm hydrated an have access to shade and water where possible. I don't like just sitting sunbathing though - NDN lies in her garden for hours and I wonder how she can stand it :) I've also changed what I wear in summer, got more confident to show more skin so I guess that's helping.

I'm on an all day shift tomorrow and workplace is like being in an oven so I'll be dripping by 9am. Not looking forward to that at all.

LapdanceShoeshine · 24/06/2018 18:37

Sunny weather in May & June is so much more pleasant than in July & August. UV levels are extreme, because sun is at its highest & the air is so clear, but I’d still rather have it now than later on when it’s sticky & dusty.

(Also flies & wasps & night-time biters haven’t really got going yet either. It’s just perfect Smile)

HelenaDove · 24/06/2018 18:37

Social housing flat that is at least 5 degrees hotter than it is outside and loose skin where ive lost weight doesnt help either.

legolimb · 24/06/2018 18:39

No idea what the temp we here today but def hot. I love it.

Hate hate hate winter. Ugh- I get so miserable being cold, windswept and living in the dark.

Fortunately it works out for all of us we get all the seasons in the UK ( I'd be happier with summer all year round though)

MercuryInTransit · 24/06/2018 18:51

I like all the weather.
I lived at the equator for a few years and it got a bit boring there every day the same, with a 4pm downpour and muggy 30-35 degree heat. However the mugginess and heat cleared up my excema and fibromyalgia.

I think 28 dry heat is my favorite, if I have access to the sea, but I love the snow and the light of a cold blue sky winter of North America and Scandinavia.

I don’t mind the dreich rain and the haar, but I do have to admit when living in Scotland I did get a bit down in March after a long long dark cold wet winter.

It’s 23 degrees where I am and I’m loving it, I’m on hrt which helps tremendously this year. Last year I was a sweaty mess!

Lizzie48 · 24/06/2018 18:59

@MercuryInTransit Haha, sweaty mess, that sums up my life at the moment! I've just started using HRT patches, it's encouraging to know that they have worked for you. Smile

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/06/2018 19:17

I don't understand why people who moan about the heat, still insist on going out in it in shorts and tiny sleeveless tops, so the sun's beating down on their skin.

Unless you're also desperate for a tan, wear loose cotton or linen that keeps the sun off your skin. And a hat with a big brim.
Take a tip from the blokes in the Gulf - where it often gets to 45 deg plus in summer - they wear a long, loose white robe. The poor women traditionally wear black, which absorbs the heat rather than reflecting it.

DeadButDelicious · 24/06/2018 19:21

I hate the sun. I hate summer. I hate being too hot. I do not give a shiny shit if that makes me a 'misery'. Give me cold, dark weather any time. I cannot wait for winter.

midnightmisssuki · 24/06/2018 19:21

You can’t really win can you..... sunny - people complain it’s too hot. Winter - it’s too cold. Grin humans are strange creatures Smile

Kaykay06 · 24/06/2018 19:22

Stirling here and roasting even at 5 when I was doing dinner it was still hot, loved seeing the pure blue sky all day.

I’m not hugely keen on too much sun there’s no getting away from it, abroad most places have a/c so indoors it’s cool and lovely or a pool too to cool off in. I work in a hospital so it’s really awful in this heat.

Hope you cool down op, I have a lovely cool shower and leave my hair wet when too hot it’s bliss

Unfinishedkitchen · 24/06/2018 19:24

The top temp today was 25C and if you can’t cope with that then you must be quite ill or overweight. Humans with access to water and shade should be able to cope with 25C surely?

HelenaDove · 24/06/2018 19:31

Unfinished ive lost 10 stone and that has left me with loose skin around my stomach. No longer overweight but suffer just as much.

Someone always has to shoehorn a bit of fat shaming in though.

And flats get very hot. Anyone remember the Chalcots estate who got evacuated from their flats right after Grenfell? Well they are currently having corrective work done and they cant open their windows. Its boiling hot in there at the moment.

If animals were being treated in this way there would be prosecutions.

Mogleflop · 24/06/2018 19:33

I don't think it's the same people complaining about heat/cold!

Also from my excessive googling over the years, you don't have to be ill or fat to feel the heat, but yes of course there can be medical reasons for heat sensitivity, so do get it looked into if you need to. Some women might have thyroid issues or be going through the menopause.

Personally I'm very skinny but autistic, so probably "just" sensory processing disorders for me.

Mogleflop · 24/06/2018 19:34

(Also 25c will be the recorded temperatures in the shade - sit in the sun and it's hotter; move around and hotter still.)

LakieLady · 24/06/2018 19:55

According to my neighbour it was 23C here today. We live near the top of a hill and it's almost always breezy, which helps make it feel cooler. We were able to do a fair bit of work in the garden without breaking into a sweat, although we had to make sure we had plenty of beer to drink.

DuggeeHugs · 24/06/2018 19:55

YADNBU! Summer is the worst time of year.

I'm consoling myself that we're now past the solstice and in a couple of months we'll be heading back into autumn again

isseywithcats · 24/06/2018 19:58

Having just come back from a fantastic ride to scarborough on our motorbike (which ends up garaged for 6 months of the year due to cold weather) and having a lovely stroll down the prom in tee shirt and jeans YABU

PickAChew · 24/06/2018 20:06

Forecast a nice 20C, today. Ended up 25 and absolutely lathered after going for a walk. My parents' dog was none too pleased with the heat, either.
