All they seem to represent us keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor. There doesn't seem to be that many rich people so why do they get so many votes?

Im in the centre politically. I basically believe in capitalism, but think the laws on monopolies should be much much tighter, but I also believe in a social safety net. We can all hit hard times and I don't think a countries economy means shit if the people don't benefit from it. Im not a socialist though, where I believe everything should be state owned, I don't believe in too much government control and I bloody hate too much political correctness and no platforming. I think we need a middle ground. I find politics strange right now, its too 'left wing, right wing' pick a side. Both sides are shit. We need a middle ground. For now, the tories are the only ones I can stomach. They have some shit policies, but i'd take them over corbyns shit show any day of the week

starzig · 18/06/2018 23:14

Cause the alternatives are worse? They want to take everything that anyone works for to give it to those that don't. Everyone wants to take from me, it's just about who it goes to.

TotHappy · 18/06/2018 23:18

I don't understand how anyone can vote Tory, either. The NHS is going to die and they're doing it on purpose. Criminals.

Tories couldn't give a fuck about people. They're not on the side of humanity. Just themselves.

I wish Ed Miliband had got in but at the time I thought he was too centre, everyone I knew was so pissed off with the capitalist agenda... Now the country's terrifyingly polarised.

But omg Cameron - that Brexit election. What a bad call.

DownstairsMixUp · 18/06/2018 23:19

Universal credit is way more of a joke than tax credits ever was and that really is saying something considering tax credits was also a pile of shit!

HelenaDove · 18/06/2018 23:19

"Corbyn is (probably) a nice enough man"
"Really? He looks like a nasty piece of work/ grubby steptoe!"

In the sitcom
Albert Steptoe was Tory Harold was Labour

Loopytiles · 18/06/2018 23:22

Labour shouldn’t have chosen Ed Miliband, when David was much more electable.

ThistleAmore · 18/06/2018 23:23

Living in Scotland and being a supporter of Scottish independence, I vote SNP, but I do so with a slightly off taste in my mouth, as their economic policies are a bit too right of centre for me, plus they have some slightly dubious policies re women's rights.

Still, independence is the goal, so 'get the keys to the house first, choose the wallpaper later', as they say.

If I lived in England, I genuinely don't know how I'd vote. Probably spoil my paper, TBH.

BMW6 · 18/06/2018 23:29

TotHappy the Tories are going to kill the NHS???

you dont watch the news do you.

I've been hearing this trotted out for 42 years since I started voting. 42 fucking years of the same utter bollocks.

when you have been voting for 42 years the NHS will still be there, hopefully reformed and streamlined rather than the present fuck up, but still the NHS,

BrewDoggy · 18/06/2018 23:55

Because I like pissing off people who call Tory voters cunts, racists, uneducated Grin

Cheerymom · 18/06/2018 23:58

Because it's a democracy and their right. I personally couldn't but respect everyone's decision to vote as i.e. their right. Its not complicated.

IslaBoots · 18/06/2018 23:58

Why didn't you vote Tory OP?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/06/2018 00:09

There are many reasons why people vote for a party

Sometimes it’s the leader very much the case with Thatcher and Blair, or to make sure to anothe tlradwr doesn’t gain power, other times it purely about what the party stands for and what the party is promising, their basic core values which do change, to pay less tax, happy to pay more tax, to have more of a central governance or to have less

There are so many reasons but one I hear over and over again it that the Tories are better at managing finances

I have always voted Labour and been a party member until the last GE I will never vote for Labour while Corbyn, McDonnell and Momentum are leading the party and I would rather see PM May that PM Corbyn not that I think she is doing a good job Brexit is a shambles but I blame that on all MP’s for not debating the issue but they agree to go ahead with a referendum it was utter madness

As for the Tories I am sure as Corbyn will still be leader come the next GE they shall win not sure who they would be lead by i think Boris ship has sailed. The Tories are far more polished and professional that Labour are apart from under Blair/Brown. You only need to see how the rebels are put back into line again and again as the Tories will always and do always pull together when they have to

caroldecker · 19/06/2018 00:17

I don't understand how anyone can vote Tory, either. The NHS is going to die and they're doing it on purpose. Criminals.

The only party to introduce charges for the NHS (opticians, dentists and prescriptions) are the Labour party.

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 00:20

Tothappy

Come on love really?? Are you really that young.

The tories arnt destroying the NHS its us all wanting the theory of it and the romance of it but ask people to pay more tax and it’s a no thanks.

Do you think labour have that money tree? That ‘tory tax’ stop on the cuts to income tax that poor old Dianne didn’t even know what the rates were.

To help the nhs, schools, the arts, social care blah blah! Cloud coo-coo land

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/06/2018 00:25

The NHS is crumbling. Cuts have caused huge problems but so has throwing money at the NHS that wasn’t there in the first place that has to be paid back

We are flogging a dead horse. I wish a party would have the guts to admit this and put forward an alternative

It doesn’t have to be like the American system we can look to France or Germany but if we want a service that is good and for all we have to pay more quite a bit more

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/06/2018 00:31

People believing Blair's new labour is the same labour as current Labour Party

I think even those who have little interest in politics are well aware that Labour under Corbyn is very different from under Blair

PinkCrystal · 19/06/2018 00:34

I would certainly vote Tory. Socialism is all about giving big chunks of my hard earned money and giving it to other people whether they deserve it or not. I want to keep that to a minimum

This post sums it up. Individualism. Not wanting to help the vulnerable, classing people as deserving or not.

I know some decent Tory voters but also many who are brainwashed by the right wing rags or misled aspirational voters. Yanbu as I struggle to understand it.

TheClitterati · 19/06/2018 00:35

I've voted Labour all my life, and I can't see why anyone would vote Labour atm. It's grim.

Not that I'd ever vote Tory.

PinkCrystal · 19/06/2018 00:36

It doesn’t have to be like the American system we can look to France or Germany but if we want a service that is good and for all we have to pay more quite a bit more

And those that can't afford to pay? (Unemployed, disabled etc)

Sillybilly1234 · 19/06/2018 00:42

You can tell that this is an anonymous forum. If you mention voting Tory in real life you would be torn to shreds and called every name under the sun.

Funny how it is acceptable to vote labour. Or is it just that Tory supporters are not so aggressive and nasty. They are just more polite and accept other people's opinions.

caroldecker · 19/06/2018 00:42

Pink

It is much better to treat people as little children and give them 'free' things that you believe are good for them and society.

I am glad we have all knowing people like you who can run our lives perfectly because we are so obviously incapable.

Vicky1990 · 19/06/2018 00:48

Corbin thinks that Venezuela sets the example of how a country should be run.
Venezuela is now on the verge of collapse due to its socialist government.
Corbin is a socialist.
I am sticking with what we have got cos it works, socialism doesn't.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/06/2018 00:49

They get supported under the French and German healthcare system and those on low wages

Kursk · 19/06/2018 01:12

It’s Tory’s is socialism.

falang · 19/06/2018 07:25

I've voted for every party over the years. I have no leaning to any of them. No idea who I'll vote for next time but it won't be Labour partly due to the nastiness of what seems to be quite a lot of Labour supporters. Calling people who vote Tory stupid, thick etc. No need for it.
