I think it’s fair to say who you think isn’t being upfront Buck , it would be interesting to see where and why people are being duped, it’s what the discussion is about.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 18/06/2018 13:03

Has mrs meldrum gone or could I be blocked?

PeppaP · 18/06/2018 13:05

She’s still there, why would you be blocked?

Goingovertosusanshouse · 18/06/2018 13:07

Ah okay. I questioned the holiday whether it was an ad or not.

PeppaP · 18/06/2018 13:09

Wow, and that got you blocked? Be nice or shut up in action right there.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 18/06/2018 13:14

Yep, someone said I was jealous and I responded to that by saying just because I had a different opinion it didn’t mean I was jealous. Now I’m blocked.

PeppaP · 18/06/2018 13:16

I’ve had that happen, no wonder ig is such an echo chamber. What can you do in this situation though? Make another account to ask the same question and be called a troll or a stalker? Report it and have nothing happen? If everything was legit Mrs M or any of the others could give a polite and informative answer. The blocking speaks volumes.

RunMummyRun68 · 18/06/2018 13:20

FOD stories at the weekend were him and his older daughter messing around in the supermarket

He was spinning her in the trolley then she was hidden in the bread shelf.Hair and shoes all over the produce which was all pushed aside so they could play hide and seek

I messaged him to say I was disgusted! He didn't care..... the bread was tortillas anyway he said. So not squashed

PeppaP · 18/06/2018 13:23

Of course fod doesn’t care, if he cared he wouldn’t have done it let alone record and show it to thousands. Surprised you got a response though.

Jammycustard · 18/06/2018 13:33

FoD gives no fucks.

PaperStraws · 18/06/2018 13:39

He deleted the picture of his two year old propped on top of the wardrobe.

stilldazed · 18/06/2018 13:47

mrs meldrum has posted a picture of the man she left her baby with in the kids club...I am now unfollowing. I just can't relate to this..everyone is raving about it...who are these girl fans???, I just find it so odd, I'm thinking about the 6 week induction my child had at nursery ...I know, her choice/I'm jealous' Hmm

bernardswatch · 18/06/2018 13:48

I found this interesting from Unilever, brands are clearly realising that influencer trust needs to be saved before it erodes completely

www.thedrum.com/news/2018/06/17/unilevers-keith-weed-calls-urgent-action-tackle-influencer-fraud

This focuses on bought followers rather than ad disclosure, but I do think the brands need to get tougher with who they work with and if somebody doesn’t disclose the paid relationship/gift then it should be seen as a breach of contract. After all, it makes the brand look bad as well a she influencer.

PaperStraws · 18/06/2018 14:42

Interesting Bernard, but how will they tell which influencers buy followers? This is very shady behaviour, I can see why brands would be unhappy about it when spend is linked to reach.

Interesting where it says "Earlier this year, 71% of UK consumers said they wrongly believed that influencer marketing was not regulated at all". I am still yet to see any evidence that this industry is properly regulated so not sure about the "wrongly" in that statement. Who regulates them? It's not ASA, they only regulate the ads and only some of the ads appear to fall within what ASA deem to be their remit. So who is regulating them?

PaperStraws · 18/06/2018 14:53

For me, regulation means a body overseeing the industry as a whole. Codes of Conduct, training, accreditation and quality assurance. I can't see any of this happening. ASA themselves admit anyone can start an influencer business from their bedroom.

@ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg

I think it’s fairer to name than not name. When you make an accusation (appreciate that’s not what you are doing here BTW) and don’t give specifics it puts everyone in the frame including those who might be behaving well.

I have named influencers and added screen shots of particular posts as my objection is with that particular post/behaviour. I don’t have any malice towards the individuals but think it’s fair to call them out when they are being shady. Using Instagram to raise concerns is in the most part pointless and opens you up to abuse from the influencer’s followers.

Plus if you name names and give examples it helps hold that person accountable rather than just general complaints that is then countered with ‘you are jealous etc etc’

I would be interested to know who you think could be more honest. I do look every day but the algorithm means I only see a small % of posts so likely I’m missing so more more than I see.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 18/06/2018 20:25

I learned my lesson about naming names on here after appearing on someone’s stories! It’s not worth it. And have you noticed just how much quieter these threads are without Cady? Just as I suspected. Over five hours without a post!

bawbles · 18/06/2018 20:49

Oh god @ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg I just have no idea what you are alluding to now. Is cady a stealth instaspouse?

I wouldn’t care about ending up in an instastory following posts on here - I’m not saying anything personal or that doesn’t need saying.

OP posts:
ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 18/06/2018 20:54

Nobody knows, various ideas from different posters. instamum, journo, relative, employee... I just suggested to her that she was one of the posters that kept these threads going, and that they would die down if she didn’t keep replying.

bawbles · 18/06/2018 21:28

I like having another viewpoint but I totally see why she’s suspected of being instaMI5.

Hunters & Heels seems so genuinely lovely and very good at tagging sponsored/affiliates/ads but I like to imagine she ends the story, belches and swears like a trucker (she’s so lady like and always immaculate despite having two toddler boys)

I enjoy the prettiness of her feed although tend to gravitate towards posters who have less elegant feeds/stories

I noticed Cigarettes & Calpol is still off the grid. Her stories were often very funny/natural and totally uninsta perfect. I enjoyed the rants and the kfc fangirling. There’s only so many avocado lunches you can see..

firstworldproblems2018 · 18/06/2018 21:45

I think they’ve all learnt some lessons re #ad and transparency to be honest. My favourite is mutha.hood, she is so down to earth and lovely and always replies to messages. Also she (I truly believe) only agrees to an #ad if it’s for something she really likes/uses, eg Method products.

checkedcloth · 18/06/2018 22:34

I’ve been blocked by Rebecca from roses and rolltops - assuming it’s because I made a comment on her feed last week. I said that it was her job to get followers to buy things as a result of an AD following some discussion around a fat face AD.

There is just no opportunity to discuss on IG is there?!

Boredandtired · 18/06/2018 22:37

@firstworldproblems2018 I agree, or did. But I bought method off the back of her. And today have discovered that both Method and Ecover were bought out last year by SC JOHNSON. So they are actually in the main being boycotted as no longer environmentally friendly, as their owner company rakes in 12 billion a year selling products tested on animals and not being environmentally friendly 🙄 Ffs.

Boredandtired · 18/06/2018 22:41

@bawbles I miss cigarettesandcalpol, I felt she was quite honest and funny. A bit oversharing and TI needed dropping but definitely more normal than others. I stopped following her partner after he was slagging off mumsnet when most of the stuff said about both of them was positive. But he popped up on explore today and rather than c+c being 'gone' he's said she's 'taking a break' so I imagine after some time she'll be back?!

ShesABelter · 18/06/2018 22:41

I cant get over the meldrums journey home with the baby constantly puking on the planes and bus and them saying oh whats wrong with her I think we better get her checked. When its pissing obvious she has caught the sickness bug florence and Mr M had at the beginning of the holiday. Do they not understand incubation periods. They dont understand its 48 hours AFTER sickness stops before you should be getting in pools and spreading your germs round other holiday makers. Completely selfish and entitled.
