To hate the light nights? (Title edited by MNHQ)

I cannot abide this time of year. I've been up since 3am because of the light mornings and I hate the light nights. Everyone else seems to love them but I want the cold, dark, pitch black at 3pm days back.

It's light until 11pm and light again at 3am!

AIBU to think the winter is much preferable to the misery of June light nights?

When I was younger anything. I'm 46 now. I'm not very confident with my body, so I cover it up and I think that makes me even hotter. I know it shouldn't matter how you look but it's how I feel.

So, Grumpy maxi dresses, lightweight trousers and lightweight long sleeved tops or shirts.

It's a myth that wearing skimpy clothes makes you cooler.

You must be in Scotland.

I love the light in summer days, I just wish it would let me sleep beyond 5.30 (and I have blackout curtains)

I do agree there is something lovely about dark winter evenings.

I love the light evenings but keep waking up about 5 30 am(Dont have to get up till 8 00am so very annoying.!.Problem then keeping awake next day/evening seem to fall asleep in front of TV then cant watch favourite shows!

I prefer the dark nights of winter and I also love rainy or snowy or dark days. Ihave thought about moving to Seattle or Scandinavia.

MN always seems to have a disproportionate number of summer haters.

I find the long dark nights make me feel slightly depressed. Also, I hate driving to and from work in the dark.

Me too

I love a walk round the streets in the dark, I hate going out walking when it's daylight, I feel all exposed and vulnerable. At night it's dark and cold and I can stride about not bothering anyone.

I can't sleep when it's light and being in Scotland it stays light till about midnight then the sun rises again about 4 am. Does my nut in!

I have a friend who swears by using an eye mask - we live in Scotland, so it gets light very early here, and she used to struggle to sleep once the sun was up until she tried a mask.

I’m kind of with you OP. I do love the dark nights, curled up on the sofa with a lit fire. I have serious FOMO when the nights are light and end up spending more money going out etc. When the nights are light I can’t stand being in watching tv etc.

I would like someone to arrange for dawn to start at 6:30am, full daylight by 7am, dusk to commence at 7pm, and full dark at 8am, all year around. Not much to ask.

I wake with the first light, so have to wear an eye mask, I love that bloody thing. Best £3 I ever spent. Get a good one and it'll be comfy too. Mine is a soap and glory one with a wide elastic so it's comfy.

The sheer thought of the next few months of heat and light nights fills me with dread.i absolutely hate it. I hate everything about summer.... the creepy crawlies have started to appear as well. Why would anyone enjoy being to hot is beyond me!!!

Because I live somewhere that doesn't usually get very hot Smile

I can line dry my washing, my solar panels mean that we save on electricity, I can drive to and from work in daylight, I don't need the heating on. We eat more salad and uncooked foods. Summer is just cheaper all round.

Love the drying on the line and kids being able to play out but I find the light exhausting. My eyes get weary of it and my anxiety is also worse in the summer.
