Just that. The children are perfect, house is clean and tidy, parents are patient and calm, and everything is just so fucking NICE. Why doesn't anyone ever shout? Why is the mother always dressed impeccably and looks like she's had 12hours sleep and a blow dry? Why is there not an episode where mummy calls daddy a useless fucker for not putting the bin out?

I love t&t! When feeding my baby son I actively encouraged my 1 year old daughter to watch it. It was my treat! Tragic I know.

I particularly liked the faint sigh and eye roll that Mum displayed when the twins dropped the cupcakes. I’d obviously have been tearing my head off if that were me.

RideSallyRide76 · 23/06/2018 19:14

In the Topsy and Tim books didn't they adopt a toddler called Tansy? It have I invented that? I'd love to see Tansy the toddler thrown into the mix maybe then Mummy would shout? Grin

I fucking hate Topsy and Tim - I just know I wouldn't get on with the Mon who i think has a resting bitch face.

@Papergirl1968
You let your 'immature' 14 year old watch love island? Clutches pearls close to chest in horror

Papergirl1968 · 23/06/2018 20:04

I know, Flash.
One minute she’s 14 going on four, the next 14 going on 24. Typical teenager.
I think a lot of it is peer pressure to watch trash like Love Island. She’s permanently excluded from school so don’t have a huge amount in common anymore but Love Island is one thing she can talk to them about.

Papergirl1968 · 23/06/2018 20:05

Flash sorry, bold fail!

Amelialouisa · 23/06/2018 20:15

I'm in your boat Paper - my daughter was also permanently excluded ☹

I’m reading my old (published between 1978-1983) Topsy & Tim books to DD2(5) at the moment & she loves them. Tansy is in quite a few & their other adopted sibling Teddy.
We have to skim over a few things, such as Mummy dressing them up as Gypsies & darkening their skin with cocoa powder Hmm.
They are far more interesting than TV Topsy & Tim though!

CorvusUmbranox · 23/06/2018 20:31

Seriously OP, would you really want to live with a voiceover repeating "And then Mum said...." BEFORE you even had a chance to say it? No thank you, not me.

I wouldn’t mind my life having a voiceover if it was Derek Jacobi... [why is there no wistful face?]

TravellingFleet · 23/06/2018 20:31

Yes, I want to know why Tansy has been air-brushed out. We liked the books in our family because they were a family of three, like us.
