All they seem to represent us keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor. There doesn't seem to be that many rich people so why do they get so many votes?

I'm a floating voter and I'd say my politics were very centrist. There is no centrist party at the moment but on balance, I'd rather vote Conservative than Labour. Few reasons -

I wouldn't trust Jeremy Corbyn to run a raffle, never mind the country. He and his cronies have not moved on from their "Socialist Worker" student days, comrade. Diane Abbott is quite frankly more of an embarrassment than Boris Johnson, and that's saying something.

Their hard left politics do not appeal in the slightest. They;d raise taxes and I don't trust that they'd spend it wisely.

They have totally alienated floating voters like me by chasing the "yoof" vote.

And in Scotland the Tories have the awesome Ruth Davidson. An out and proud, pregnant lesbian leads the Scottish Conservatives and does a damn good job taking on Nicola Sturgeon. Ruth could teach May and Co a thing or two.

I love the constant 'Labour is bad with the economy myth'. The right wing press has played a blinder with that.

Labour isn't necessarily bad with the economy but Corbyn would be.

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2018 13:40

its a shame that Ruth Davidson is a Tory as she ( or somebody like her) would make a very good leader of the labour party.
Diane Abbott is a huge embarrassment, but her constituents seem to be happy with her, so she must be doing something right for them. Its when she has to speak and be interviewed she tends to fall apart and get it all wrong and just seems ill prepared.

May is only still about because of Brexit - its a mess and has been since the referendum. its keeping her in a job though.

BlueSapp · 19/06/2018 13:43

YADNBU I'll never understand the tory mentality, Unfortunately I don't get to vote for the people who run the tax system in the UK, that I'm pissed off about!

auntiebasil · 19/06/2018 13:44

I was horrified that Abbott used diabetes as an excuse during the election. May has diabetes ffs.
I also have a serious chronic condition and make the necessary adaptations to manage my work as well. Abbott did anyone with a chronic condition a disservice by blaming her flaky incompetence on that.

dadshere · 19/06/2018 13:44

What aaronburr said;

There's a lot of selfish and stupid people out there.

BlueSapp · 19/06/2018 13:45

They;d raise taxes

Exactly what the tories are doing now, so that one worked out well for you then!

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 13:46

I don’t know either I expect they realise that he would get re elected because of the daft system introduced by the hapless Ed.

He will only go when there’s another election post Brexit and labour are wiped off the face of the earth.

That’s what history tells us anyway with Foot and major etc. Parties regroup after a monumental defeat but it’s little comfort to the country.

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2018 13:46

The ' bad with the economy has floated around ever since the 70s and Brown was unfortunate enough to have to sort out the banking crisis, which didnt help matters. They actually were praised for doing well with that but that was buried under all the bad stuff and made to look like ' their fault' ' wrecked the economy ' etc etc and people do believe it.

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 13:48

there are a lot of selfish abs stupid people out there

There are indeed and they support the lost cause of Corbyn and help the tories to win easy victories.

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 13:50

Yep May will be ditched post Brexit and to be fair she will probably be burnt out. God loves a trier Grin

If Corbyn is still in there will b a new tory leader lots of hope post Brexit and a tory landslide and that prospect isn’t good.

TammySwansonTwo · 19/06/2018 14:31

Labour has proven that they have no intention of fulfilling any of the fake promises they have made.

Oh, the irony

auntiebasil · 19/06/2018 14:32

The irony being....?

BadLad · 19/06/2018 14:44

Swings and roundabouts. The economic recovery in the mid-90s was extremely strong, but the Major government got no credit for it.

The80sweregreat · 19/06/2018 14:48

Bad / I agree - the press has a lot to answer for.

Grandmaswagsbag · 19/06/2018 14:50

Beacause they do what they’re told by the daily mail.

Grandmaswagsbag · 19/06/2018 14:50

*because!

Grandmaswagsbag · 19/06/2018 14:52

But, if there were a more decent alternative this government would have been out long before now. People just have to decide which is the lesser of two evils for them.

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 14:54

Maybe the greens will win with their promise of building £500 000 new homes costing £60 000 each! Seriously if you want a laugh u tube that Natalie Bennett interview. It’s right up there with Dianne telling us 10 000 police officers will cost £8000 per officer that’s training and wages.

Fuck me.

Ohmydayslove · 19/06/2018 14:56

Oh the irony of some posters hand wringing about the poor and the disabled while wilfully supporting a man they know the country won’t vote into power.

Look in the mirror. It’s you lot that allowed the tories in and to stay in while you support this left wing momentum joke candidate

Shame on you for destroying labour.

Shame on you

scaryteacher · 19/06/2018 14:57

Having watched the alternatives to the Tories since the 70s when I was first aware of what was going on, for me, there has not been anyone else for whom I could vote. It really is that simple.

Samcro · 19/06/2018 15:01

i think people use corbyn as an excuse for why they vote tory.
they don't want to see the damage the Torys have done to disabled people.
it all started with Scameron and continues under may.
