that Topsy and fucking Tim makes me feel like a terrible parent

Just that. The children are perfect, house is clean and tidy, parents are patient and calm, and everything is just so fucking NICE. Why doesn't anyone ever shout? Why is the mother always dressed impeccably and looks like she's had 12hours sleep and a blow dry? Why is there not an episode where mummy calls daddy a useless fucker for not putting the bin out?

Disclaimer-I have PMT

Er, you know it isn't real? Watch In The Night Garden instead, I think it's the tomliboos who lose their kids most episode.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 20/06/2018 06:44

I could watch in the night garden all day. Blissful. I just want there to be a topsy and Tim episode that's a bit more like reality in my house, which is generally chaotic and shouty

MuddyForestWalks · 20/06/2018 06:48

Isn't that Eastenders? Grin

If they do a t&t based on my morning, it would have the mother woken up at 5am knackered, and searching the house for the source of the funny smell while the toddler scatters colouring pencils everywhere.

MakeMineATwin · 20/06/2018 06:56

I agree op. I used to watch that and wish I lived with them Grin I've given up on that show now though. It's too happy for me.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 20/06/2018 06:58

Well I'm sorry but I don't know what your watching because from the episodes I've watched T&T are little shits & the dad is possibly the biggest flange I've ever seen on tv.

Also the house is literally filled with crap, surely nobody has that much clutter on display??

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 20/06/2018 07:03

They are insufferable little shits but they always seem to do as they're told and they don't fight and cause each other injuries or find endless humour in farting and burping. The dad is a useless knobber. How can the mum smile like that all day?!

OP posts:
Pommes · 20/06/2018 07:06

Seriously OP, would you really want to live with a voiceover repeating "And then Mum said...." BEFORE you even had a chance to say it? No thank you, not me.

Haudyerwheesht · 20/06/2018 07:06

I hate Topsy and Tim although tbf their house is never tidy.

Tipsy and Tim are definitely not well behaved though - remember the birthday episode where they lose the balloon and drop the cakes? Their mother is clearly off her face on Valium as I would need to be to put up with them, their pathetic father and their neurotic granny.

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 20/06/2018 07:08

Ahhh to live in a house with no ‘she looked at me, he’s breathing near me’ and other sibling nonsense

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 20/06/2018 07:09

No to the voiceover, but I would love to be so endlessly and patiently thrilled with everything my children say or do, even when they are being aggravating.

Yes why do they never start fighting about who sits where on the sofa

Ah the source of most child-based arguments in my house

IsaidMrDarcynotArsey · 20/06/2018 07:16

How can the Mum smile like that all day ? - pharmaceuticals !

Laiste · 20/06/2018 08:04

Actually, if you look closely, that house was filthy! There's bits of wall missing, gouges ect, the paper's peeling and the corner at the bottom of the stairs ect is black where dirty hands have rubbed round it for ages.

It was a real house, filled with furniture and used as a set. Filming stopped there ages ago. On a thread here once someone found the real house on Right Move and put a link. You could see it was the same house but it looked miles better! The dirty Odells had long gone Grin

EsmesBees · 20/06/2018 08:09

The one thing I like about T&T is the state of their house. There is an episode where they move in and talk about decorating, then about 10 episodes later there are still paint sample patches on the walls.

Boredandtired · 20/06/2018 08:33

Topsy and Tim is horrendous. I can't understand why my children can bear to watch it, one requested it last night. The children are annoying, the dad is weird and the mum is way too much. It's now rivalled by Waffle the Wonderdog. Both on the verge of being banned.

Laiste · 20/06/2018 08:55

The dad is weird. And who wants MIL randomly opening the door and sending her dog in to run around knocking everything over and jump on the furniture?! Grrrr.

DD4 loves it though ...

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 20/06/2018 08:57

They're not perfect! Their Mother had an affair with Max Branning!

MilkyCoffeeAndSkinnySyrup · 20/06/2018 08:58

And Waffle the Wonder dog is bloody shit! How dare they? NOTHING will ever compare to Come Outside! Pippin was my absolute favourite.

Papergirl1968 · 20/06/2018 12:23

I hate to break it to those of you who are parents of young children, if you hope this hell will be over soon, but dd2 has just turned 14 and has only just stopped watching Topsy and Tim.
Admittedly she is immature for her age (although she’s now heavily into Love Island) but when she was 11 or 12 Topsy and Tim was one of her favourite programmes...

AhhhhThatsBass · 20/06/2018 12:29

There's more than one of them? My DD brought one home from the nursery, (they are at the farm) and I found it annoying. It also irritated me that they are referred to as The Twins. I thought we don't do that anymore? Identity issues and all that.
Anyway no YANBU.

AhhhhThatsBass · 20/06/2018 12:30

OMG it's a TV show too?! I thought you were referring to the books.

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 12:36

It's the epitome of the parenting 'ideal' that serves no purpose than to make us feel bad.
Chill. Stick some other shite on and have a cup of tea Grin

flamingofridays · 20/06/2018 12:36

tidy house? what have you been watching! I think it looks a right state most of the time.

I cannot bare it but it is 2yo ds' fave show at the moment sigh

hididdlyhoneighborino · 20/06/2018 12:39

Blush a right state? haha!
