Boy/ girl sibling suggestions to go with my daughters name, ‘Ophelia’. Quite like ethereal/ regal names. Ophelia reminds me of a fairy queen. That’s along the lines I’m going for. Thankyou 🤗

it seems so odd to name your child after a tragic character who has a terrible boyfriend, goes mad and then commits suicide. What will she think when she sees the play for the first time??

I went to school with a girl called Ophelia. She constantly got asked “can I have Ophelia tits” through high school and I still love the name! I liked that and Octavia.

rosesandflowers1 · 22/06/2018 15:14

Some other Shakespearean names:

Girl: Cordelia, Regan, Violet, Portia, Desdemoma, Miranda, Katherina, Juliet, Rosaline, Beatrice, Hero (you could use that for a boy too)

Boy: Lysander, Othello, Oberon (as I think someone suggested), Romeo, Fleance, Banquo, Caliban, Iago

Maybe do some research though. And think about it. I love the name Romeo but I bet he'd get teased.

Hero is a bit of a wet lettuce and Regan is a villain. Othello murders his wife... Iago manipulated him into doing it.

Just maybe read the plays beforehand is what I'm saying Grin

Ophelia Payne, Love.

rosesandflowers1 · 22/06/2018 15:15

Should be Desdemona, sorry Blush

StaySafe · 22/06/2018 15:15

The only Ophelia I have ever met had a brother called Hugo. Viola, Olivia and Sebastian all go well (12th night) my DS1 had a classmate called Fabian, but he was a genuinely very posh.
