How does it work?

ScipioAfricanus · 12/07/2018 17:05

I don’t know exactly - I don’t do stories or gifs or anything. But they can post answers to questions followers have asked on their stories, I think you can directly ask the q from a box on their stories?

Fluffyrainbows · 12/07/2018 17:16

You can ask a question and then they can answer and it will appear in stories.

ARumDo · 12/07/2018 17:26

Hahaha, I guess they'll be monitoring that very closely. An outbreak of honesty would never work on Instagram!

Furfugsache · 12/07/2018 17:33

I just had a read up on it. The blogger can choose what questions to reply to and so which ones appear on their stories and the questions aren’t anonymous. What’s the point? You are better off asking a question on the main feed (assuming you are brave enough to face the onslaught from the fan girls) so that everyone can see how the IGer responds.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 18:43

I wonder why SW Villas felt the need to say that, when someone asked MOD if her holiday was paid for herself 🤔

These high profile, luxury brands employ very astute PR teams. They will already have clocked the flux of people getting cheesed off with the constant stream of freebies being waved under their noses by influencers.

They will already be frantically coming up with new strategies to get round this and obfuscate.

I also have to ask if SW Villas didn't give a freebie to the MoFos then why on Earth are they monitoring and replying on their feed Hmm

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:01

Well, people on these threads are always saying they want an answer.
So they've done that. Answered.

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:05

If they've been tagged in any way on the post, it'll notify them - so they're likely to answer any question directed at them. Doesn't automatically mean that it's because they're monitoring or have been handing out freebies.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 19:07

Yes there was an answer cady but it just seems so off for the company to reply and confirm. Almost like they doth protest too much. It just seemed weird to me.

Amanduh · 12/07/2018 19:08

I don’t think it’s off for them to reply and confirm, it’s good advertising for them and they had been tagged about 50 times!

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:11

Yes there was an answer cady but it just seems so off for the company to reply and confirm. Almost like they doth protest too much. It just seemed weird to me.

So what the heck are they supposed to do then? Confused

  • Don't answer - They're being so rude, they're ignoring questions, why don't they want to answer?! It must be a sneaky freebie.

  • Do answer - They're protesting too much, why do they feel the need to say that, it must be a sneaky freebie.

It really does seem like whatever the hell they do it's never right and there'll ALWAYS be moaning and accusing. Confused

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 19:11

Well exactly @Amanduh , would mod really do that for free, out of the good of her heart? I just don’t trust the big IGers anymore and I think that’s what it boils down to.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 19:13

cady it’s discussion, I appreciate your view but I am cynical and talking about it on a thread about ethical disclosure. There is no one answer as it is a multi faceted issue. It’s obviously great that mod responded but it’s difficult to trust her word now.

TheLadyhasarrived · 12/07/2018 19:15

You misunderstood my question Cady.

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:17

PeppaP - that's fine to talk about it, of course it is - I am genuinely interested if you have an answer to my question though,as it seems it's always going to be wrong whatever they do.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 19:19

What’s the question cady?

ARumDo · 12/07/2018 19:22

Poor old MOFOD's - seems they have been slumming it in a luxury villa for the week and, there she is, already namechecking the next one for her next summer holiday. Do they really not understand how greedy and grasping their behaviour is? Beyond that, do they not realise just how obvious their behaviour is - how many unsolicited name checks can she squeeze into one thread? Ahh, the poor, poor world of a selfless, part time midwife and her mid management husband. #relatable

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:23

This
So what the heck are they supposed to do then?

As it seems whether they answer or don't answer, it's always

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:24

bloody connection posted too early Angry
should read always the wrong thing.

Furfugsache · 12/07/2018 19:26

The Villa company had been tagged about a zillion times. This was probably one of the best adverts I've seen a blogger do on a holiday. The photos were great, the interest in the comments is phenomenal and they didn't get paid for it - doh!

And yet, still, there are a few people asking - did you pay for it? Thinking, surely with all that exposure you must have got something out of it? The villa costs up to £9k a week, so maybe they used the blogger loophole of a discount maybe? Before Allergy pipes up that they can't win, well no they can't, the questions are symptomatic of the fact that there has been a breakdown of trust between followers and bloggers because of all the undisclosed freebies in the past. It's never going to go back to the way it was when followers were oblivious to the fact they were being sold to.

I'm sure the followers could cope if the ODs went off grid for a week with a "we have gone on holiday, back in a week!" message for the followers. I feel kind of sad for them that they can't even have a family holiday without feeling they have to show a million people their holiday snaps.

CadyHeron · 12/07/2018 19:28

It’s obviously great that mod responded but it’s difficult to trust her word now

Sorry,just seen you answered.
Well, that's your issue then - I mean, if someone's responded and you're still not happy as you're (general you) are paranoid that they're lying, they can't really do anything about that, can they?!

Furfugsache · 12/07/2018 19:31

I answered that questions Cady. No, they can't do anything about it. It's a breakdown of trust. Not initiated by the followers, but by the bloggers themselves. No point throwing their hands in the air about it and feeling hard done by.

PeppaP · 12/07/2018 19:32

cady when an IGer has been underhanded about ADs in the past and offers no apology or even recognition of what they’ve done it’s not my (general my) fault they don’t seem trustworthy now.
