To hate this English Summer and the boiling hot weather we’re having?

It’s so hot! Appallingly so. I am in the lightest of t shirts and yet still sweating. I love the sun on holiday but hate it in this country, it seems more a blistering kind of heat, disgustingly so. Hope the summer ends very soon! Bring back Autumn/Winter!!

NC because people display negativity to those that dare say they hate the sun

Currently 26 degrees here. Sat in the garden with a chilled white wine Grin

Port1ajazz · 25/06/2018 17:32

It's not the heat it's the humidity that makes it so uncomfortable ! I do sympathise with you , I melting as I write this
😬

Mummadeeze · 25/06/2018 17:34

YABVU! It is so seldom we get to be able to go out in Summer clothes and not freeze! I love a heat wave!

Scotland32 · 25/06/2018 17:34

You are lucky if that’s all you have to moan about. It’s glorious. Enjoy it!

Pinga · 25/06/2018 17:35

This weather makes me feel really ill in multiple ways. Heat stroke, sun stroke, sun burn, insect bites, lethargy and cant sleep at night. Just ugh.

Im just not designed to cope with this weather.

Chickencellar · 25/06/2018 17:36

Fantastic day today should be another nice day tomorrow. Out in the garden with a drink.

Alicatz66 · 25/06/2018 17:40

I love the light evenings .. I have more energy... I hate jumpers ... love the bees and flowers so I'm quite happy about it .. I will start my moaning when I have to get ice off my car, it's horrible and dark, everyone has colds, and shitty winter is here again !! Winter was so long this year so we deserve a bit of sunshine ☀️

Mogleflop · 25/06/2018 17:41

It's not all I have to moan about and I'm not lucky, thanks so much Scotland.

Seriously - if you can't bear other people having a different opinion on the effects of weather, and talking on an online forum then please. Fuck. Off.

(Yes, this is heat induced rage by the way. I want to scream. I'm so sick of autism. Lying under a wet towel in front of a fan and only just feeling like I can breathe again).

ktp100 · 25/06/2018 17:41

Totally with you! I'm such a summer Grinch!

It is rubbish to hate things most people love but then Xmas haters do my head in so I suppose I do summer-loving folks heads in when i moan, too.

I have photosensitivity, squinty-faced white eyebrows and hay fever so it's just not for me BUT you are so right, other countries have much more pleasurable summer's than our sweaty ones. Booooooo British summeeerrrrrrrs Grin

simiisme · 25/06/2018 17:51

YANBU. I hate it.
Stay indoors most of the time, wishing I had air conditioning.
In the winter you can add extra layers, thermal underwear etc.
Once you've removed all your clothes and are STILL fecking hot, what can you do? Also, nudity is frowned on in most workplaces and I wouldn't inflict my naked body on the world.
Thinking of moving to Iceland. Or working in Iceland. In a freezer.

crunchymint · 25/06/2018 17:59

Agree. Spent weekend outside with friends. Now it is Monday I am inside on the cool again. Blissful.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 25/06/2018 18:05

I feel your pain. I work in central London in an office with no air conditioning. We sometimes get sent home when the temperature in the office reaches 35 degrees. And yes we have fans and the blinds down. Currently on a packed train home which is equally hideous.

For the record I don't mind the cold so didn't moan about the winter.

Will shortly be in a pub garden with a cold glass of something ...!

MibsXX · 25/06/2018 18:11

Try working in a kitchen for 8 hours a day in this heat..... NOT a lot of fun I can assure you

Polarbearflavour · 25/06/2018 18:22

I never know what to wear once it hits 25c. I work in a grade II listed building so we have a fan and the sash windows open but it can get stuffy.

I normally wear dresses and leggings. Got my chaff free big pants out so I can go bare legged and avoid the dreaded chub rub!

Shoulddobetta123 · 25/06/2018 18:25

28C here in the south!
Working with young children. I'm struggling. Find it exhausting. City heat is overwhelming

Smudge100 · 25/06/2018 18:27

Is your thyroid ok? Just asking because if your thyroid is underactive you will be very sun-sensitive (and your GP will be seriously uninterested, especially if your post-menopausal).

AnnabelC · 25/06/2018 18:41

27 degrees here earlier. South West.

Icklepickle101 · 25/06/2018 18:43

29 degrees here at 4 o clock. If I wasn’t 9 months pregnant I’d be sunbathing in my garden with a glass of wine Grin

Thesearepearls · 25/06/2018 18:45

Checked my diary this morning

Not one single client meeting. Plenty of calls, no meetings.

With some glee, I clicked WFH (working from home) and I have been enjoying the sun for most of the day. I have done the hours. Just instead of working 12 hours I have worked 7 intermittently.

Woohoo. More sun. We need more sun.

bruffin · 25/06/2018 18:46

32 here in herts at 6pm according to the car. Bareable in the office with a desk fan, but too hot on the train

jane1956 · 25/06/2018 18:56

we get 8 + months of grey horrible weather and the minute we get more than 2 days sun people complain, really annoying

Avoid the thread then. Hardly rocket science Grin

Thesearepearls · 25/06/2018 19:15

comes the sun

let's score some vitamin d - get those rays in

julesmumoftwins · 25/06/2018 19:18

I came back from a friends a couple of hours ago, initially the car said 36 degs but settled at 31 degs. It’s glorious!!! My back garden is very secluded and south facing, the temperature there when I came in was 36 degs 🌞 I’m in the Midlands!

Jammysod · 25/06/2018 19:18

I'm with you, I can't stand it. Plus my hayfever is driving me up the wall. Roll on autumn!
