All they seem to represent us keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor. There doesn't seem to be that many rich people so why do they get so many votes?

You actually quoted Charlie brooker! Grin

Yes well that’s just mind blowing isn’t it. Did you giggle at the word wank too? Gosh he’s alternative isn’t he how great let’s pull down society!

Meanwhile

Justanotherlurker · 19/06/2018 18:05

Who suffered the most? The working class did.

And Labour had 13 years to put in measures to correct the issue, so we currently have a housing crisis, low wage/zero hour contract culture created by tax credits, devaluation of degrees because 50% go to university etc, etc.

Still trying to lay all the blame on Thatcher whilst glossing over Labours decade in power shows that no viable solution is being presented other than "twas those evil tories!!"

scaryteacher · 19/06/2018 18:10

Ghost No I didn't sleep through the 80s...having watched Red Robbo at British Leyland during the 70s and all the crap that went on, I have voted Tory since I could first vote in 1984. Nothing I have seen since (Foot, Kinnock, Blair, Brown) has altered my opinion or my voting stance.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood

Well if Charlie broker says it

It must be true then

God my whole world view has changed Hmm

Don’t forget tax criedits to further indebt the working class to the state at any point labour could of just said pay your workers more of you can’t your not viable business but yet more welfare in the hope the fear of removal would keep the proles voting labour

Classic pimp trick get them high on your supply and they will never leave tell them your the only one who can make their dreams come true while kicking them and telling them how stupid racist and awful they are

Metoodear · 19/06/2018 18:19

GhostofFrankGrimes

Thatcher had the backing of the press. Plays a massive role. Blair had murdochs support. The gutter press supported Brexit. See a pattern?
yes sir boss man coz I dose what the papers tell me so I doConfusedHmm

GhostofFrankGrimes · 19/06/2018 18:25

tax credits were a lot better than ids’ universal credit debacle

GhostofFrankGrimes · 19/06/2018 18:26

Yes, me too dear, the press have never influenced anyone, despite we’ve got a thread full of tabloid sound bites Hmm

malificent7 · 19/06/2018 18:30

Well I don't fear the rich leaving...unless we can't put a stop to gentrification if our cities.

siwel123 · 19/06/2018 18:31

Don't fear the rich leaving?
When they pay huge amounts of tax on earnings, most likely employ people or work in big companies.
Oh no but we will be fine if they leave...

BoxsetsAndPopcorn · 19/06/2018 18:31

Tax credits allowed people to not work or do the token sixteen hours to net maximum benefits. UC has a far stricter criteria and puts the emphasis back on the person to support themselves rather than let others do it. It's not strict enough to stop it being taken advantage of but it seems better than tax credits so far.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 19/06/2018 18:33

On a serious note then,

I recently realised that the party I want to vote for for the stuff I want to vote for doesn't exist and maybe never did

I was briefly seduced by the Lib Dems but look how that turned out.

I feel like their needs to be a completely reset - at the moment it's like I don't know what any of them stand for

malificent7 · 19/06/2018 18:35

I don't think benefit cuts for the disabled needed to be overhauled to the point where the genuinely disabled were living in fear of pip.
The Nazis targeted the disabled and vulnerable but we never learn as a species.

This is true.

First of all it would be helpful to define "the rich". Anyone have any ideas ?

The top 1% of earners contribute approx 28% of all income tax collected in this country.

TammySwansonTwo · 19/06/2018 18:40

virtue signalling

DFOD. I have many close friends directly affected, some of whom are no longer with us. Spend a bit of time in support groups for PIP claimants and then come back and spout your apologist bullshit. Have a chat with my friend with severe cerebal palsy who had his lifetime DLA revoked and can’t walk more than two steps without pain and visible difficulties - I guess his incurable condition improved. Or my son, who has a rare (1 in 80,000 diagnosis) who needs round the clock monitoring and testing but I’m told he doesn’t need any more care than a regular child (despite the fact that he has a twin who is unaffected).

These are people’s lives - how dare you?

Metoodear · 19/06/2018 18:42

So what happens now is employers don’t pay good wages because they know the government will top up their workers wages many businesses would not be viable without this

But you tax credits were labours idea so it awesome 😕

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/06/2018 18:43

Hang on a minute, I've got it ... If there's any risk that major contributors might leave the UK under Labour, let's ban them from leaving the country!!!

After all that's what several communist nations did, and if McDonnell's political affiliations are anything to go by, the idea may well appeal to him Hmm

Metoodear · 19/06/2018 18:44

TammySwansonTwo

No how dare you

How dare you and your ilk assume that people who are working class are to stupid and have no clue what is going on in their towns and council estates how dare you and your trustafrain type mates think you know what’s best for the working class

TammySwansonTwo · 19/06/2018 18:47

Assumptions? You know fuck all about me? Trustafarians growing up in Salford council estates? You’re delusional.

And how decides who faking it you I suppose 🙁

And if you want to start throwing Nazis around remember communists have killed fair more people

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 18:47

Oh Charlie booker for next labour leader!

Bet he does festivals and he said wank!

Larger anyone but don’t tell the rents (that’s parents to us older ones I know that from my teens)

TammySwansonTwo · 19/06/2018 18:49

And do you think they needed to be overhauled to the point where 100,000 parents of disabled children are about to lose up to £60 a week?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/06/2018 18:51

There's a very good article about that here: www.ft.com/content/afd88af6-3645-11e7-99bd-13beb0903fa3

It also points out that the richest 10% actually pay 60% of the tax take. Anyone still think it would be fine to wave a load of them goodbye?

auntiebasil · 19/06/2018 18:51

Well Corbyn's acolytes all voted Brexit so we'll be fine.
