To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

Can’t help but think if you’d rather not see people moaning about the weather, opening a thread entitled “To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having” is a fairly foolish option.

YADNBU

Direct sunlight combined with heat makes me feel really rough. I took a nice shady umbrella to sports day last week and am thinking about investing in one of these

Just been out for a fantastic, brisk lunchtime walk - glorious!!

Sitting back down to work with a cold coke & a magnum.....

What's not to love??

LoniceraJaponica · 25/06/2018 13:17

“I love the variety of our weather, but my favourite is a really really cold day, or really torrential rain.”

I think the main problem is the relentlessness of it sometimes. I live in South Yorkshire, and we truly did have a miserable, and very long winter – day after day of cold, damp, gloomy weather. My particular area is normally grey and damp in winter. We don’t enjoy many crisp, cold days that so many winter lovers romanticise about on here. If our winter was like that I wouldn’t mind it either. Low light levels really affect my mood, and coupled with poor eyesight I struggle through the darker months.

Then we had the beast from the East, not once, not twice, but three times!

cricketmum84 · 25/06/2018 13:19

I take it back... I'm too hot!!

ToothTrauma · 25/06/2018 13:24

Absolutely hate it but we get very little hot weather really so I don’t begrudge others who are enjoying it.

Wish I could trade mine for some extra winter tho Grin

TinkyWinky40 · 25/06/2018 13:50

I’m in the SE and my car temp reads 29.5 and it certainly feels hot out there!

I understand how you feel as I have a condition which is caused by sunlight, that said I love how the sunshine and clear blue skies make everything look so much better and improves the mood too.

Soubriquet · 25/06/2018 13:56

My poor Dh's asthma had been kicking off because of the heat Sad

I have to keep a close eye on him as his gets serious really quickly

CloudIllusions · 25/06/2018 13:56

We are not set up for hot weather. I was on a train yesterday with no air con and it was unbearable (and smelly!).

LighthouseSouth · 25/06/2018 13:59

@Soubriquet

yes, mine gets bad if it's below 5 or above 25 - but that's in London - in a cleaner air place it would be better.

I try to run outside when I can but it's indoor workouts for the foreseeable. I feel for him, fecking hate having asthma. I can't offer flowers though as hayfever makes my asthma worse!

Soubriquet · 25/06/2018 14:01

Bless you! He's the same

We have our front door and back door open at the moment to create a nice cross breeze

derxa · 25/06/2018 14:18

Normally I would agree but this winter and spring has been beyond hideous for us farmers and our animals. Just spent a lovely week at the Royal Highland Show basking in sunshine.

IslaBoots · 25/06/2018 14:35

Are only English people allowed on this thread? Or can Welsh posters say that Its too hot in Wales too? Confused

RoseWhiteTips · 25/06/2018 14:42

🤣

RoseWhiteTips · 25/06/2018 14:44

It is quite an “exclusive” thread. Lol
Nothing changes. I can only assume the OP does the English means British thing.

I love...
that the washing dries so quickly
it's perfectly reasonable of me not to cook, vacuum or anything else that requires much energy.
that it's OK for me to lounge around in the shade with my book then go for a dip in the local outdoor pool later.

Sorry if smug. No dependent DCs at home :)

KNain · 25/06/2018 16:09

I hate cold weather and I hate winter.

I will never ever moan about the heat, be that in this country, abroad or in an office. I feel this entitles me to moan as much as I like when I'm too cold - whether that's outside in January or just because someone in the office has the air con on too high!

letmepeeinpeace · 25/06/2018 16:13

27 degrees here! I'm so hot it's horrible

baxterboi · 25/06/2018 16:17

It's 28 just south of Croydon and our office is an old converted barn. Indoor temp is 36.

I could almost cry!

cricketmum84 · 25/06/2018 16:35

Car temp is telling me 31 in Yorkshire. Literally can't breathe for it! I am so ready for a G&T when I get home!

Mississippilessly · 25/06/2018 16:51

30 weeks pregnant. Absolutely hating it.

user7680 · 25/06/2018 16:56

30 degrees in Manchester sunbathing & loving it!!!!!

bumblingbovine49 · 25/06/2018 16:58

28deg here at the moment in the SE. I quite like it. Am waiting for the bus home from work. As long as it's a bit shady - which it is in the bus shelter-I feel fine.

It really is not worse here than in holiday. I regularly visit Italian cities in the North of Italy in the summer and that is.unbearable as it is often over 40deg there.

Storm4star · 25/06/2018 17:01

I have really struggled to get much work done today. I have a headache from the heat. My hands are all sweaty making it difficult to type. I work from home and have been dressed in far less than would be decent in an office! But I'm consoling myself with the fact that it is better than being stuck in the office and I at least don't have to travel for an hour on the stifling underground to get home! This weather is really not fun :(

IIIustriousIyIIlogical · 25/06/2018 17:17

Work done, off to go for a paddle up the river to the pub!!

May it never end...
