Yep, it's a long-running investigation, Lweji. This is just the most recent time Trump has been sued for fraudulent activities.

TheLastNigel · 20/06/2018 11:45

I can't stop thinking about this-those kids...the sheer cruelty of it.
I've written to my MP, I've written to Theresa May, I've donated and I'm planning on attending the Anti trump rally-the first time I will have protested anything since the Iraq invasion.what else can be done?

I'm just so angry that this is happening. Why is international political condemnation so non existent?

CheerfulYank · 20/06/2018 11:50

I can't handle Rep Cummings shakey voice

mackerella · 20/06/2018 11:54

On a lighter note, the State Department held a tone-deaf Facebook Live session yesterday about family travel hacks ... which went exactly as well as you would expect Grin

CheerfulYank - thank you for the link, now he is a good man. Why are there not more like him?

Me too. It's disgraceful, there is no moral leadership amongst the Heads of States who should be condemning him outright. I'm afraid it's because similar Fascism is on the rise in Europe, as well.

lettuceWrap · 20/06/2018 12:15

That video link of rep Cummings brought a lump to my throat. Hopefully many more elected officials will speak out.

ohmymimi · 20/06/2018 12:18

Lweji, that Trump Foundation accusation dates back to late 2016, so I assume the interim has been the investgation which resulted in the charges now brought on its completion.

'On September 13, Eric Schneiderman, the New York State Attorney who is leading the lawsuit against Trump University, stated that his office is now investigating the Donald J. Trump Foundation. “We have been concerned that the Trump Foundation many have engaged in some impropriety,” Schneiderman told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “My interest in this is in my capacity as regulator of non-profits in New York State.” '

There's video:
'Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s plan for a quiet dinner at one of Washington’s upscale Mexican restaurants was foiled by a group of protesters who chanted and berated her until she left.

Nielsen, who has become the face of the Trump administration's practice of separating children from parents who take them across the U.S. border illegally, was eating Tuesday evening at MXDC Cocina Mexicana when a group of 10 to 15 protesters entered the restaurant, The Washington Post reported.

The group, whose protest was streamed live on the Facebook page of the Metro D.C. Democratic Socialists of America, chanted “shame!” and “end family separation!” at the homeland security secretary as she sat quietly without acknowledging the group.

“How dare you spend your evening here eating dinner as you’re complicit in the separation and deportation of over 10,000 children separated from their parents?” one protester yelled. “How can you enjoy a Mexican dinner as you’re deporting and imprisoning tens of thousands of people who come here seeking asylum in the United States? We call on you to end family separation and abolish ICE!”'

But Nielsen's currency has zoomed up in the WH bubble:

So, in my idle moments, I've been doing this, as suggested by James O'Brien:
You will often but crucially not always be wasting your time if you send this link … - and this picture to anyone claiming that the current border policy is anyone but Trump's.

ohmymimi · 20/06/2018 13:12

He didn't 'let this happen', it's orchestrated, and purposeful:

Those definitely aren't idle moments, Bolleaux.

Purposeful cruelty:

JUST IN: UK PM May says pictures of children "being held in what appear to be cages" are "deeply disturbing,” and the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" policy is "wrong" and she "doesn't agree with it."

NewMinouMinou · 20/06/2018 14:24

Fair play to FRTR (sorry, probably got that wrong). Thanks for your honesty there.

ohmymimi · 20/06/2018 14:28

May's desperate, Sleip., isn't she? But T. doesn't care for her, does he, and he is only interested in being fêted like a rajah. And he'll care for the UK even less after the visit. The vehemence and level of protest here, even if surpressed/kept out of his way, will resonate. Added to which, any commitment he makes to any future trade/relationship is worthless.
Still, Johnson, Mogg, Fox et al will get to grovel at his feet and fawn over him.

Gumpendorf · 20/06/2018 14:29

29 years and nine months ago I registered to vote and became a member of The Republican Party which was founded in 1854 to oppose slavery and stand for the dignity of human life. Today I renounce my membership in the Republican Party. It is fully the party of Trump.

It is corrupt, indecent and immoral. With the exception of a few Governors like Baker, Hogan and Kasich it is filled with feckless cowards who disgrace and dishonor the legacies of the party’s greatest leaders. This child separation policy is connected to the worst abuses of ...

Well yes, exactly.

He habitually reneged on deals before he was president; he continues to renege on deals. There's actually no such thing as a genuine deal with Trump.
